This review is for the Snaptain - P40 LITE 3-Axis Gimbal 4K Camera Drone. Unboxing you will find the drone, battery, remote controller, spare propellers, screwdriver, screws, user manual, quick start guide, charging cable, 3 different RC cables to connect to a phone. (lighting, USB-C, USB-Micro) and a very nice carrying case to hold everything. It really does come with everything you need to fly. And the carrying case has room for two more batteries to extend your flight time if you wish to add them later. Set up is easy after getting the snaptain go app it will walk you through step by step. Showing you how to get going. It does use a phone so you can see where you are flying. During the day I had great results with both taking still photos and videos. Night time, now that was a different story. I would only use this drone during the daylight hours. It is super easy to control and fly. I was averaging about 20 minutes flight time per battery. The controls are so smooth, I was able to fly in the front door of my house and out a window on the back side. I think this would be a good drone for a beginner. Has ok transmission range and good speed. And it is very small so it's easy to carry around with you.

This drone is incredibly fun and user-friendly. Priced under $400, it offers exceptional value for its performance and capabilities. The 4K video quality is outstanding, delivering excellent footage whether you’re a drone enthusiast or a content creator. Flight instructions and tutorials are available in the app, and there is also a wealth of online resources. The drone is very easy to fly, with three speed settings to choose from. While it lacks programmed maneuver features—requiring manual control for creative shots—it maintains remarkable stability despite its compact size. The blades operate surprisingly quietly for such a nimble, lightweight design. Due to its weight, it currently falls below registration requirements (as of October 2025), though always stay updated as drone regulations evolve. The main drawback is the absence of obstacle sensors, making it easier to collide with objects and crash. This also limits access to some automated flight modes used in creative videography. So, while marketed as a beginner drone, it demands greater environmental awareness compared to models equipped with sensors. Overall, it is likely one of the best drones available for beginners, packed with features at a very reasonable price. It’s an awesome, easy-to-fly drone with impressive altitude performance. Before flying, be sure to watch tutorial videos online and familiarize yourself with the operations. As someone who always wanted a drone—I’m thrilled with this purchase.

I've owned many drones at this point, from some of the earliest generation to some of the more expensive consumer grade drones. Unfortunately for the price, this one leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Packaging: To start, the packaging is decent, it's packed in a carrying case with the battery, controller and multiple link cables for connecting your phone to the controller. It has the look of one of the more familiar brands in this segment but that's where the similarity stops. Construction: From the moment I touched the drone I was disappointed in how cheaply it felt and is made. There are plastic panels that do not match up properly, the plastic casing around the battery itself is uneven, it was clear before I even powered it up that it has no sensors to prevent running into obstacles (the only sensor I even see is a down facing camera that I assume is for landing, but I'll talk about that in a moment). It does come with spare propellers, probably because it's going to run into things whether you want it to or not. Use: Sigh... Where to start. It powers up the same as most drones I've used, particularly that bigger name brand that everyone is familiar with, tap then hold the power and it turns on, same with the controller. The app for the phone isn't 'bad', it's mostly just limited. I had to restart the app for it to see that the phone was connected, then restart the drone again after that for the app to see the drone, but after that connectivity remained stable. Flight is... almost best effort. As soon as I took off, despite having solid GPS signal, the drone drifts around, not maintaining a single position as I've become accustomed to with most drones that are more than just toys. The downfacing sensor either doesn't work or doesn't work well. It does state that it updated the 'home' location on takeoff so that you can press the return to home button to land, but even when doing that, it still landed about 10 ft away from the original takeoff point in an area that didn't even look remotely like the place it took off from (took off from a brick path, landed in grass about 10 ft away). The drone starts in a beginner mode which is easy enough to turn off and really just limits the distance and altitude, both of which can be adjusted outside of the beginner mode as well, which is nice. Once in the air, as I mentioned it sort of drifts lazily, unable to keep its horizontal position very well. I tested flying it towards a tree and there was nothing that prevented it from running into it. There are other drones in this price point that do have those sensors to prevent collisions. Flight time is poor. I got about 25 minutes of flight time on a full battery not even doing anything crazy with it, with the flight mode in 'normal' not sport or beginner or smooth mode. On the note of the battery, charging it is strange, when the charge gets near full, the drone makes the noise of powering up, then it seems to restart the charge, at which point you need to unplug it then turn off the drone or it'll just run the battery down. The battery also must be charged in the drone as it does not come with a separate charger (I do not know if they sell a separate charger). Image quality is decent, although it will not save images back to your phone, it requires an SDCARD in the drone for any image or video capture. I did not try maxing out the range as I was uncomfortable enough flying it close to me that I had zero confidence in it returning to me if I lost sight of it, however within line of sight it was fine. Overall: Buy a different drone. There are other small lightweight drones by major manufacturers in this price point that are far better than this one. I cannot recommend this drone.

If the drone doesn't impress you, the service through Sanction will!!! I had bought this drone late 2025, and fell in love with the quality, the video quality and the operation of the drone. Still new to drone operation myself, I had an unfortunate accident where it crashed and the gimbal broke. I reached out to Snaptain and asked if they offered repairs, and unfortunately they do not. However, without hesitation I just provided my proof of receipt and since it was still under 60 days, I mailed Snaptain my broken drone and they shipped me back a brand new one. Excellent customer service!!!! Annie helped me out through this situation and she was very professional and kind to understand my situation. I cannot speak highly enough about the Snaptian P40 LITE as a drone, and the service that came with it. Annie, if you read this rating, thank you so very much!!!

I recently bought this drone as I've been disappointed or rather frustrated with the control, stability and overall quality of previous drones I had purchased. I almost gave up on this hobby because of these forgettable experience. So, I was skeptical at first when I came across this but to my surprise I was delighted by the experience of flying this drone. overall, I found that the Snaptain P40 Lite is a highly capable beginner-to-intermediate drone and it offers impressive range of features and performance. The price is also affordable. Some of the qualities I found impressive are: stable flight, GPS-assisted controls, quality photography and video, and a user-friendly experience that helps new pilots build confidence quickly. I mostly flew the drone in the beginner mode but there is an advanced mode with many other options that I am plan to try in the near future. The unboxing and setup is straightforward, with clear instructions, tutorial videos, and an good mobile app. I found that even in moderate wind conditions, the drone maintains its position well. GPS functionality provides accurate positioning, automatic return when the battery is low or signal is lost is just a great feature along with a map view to help track the drone's location. I was pleasantly surprised by the camera's sharp photos and smooth video. The camera controls are also easy to access through both the remote controller and the mobile app, although I use the controller more to snap pics as it is more intuitive. The packaging of the drone is also impressive and makes it higly portable, I carry the drone in the included carry case which can also fit rest of the components like controller, battery small bag to the open space and it fits in nicely without worrying whether its going to crushed. The only thing that makes me think of the battery life which is roughly 25 mins. The product could have included addnl spare batteries for this purpose. I am already planning on buying addnl batteries so i could spend more time when I take it on the flight. Overall, I feel this is a very attractive drone for both beginner and intermediate. actually you can grow with the drone as you become more and more familiar with the features you can unlock them on your way of getting more and more expertised with the drone. I love it !! and recommend for those looking for a delightful flying experience

I went to Best buy wanting to buy a DJI mavic pro and possibly the headset. I was told they don't carry those anymore except online. So I started looking at there drones they carried still and the snaptain power pack deal stuck out to me. It was best choice out of the drones they had. I'm glad I picked this drone it flys amazing the controller giving with the drone is a nice and durable controller u can tell it's not a cheap flimsy one that will break. It held my pixel pro with no problems it could of fit a bigger phone. I was able to fly this drone for about 30 min or longer on one battery and I had two left. I really enjoyed the throwing of the drone plus how the drone will come back to u if battery starts diying or starts loosing gps it will come to where it started flying . I was amazed how this drone is built and how it flys and what surprised me most is the camera was excellent I couldn't believe how good of shots it took if any one is reading this and has doubts bout this drone I say don't just buy it u won't regret it for the price u will love this drone. I recommend getting the extra battery's in the upgrade it's only a $150.00 more. It was well worth it.

I've flown this drone for a few weeks now. It's very easy to set up for the first time and use. First, right out the box, I like how it has guards for the propellers so that new pilots don't accidentally fly it into objects that'll damage the propellers. Secondly, the controller does not have a display/information screen, and instead you connect it directly to your phone using one of the included USB-C/USB-B/Lightning cables. On the phone, you can see the birds-eye-view that the drone sees. The menu options are very straightforward and even allows you to set limits on how far and high the drone can go. The view that you can see on the phone and downloaded video/photo is amazingly clear. The gimbal style camera allows it to steadily record for a smooth video. My only complaint is that the battery seems to take an extremely long time to charge. From a fully exhausted battery to fully charged, it took about 5 hours. However, that might have just been due to the type of charger I was using. Time may vary for others.

I have to say that this drone is very cool. It’s very powerful and takes off very quickly. Has a wonderful camera where I’m able to record and take beautiful HD videos. I use this at a birthday party and it was really cool to share the moment of the whole family standing next to each other and the quality was beautiful I have tried other drones that have either been too loud or the camera quality was not good. Has a great reception and comes with extra blades and three batteries! The drone is definitely worth the money for the quality. There’s a lot of options out there, but this is definitely quality

The Snaptain P40 Lite is a solid option for anyone looking to get into drones without spending a premium. One of its biggest strengths is the feature set. For the price, you get a 3-axis gimbal and 4K video, which makes a noticeable difference in how smooth and usable your footage looks compared to cheaper drones. The controls are beginner-friendly, with helpful features like one-key takeoff and landing, return-to-home, and a few smart flight modes. That makes it approachable even if you’ve never flown a drone before. In terms of performance, it’s generally stable in calm conditions and does a decent job holding position thanks to GPS. Battery life is another plus, offering around 25–30 minutes per charge. The camera, while technically 4K, doesn’t quite deliver professional-level results—colors can look a bit oversaturated, and highlights can get blown out in bright conditions. Overall, the Snaptain P40 Lite is a good mid-range drone that offers value for beginners and casual users.

Awesome drone for the price. I use the smooth speed feature and it is perfect. This is my first drone and it is well worth the money. The camera quality is awesome. Flying high up is smooth on calm days and it will stablize as some wind hits it.

This is such a cool product and has been a lot of fun to use. One of my favorite things about it is that it connects directly to my iPhone, making it incredibly easy to view footage and control everything from my phone. While it doesn’t have night vision, that isn’t a drawback for me since I don’t plan on flying it at night. I do appreciate the built-in safety features that limit how high or how far the drone can fly, which makes it feel more user-friendly and secure. The emergency return function is probably the feature that impressed me the most. It’s amazing that with just two button presses, the drone automatically returns to the exact spot where it took off. That feature provides a lot of peace of mind, especially for newer drone users. I also love how small and compact it is. It’s easy to pack and travel with, which makes it perfect for bringing along on trips. We’re taking it to our family cottage and can’t wait to capture some incredible footage and memories with it. Overall,it’s a great product that combines convenience, fun features, and portability.

I have gone through a handful of drones over the past few years and honestly most of them were disappointing Between unstable footage poor battery life confusing controls and cheap build quality I started to think good drones at a reasonable price just did not exist Then I got the Snaptain P40 Lite and it completely changed my expectations Right out of the box setup was simple and quick The controls are intuitive which made a huge difference compared to other drones I have used where even basic flying felt like a struggle Within minutes I felt confident navigating it The 3 axis gimbal camera is the standout feature The stabilization is seriously impressive no shaky footage even when flying in light wind Videos come out smooth and clean and the image quality is far better than what I expected at this price point Battery life is solid giving enough time to actually enjoy flying instead of constantly worrying about landing The drone itself feels well built and durable not flimsy like others I have owned that felt like they could break after one rough landing What really sets this apart is the overall experience it just works No constant recalibration no random drifting no frustrating disconnects Compared to my previous drones this feels like a premium upgrade in every way If you have had bad experiences with other drones like I have this is the one that restores your confidence Whether you are a beginner or just want something reliable with great video quality I highly recommend it Easily the best drone I have owned so far

I tried out the SNAPTAIN P40 Lite here in Kentucky near Rough River Lake, and it ended up being a lot of fun. I’ll admit up front: I was impatient and didn’t bother watching the instructional video before flying it, so the controls felt a little tricky at first — totally my fault, not the drone’s. Once I got it in the air, the camera and video quality were surprisingly good for the price. It handled well, stayed steady, and made it easy to get some nice shots over the yard and trees. I can tell it would be even easier to fly if I actually sat down and watched the tutorial like a normal person. Overall, it’s a solid little drone with good camera quality and a fun learning curve. I’m looking forward to taking it out again with a bit more patience next time.

The Snaptain P40 LITE 3-Axis Gimbal Camera Drone was incredibly easy to set up right out of the box. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to carry and travel with, while still delivering impressive video quality. Our college-aged son took it out for a test run with his baseball teammates and they had a great time trying out all the different modes — especially the sports mode, which worked really well for capturing action shots and movement. This drone is fun and user-friendly for all ages and experience levels. The only downside was that the product did not include a SIM card, so be prepared to purchase one separately. Overall, this is a great beginner-friendly drone with excellent features for the price.

My DJI mini 4 Pro had issues with its main board so i picked up this Snaptain camera drone. Out the gate, the motors are A LOT louder than the DJI and the camera is definitely not as good. Flying was also not great, as you had to constantly adjust the trim and its gimbal didnt do as good of a job as the DJI in windy conditions. The straw that broke the camels back was the fsct that you have to download video recordings before you could view. You couldnt quick view them as you can on the DJI drones. And the download was ungodly slow. The best option was to remove the memory card and review from a PC. Not the beat when working in the field. Too expensive as a toy and not good enough for any professional use. I ended up fixing my DJI through their repair center and it is worlds ahead of the Snaptain drones.

We're on our 3rd drone. The first one worked great but in less than a month something happened to the internal components. The 2nd one came defective out of the box. Again, a problem with the internal components. On the 3rd one now and so far it's still working. I have to say that the videos are great, when it works.
