For the price (where it is currently at $50) it's really good. Only thing is the wind resistance is essentially non-existent. Also, the camera is rather rough. My only other complaint would be the controller's rounded rectangle areas for the sticks. I would've preferred circles there in terms of the shape.

Great indoor drone for beginners or playing around. Affordable and easy enough to use that anyone can give it a try, with a few neat features. My 7-year-old daughter loves it and my wife (who normally doesn’t play with “toys”) has even taken it for a few flights and said it was fun. ---Pros--- 1. Easy to fly with quick start guides for the controls, decent automatic position holding, and landing/takeoff assist. 2. Preprogrammed tricks and neat features. Rather than a regular takeoff, you can just toss it in the air. It also has a button for a 360-degree flip or automatic circle flight (my daughter loves making it do the flip). 3. Easy to swap battery packs that just click in and have a USB-C port for recharging. This is way better than other drones I have owned that required removing a panel, disconnecting a wiring harness, and using a specific battery charger. 4. Tough enough to shrug off a few bad landings. We have had a few run ins with the walls and hard landings from as high as 6ft with no damage. The inboard mounted blades/motors are well protected, and I left the optional blade guards on for this very reason (even though they reduce flight time). 5. Includes extra blades, a soft carrying bag, removable blade guards, and tools. 6. Basic camera that can be linked to a phone. With a built-in phone holder on the remote. 7. Bright color changing LEDs with selectable patterns. ---Things to Consider--- 1. The manual recommends not using this drone outside. It is small (mini) and extremely sensitive to any type of wind (inside my two-story house, it had trouble keeping position with the AC on). 2. Flight time with the blade guards on was around 7 minutes per battery (you get 2). While this seems reasonable to me for such an inexpensive drone, you will need to be patient as the battery pack has a recharge time of around an hour. The good news is that you can easily charge both batteries at the same time with any spare USB-C cable and charger. 3.The onboard camera has good brightness, but a limited viewing angle and low resolution… only good for practicing using a camera in flight or capturing a casual video/photo.

I have used a few other drones. I definitely wouldn't say I am a pro, but I have had the opportunity to use some high end drones, and some more fun/educational purpose drones. I was excited to try out the K30 Mini Drone from Snaptain. It reminded me of some of the drones we have used in our classrooms. My sons were excited to get to use this one in the house. **Setup** Setup was a breeze. Everything was packaged very well, and was very easy to setup. You get a QR code to scan to get you to the app you will need for your iOS or Android device. You also get a QR code if you want to get a digital copy of the manual. I thought I would need to charge up the 2 drone batteries, but when I attempted to charge them they showed charged already. We always keep batteries around the house for my sons' various devices and controllers so we had the 3 extra AAA batteries that the controller needed. Everything paired up easily, controller connected to drone, and phone connected to drone. **Flying Experience** So this is a mixed bag if I am being 100. Right off we noticed that the drone tends to move all on its own. We noticed this when we connected the controller, or we tried to steer it with my phone or my son's phone. The drone drifted side to side, and back and forth. This drift wasn't subtle, like a couple of inches like I have experienced before, it was feet. When we went to try to steer it, if it was trying to pull to the left, you needed to go that much further to there right to compensate. If you're using this outside, I am not sure how well it would handle wind, since it is rather light. Indoors it would move back and forth on its own so it made it a little difficult to maneuver around the house. The camera is great, you can get some cool video or pics, but again I felt like the controls hampered the ability to capture what you wanted to record. The lights are a neat little feature too, and you get extra parts, and tools to easily replace any broken propellers or guards. You really get a complete package to get going with the little drone. **Overall** I will admit that perhaps our drone might have been defective. When we were able to pilot it around the house it is fun to use. The lights are great, and the camera works really well. It quickly pairs to your device and controller. I love that you get two charged batteries right out of the box, and the extra parts are great as well. You also get a nice pouch to carry everything around. I could recommend this as long as the one you get doesn't drift around so much on its own, then it might be difficult to use. Also, this is not quiet at all. I could see people in the house getting annoyed by the sound of the drone if they're trying to watch TV or concentrate on something.

EXPECTATIONS: This is an entry level drone, that is made to be used INDOORS, and has marketing made more for children/teens. But obviously adults can enjoy as well. Is 70 grams meaning you don’t need to have a license or register with FAA. BATTERY LIFE: It comes with two batteries, each last about 9 minutes, and recharge via USB-C. Recharge time was ~1 – 1.5 hours. FLYING: Flying the drone is a lot of fun. It is extremely sensitive to wind. First time out I did zero research, just took it out of the box, went outside, and went for it. Which was a mistake. As the wind took it, crashed, and fell into my neighbor’s backyard. After a nice conversation with the neighbors, I then moved inside, where the fan above me was pushing it around a bit as well. As it does not hover perfectly still and kind of wonders like someone who has had an expensive night at the bar. Controls are intuitive but take a little bit to get used to without any previous experience. It’s not super-fast (but has a slow and fast setting), which is good, seeing as it is supposed to be used indoors. This means if you go vrooming into something the product and the drone are less likely to break. The drone is lightweight with guards which work well. It also comes with some replacement parts. RGB: RGB lights are awesome. Very bright, color accurate, with very smooth animations. One of my favorite parts of the drone. CONTROLLER BUILD QUALITY: Controller uses 3 Triple A batteries. Feels cheap. As lightweight plastic. Buttons don’t feel great. Joysticks do feel good and are responsive. There is a slot on the top that you can attach your phone. But with the controller being lightweight it isn’t well balanced. There are some shortcuts which help reset the drone after a crash and to help it take off again. It is worth learning these. PHONE APP: Regarding the phone piece. The app is good. But I found the FPV view didn’t work well for me. As I couldn’t use it at all when the drone was in operation as it was a frozen picture. Not quite sure how well the recording feature actually works. As most of my time was spent just having fun with it visually.

Unboxing and First Impressions When I first received the Snaptian K30 Mini 720p Drone, I was immediately impressed by its eye catching packaging. The box is compact, with vibrant images showcasing the drone and its features. Inside, the drone is securely nestled in protective foam, accompanied by the remote control, charging cables, extra propellers, and a user manual. The inclusion of extra propellers is a nice touch, anticipating potential mishaps during flight. Setup and Initial Challenges Setting up the drone was a mixed bag. The physical setup was straightforward – ensuring the battery was charged was simple enough. However, connecting the drone to the Snaptian app proved to be a bit of a hassle. The app interface isn't as intuitive as one might hope, and I found that it didn't always connect seamlessly with the drone. After a few attempts, I finally got it working, but this inconsistency was a bit frustrating. Flying with My Kid The real fun began when I introduced the drone to my young kid. Watching their eyes light up at the sight of the colorful lighting on the K30 was priceless. Surprisingly, they were able to grasp the basic controls quickly. The remote is well-designed for small hands, and the simplified buttons made it easy for them to navigate the drone. We had a blast flying it around the backyard, taking turns controlling it. Drone Performance Once we got the hang of it, flying the K30 was a delight. The drone's video feed through the app provided a decent 720p resolution, which was good enough for our needs. Performing tricks like front and back flips was easier than expected – a simple button press and the drone flipped smoothly. The colorful lights added an extra layer of excitement, especially during evening flights. Battery Life and Final Thoughts One significant downside to the K30 Mini is its short battery life. We managed to get around 7-10 minutes of flight time per charge, depending on how extensively we used the lights and maintained constant flight. This limited our play sessions and required frequent recharging, which was a bit of a downer. It does come with two separate batteries and I guess you could buy additional ones. In conclusion, the Snaptian K30 Mini 720p Drone offers a fun and engaging experience, especially for kids. The colorful lighting and straightforward controls make it a joy to play with. However, the app could use some improvements for a more seamless connection, and the short battery life limits extended play sessions. Despite these drawbacks, it's a great entry-level drone for those looking to have some light-hearted fun.

This little drone is fun, when it works properly. It’s simple, colorful and a lot safer than going for a high end drone just to learn how to fly. It says 14+ for the age, but the controller makes it feel like it was designed for 4+ instead. So, it feels really childish but it has the capabilities of higher end drones. Auto launch and landing, the ability to hover, if it works. Functions to flip and rotate in circles or use the app on a phone for more. The ability to use the app to watch, record or take photos from the drone adds even more. Plus, it comes with 2 batteries, so you get about 8-9 minutes of flight time per charge, so you get to do it twice. The biggest issue I have had with this drone is that there is no way to correct the trim. So, if the drone takes off and starts drifting to the right, you better have enough space and be ready to correct it with the controller. Unless you have an extremely calm day outside and plenty of space, you might be spending a good portion of that 9 minutes picking the drone back up and resetting it. Now, on the bright side of that, it has somewhat of a collision detection and will shut itself off after a collision with an object or wall, most of the time. Then, it is simply putting it back upright, pushing the control sticks in opposite diagonals and taking off again. But, even indoors with no wind, plenty of space, it still has issues with taking off and instantly drifting into something. Now, don’t get me wrong. I went into this thing as a toy, and it is surprisingly capable. It gives anyone the ability to learn more about handling a drone without breaking the bank. However, it felt more bothersome than entertaining at times as I felt like I had to constantly walk over to where it had flown itself to pick it up and try again, and this is completely without touching the controller. Not even with a breeze it would just keep going on its own journey at times till it hit something. But, when you can keep it close and in control, it is fun. My other drone doesn’t have color changing LEDs, it can’t do flips and I fear chopping something off with it compared to the mostly enclosed blades of this one. Plus, this one comes with extra blades should you have issues. Overall, I feel the experience with this one can be hit or miss. It can be fun, simple and entertaining, or it can be frustrating and disappointing. It is much more capable than many of those other toy drones I have seen but know that this is still mostly a plastic toy. If it doesn’t wander off on you, it can be an entertaining 9 minute run that you can record on your phone from the drones perspective or it can be some opportunity to get some exercise as you go and retrieve it from yet another crash landing.

EXPECTATIONS: Let’s being with setting proper expectations. The K30 mini drone leans heavily toward the toy market, as stated in the feature description a “…fun, children’s drone…”. And to that end, it is a successful entry level drone for kids and those first-time adults who wish to learn how to navigate a drone. Also, this is primarily an “indoor” drone, unless there is next to zero wind outdoors. So, keep that in mind. ASSEMBLY: After unboxing, install three AAA batteries (user supplied) into controller. (The small screwdriver provided was nice touch!) Charge up the two supplied drone batteries with the supplied USB-A to USB-C cable. Note that you need to provide your own charger, but I can’t imagine anyone nowadays not having a few of these around for their mobile phones. Insert the fully charged battery (no longer in a RED charge state), that will snap into the bottom of the drown. APPLICATION: Now you don’t actually require the SNAPTAIN FPV application to use the K30 drone with its base controller for take-off, maneuvering, tricks, LED selection, and landing. But you will need the app if you intend to take pictures, videos, or intend to use the special maneuvering (i.e. Doodlefly) features. I did install the app, paired it with my phone’s WiFi, and selected the K30 drone from the app. I was then able to view from the drone’s point of view on my phone’s screen, take a few pictures, and made a few inflight videos. But since my grandsons will be the primary navigators for this drone, I probably will not see a need for using the application from this point forward. MANEUVERING: Pretty basic controls here with dual left/right joy-sticks for up/down, left turn, right turn and forward, backwards, left, right. The dedicated one-key Take-Off and Landing button is a nice basic addition. Plus, there is a dedicated LED control button. Very cool indeed! ACTUAL USE: OK, I will admit I am a 72-year old kid with it comes to drones. Doubtful I would be able to successfully pilot any type other than a Level-1 drone without major damage to the drone, myself, or personal property. But the mini K30 was just perfect for my beginner entry into drone navigation. There must be embedded gyro stabilization since I was able to use indoors without bumping into objects or crashing into walls. And no doubt my two grandsons will be far better pilots than I could ever be. NOISE: This is not a quiet drone, and I wasn’t expecting the whizzing noise level the four fans/rotors exhibit that was somewhat annoying to those not participating with its use. But for others, it could be a positive adding to the flight experience with the UFO/UAP sound it makes. You certainly won’t be sneaking up on anyone trying to catch an undercover glance, picture, or video. ACCESSORIES: Four spare rotor blades, a rotor removal tool, four optional exposed rotor cover rings, phone adapter, USB charging cable, two drone rechargeable batteries, screwdriver, and storage pouch. Plus, a quick start guide and full user manual. RATING: This SNAPTAIN MINI K30 is a specialize children’s entry level drone, and for its intended customer base, I believe it earned itself a full 5-Start Rating. .

I have a few high-end drones, but I enjoy using small indoor hobby drones when I am relaxing.  I like colorful light shows, so I wanted to see if the Snaptain K30 Mini would be a good indoor drone. Setup was easy since you do not have to use the app with a smartphone.  However, you are not able to see a first person view without a phone.  At first, I had a hard time connecting the drone to my phone, but I believe it had a loose connection since the WIFI started working after a rough landing.  I was happy to find this drone had an extra rechargeable battery to keep me flying. Many hobby drones only last 10 to 15 minutes, but they do not have replaceable batteries, so the fun ends until it has a change to recharge.  Each battery, from this drone, lasted about 10 to 15 minutes which depended on how many flips and other actions performed. The drone hovered pretty well but did have some drift.  The camera was not that impressive, but it was very responsive and was able to guide me to prevent crashes.  The most impressive aspect of this drone was the multiple color light patterns.  I liked how many light color options there were and it made flying the drone more fun.  If you are looking for a beginner drone for a teen or are a kid at heart, this is a great indoor drone.  I would recommend giving this drone a try and happy flying.

The Snaptain K30 as its description says is a kiddie drone. So first make no mistake that this is a drone is at par with professional drones in the market today. That said this review will be based on the fact that it is a kiddie drone. First, the packaging of the Snaptain Z30 is similar to what is found in toys with a see through box and not a box with design as found in most tech gadgets. Opening the box would reveal that both the drone itself and the remote are made from cheap plastic. The remote is powered by three AAA batteries whereas the drone itself is powered by a removable battery. A spare battery is included too. Also included in the box are a carrying pouch, a couple of tools, four extra propellers, a USB C cable but no charger and a couple of quick start guides. Setting up the drone is pretty much similar to all drones. First is that you have to download the Snaptain FV app both available in iOS and Android. Turn on both the drone and the remote control. Connect the drone to the phone and you’re ready to go. Operation of the drone is straight forward. On the right sight of the remote are the power and speed mode buttons. On the left side are the launch/land button and flight mode button. Just press the launch button and the drone will begin to fly. The joysticks control altitude and direction of the drone. Pressing the land button obviously will land the drone. Unfortunately, there is no return to home button. But then again this is a toy drone. There is flight mode capability for the drone but I really wasn’t able to test it since this drone is so lightweight and obviously no flight stabilization that it can barely fly outdoors. (Note that the instructions say that this supposed to be used indoors. So flying it in a gym would be nearly impossible for me.) Also, there is a camera built in the drone, but it is only 720p. Stills and video can be taken by the drone but expect much. One thing I’ve noticed though is that battery life is around five to ten minutes which is the downside for me. But then again this is a toy. But I have to remove a star for that. Still if you want a practice drone, this is a viable option.

Bought this for my 11 year old nephew and it keeps him busy outside. Light up features makes it fun at night. Overall very happy with this purchase for this price point.

The price I paid for given the size of the drone is way too much. On top of that, in order to be able to use the camera feature, you have to pay for it, which I think is absurd

Cool little drone. Bought it for my seven year olds. Light up feature on it is cool with navy different modes. So could be a bit better could be more intuitive.
