    At first while my new fridge is being installed. I wonder if installation of this product is necessary. An extra length of line offers some flexibility when moving the bulky fridge especially when squeezing yourself between the wall and the fridge

    This is a perfectly good waterline. The challenge for me was more about what happened after the install; the delivery persons were careless about shoving the refrigerator too deep into the back wall, which struck the valve and rotated enough to cause a leak in the valve (not the waterline). Shortly after the installers left, I had a flood. Luckily I shut the water off quickly and my kitchen is above the garage, so the damage was limited.
