Expensive considering I had to rewire both thermostats for my heat to work. Also they arrived with to install two and They only had one thermostat with them. Partly my fault as somehow I only ordered one yet I don’t know how they don’t sort that out knowing they’re coming to install two when they only have one in their possession. If you have them install test your AC and your heat before they leave. They wired both thermostats as if I had an outdoor heat pump system which in New England would be pretty rare. I spent probably a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot. I finally disconnected the power and looked up videos on wiring and was finally able to rewire both thermostats so that they work properly. Otherwise my heat would not come on. It was frustrating.
Hi there. Thanks for taking time to share this with us! I'm sorry to hear the appointment did not go completely to plan. It's always frustrating when there's a misunderstanding or loss in communication. We hope that you'll give us another chance to better serve you in the future.

Buyer beware! Best Buy contracts with 3rd party installers for nest installations. The “geek squad” technician looked at YouTube videos to figure out how to install my nest thermostat. Ultimately, he incorrectly wired my nest thermostat and could have affected how my HVAC unit works. Decided to go with a certified Nest Pro Installer who fixed the mistakes of the the contractor hired by Best Buy.

The Best Buy Professional were very nice and professional they not only installed the thermostat they also showed me how to use it but it would have been nice if they would have set it up for me

Geek squad tried to install my smart thermostat but they ran into issues with my old furnace and AC unit. The AC actually went out and we had no cold air. The wires had been crossed and shorted the system. Zach (GS agent) called emergency HVAC company and took care of it. When the first guy couldn't figure it out, he got another company to come out on Saturday right away. We ended up having to get a whole new system (not Geek Squad's fault). Zach went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He also kept in touch with us, even late at night, when everything went wrong. Definitely recommend them, even though they didn't actually install the device. I wish there were more people who cared about their clients as much as he.
I would recommend this to a friend

The installation, itself, went fairly smoothly. The installer even followed up with my later that night and the next day because the thermostat battery needed to charged before it could be connected to my wireless internet.
Best Buy, however, needs to work on picking better companies to contract out. I reserved a 7am to 1pm installation time. I got a call from the company the day before that they would be there between 9am and 12pm, great. On installation day, at 8:53am I get a call saying the person would arrive between 2pm and 5pm, well after my designated time. At approx. 1:30pm, I did get a call from my installer who said he was leaving his previous installation but was coming from another state and would be there in 3 hours and he indeed arrived at 4:30pm. I find out they are based out of a third state. Best Buy needs to find more local contractors who actually arrive at locations at promised times.

We purchased a Honeywell Programable Thermostat and used Geek Squad to have it installed. The installer was on time, polite, and professional. He proceeded to remove the old thermostat when he noticed that, as an older thermostat, it did not have the necessary coil wire to hook up a smart thermostat. He quickly replaced the faceplate and told us that we would need to have another installer come, one with the experience to add the necessary wire and ensure the thermostat would connect to our central air and heat. The problem? The only one in the area was on leave after adding a new child to the family and he wasn't sure when the installer would be back from leave. He was ready to leave when he noticed that the air conditioner hadn't restarted. He ended up being here an extra 45 minutes, attempting to restart the air conditioner. Thankfully, his boss had worked on older air conditioners and was able to walk the installer through resetting our air conditioner. In the end, we did not get the installation and had to return the thermostat.

The installation went very well. The technician was very skilled as he's installed a lot of these before. He allayed my fears concerning a missing C-wire which wasn't necessary to complete the installation or for proper operation of the thermostat.
The only complaint I have is that within two weeks, two different service visits required rescheduling. In BOTH cases, I had called in my order over the phone because they had involved price matching. And in both cases, I received email confirmations showing the date agreed upon. But then, they were followed up by emails saying that I had to reschedule. Upon calling Best Buy, I was told that the agent hadn't "completed" the scheduling. In one case, they were able to come one day sooner than the originally agreed upon date. But I was not so fortunate the second time as I had to wait three weeks for my product to be installed, even though payment was immediate.
The installation quality met my expectations but Best Buy needs to improve their scheduling and follow up emails. In some cases, I received follow-up emails showing a different four-hour time window for the installation so this was annoying too as it required me to phone Best Buy once again to confirm that the original time window was accurate.
It should be noted that Best Buy is NOT a sanctioned Nest products installer which means your two-year manufacturer's warranty will not be extended to five years. I did this mainly out of convenience but I'm not sorry I did.

Two Best Buy guys came to install my google smart thermostat. They were very polite and installation was quick. So I would be giving them 5 stars however, it turns out that they installed it incorrectly. When I turned on the AC hot air would fill the house, and when I turned on the heater cold air would fill the house. I laughed at myself for not testing it before they left, however, they should have tested it before they left!

Friendly and fast service. There were a few hiccups (not the intallers fault) just because the Nest unit had not been used for a while and it was completely out of juice. It needed to recharge before it could be used and it took hours not minutes. The installers correctly identified the problem and answered all questions.
