Flys great for the price! Drone is very stable and autocorrects well.

Very easy to operate. I like the selve orienting feature - two less buttons to use. My grandson took to it easily. He say "it the bomb".

It ws easy to set up straight out the box, the easy to fly with the instructions the only problem was I wish the remote had a bigger holder for your phone i have a z fold 6 and its not compatible.

Got this for my 8 year old and he loves it. You can’t fly it when it’s to windy. For the price it is great.

I only wanted an "entry level" drone to try for fun. This one did not fit the bill. It does work, but barely. Construction seems ok and the controller and my phone pair just fine. Flying is a different matter. While it does respond to controls it tends to drift every which way, even in no wind or indoors. The live view is useless since it is way too slow and loses signal easily. I do appreciate you can capture video straight to your phone though. It already got banged up a few times so I cant even return it. I get its a cheap drone but it isnt the cheapest one either. Best Buy: why stock a product that barely works?

The manufacturer and Best Buy both take pains to make clear that this drone is not a toy. While it sure has the look and feel of a toy, it definitely is not. What makes it seem toy-like is its size and weight. The entire drone, with its propeller wings retracted into the stowed position, and the game controller-sized controller all fit inside the included carrying case that is literally no larger than an old-style metal kid’s lunchbox. The drone weighs only about one-quarter pound, so it is very light, which can be a bit of an issue when it’s at all breezy. Setup is simple, and both the quick-start guide and the user manual lead you through it in detail. The kit includes two rechargeable batteries that power the drone itself, and at least one of these needs to be charged before the drone can be used. There is an included USB-2 to USB-C cable, but there is no power brick, so you will need a separate charger to plug in the charging cable. You will also need three AAA-size batteries (not included) to power the controller. Finally, the drone has a port for but does not include a micro-SD memory card. The manual says that, while the drone can be operated and images saved to your phone without one, to capture video in high-definition, a memory card is required. Maximum size is 64 GB, and you’ll want to pick up one of these to take quality video. Also included is an extra set of propellers and a small screwdriver, which is needed to both remove the screw to open the battery compartment and to remove the propellers if any need to be replaced. Charging a battery did not take long (less than an hour), and insertion into the drone is simple, but make sure it’s oriented properly. (I had it upside down the first time and couldn’t understand why the drone would not power up.) With batteries in the controller as well, you power up both the drone and the controller, and they automatically pair. Then download the Snaptain app to your phone. Then open your wireless connection settings and connect to the drone’s network, and then start the app. The app automatically loads and puts you in control mode. You can immediately see on the phone’s display what the drone’s camera is seeing, and you can snap a photo or take a video either by pushing the proper button on the controller or the proper icon in the app. The camera lens on the drone can be adjusted to look straight ahead, straight down, or anywhere in-between by using two buttons on the controller or from the app. The drone can be controlled by either the dedicated controller or by the phone, and I have to say that I found using the controller much more satisfactory. There are dedicated buttons and two joysticks on the controller. Once you get used to where the buttons and joysticks are, it is easy to control the drone without having to look at the controller. This is not true if trying to use the app because you have to see where the icons are on the screen, so you’re always looking back at the screen. This brings up another point. The dedicated controller has a fold-out bracket that can hold any reasonably-sized phone, so you can have the display and what the camera sees right in front of you while using the controller. BUT, the bracket would not hold my phone because I have my phone in a protective case, which many people do. To have the bracket hold my phone would require removing the case. Not a big deal, but just something to know. And one more comment about using your phone. Drones are used outdoors in the daytime. I find it difficult to see my phone’s screen when it’s bright and sunny, and it can be difficult on a cloudy day, even with the brightness turned up. So, yes, you can see what the drone sees on your phone, but I would not want to spend all my time looking at the screen as you’re always instinctively moving it this way and that to try to get a little shade and actually view what’s on it. Of course, you want to see what’s on the screen if you want to start taking video or to snap a photo, so the screen is necessary. But I found myself not looking at it very often. The manuals give all the information needed to control the drone using the controller. Direction, height, and so forth are controlled by the joysticks, and there are four dedicated buttons for takeoff/landing, emergency stop, circling at a fixed radius, and doing a 360-degree “flip” or barrel-roll, respectively. There are also, as mentioned earlier, buttons to take a still photo, to take video, and to move the camera angle up and to move it down. I have to admit that, while watching the drone do a flip can be fun, I can’t figure out any situation where I would actually want or need the drone to do a flip. But whatever... As far as flying the drone, it’s easy to get the hang of it, and it’s fun. Push the take-off button, the propellers start, and the drone rises to a fixed height above the ground awaiting your next command. Use the joysticks to move it up, down, left, right, forward, and backward. Keep in mind that, as noted, the drone is very light, and, as the manufacturer recommends, it shouldn’t be use in any kind of breezy or windy situation. I used it on a very still morning with only a very light breeze barely rustling the leaves, and even then the drone needed a little more effort to move into the wind and tended to be blown slowly in the direction of the wind. I had to constantly bring it back. One thing you can do with the drone that can only be done from the app is set up a “trajectory flight,” where you trace a route on the phone’s screen, and then the drone follows that path. This could be useful if you, say, want to record video around the perimeter of something like your property. There is also a feature to help locate the drone if you lose it. By pressing the correct combination of buttons on the controller, the drone will emit a beep. This will work as long as the drone is within earshot and/or the battery has not lost too much power. The advice is to not lose the drone in the first place. Speaking of not losing it, its range is limited. The maximum height for the drone, according to the manual, is 50 meters, which is about 160 feet. That’s reasonably but not terribly high, so you aren’t going to be sending this into the clouds to capture footage of the local cityscape. But, as I said, this should be enough to capture images and video of “local” things. The maximum range is listed as 100 meters, or about 325 feet. Again, not so far away that there is a danger of losing it, but likely enough to run it around your property. I did not actually test either the height or distance ranges because I’m in somewhat of a wooded area and didn’t want to risk losing it. I like to keep it in sight and away from any trouble like trees, power lines, buildings, and so forth. To be honest, I did accidentally let it run into the branches of a small tree. The propellers that hit the leaves promptly stopped spinning, and the drone fell to the ground. But it was a grass surface, and the drone is so light that it suffered no damage and was back in the air in a few seconds, this time farther from the tree! In summary, this is a drone you can have fun with. The box says it’s for ages 14 and up, so it is easily appropriate for teenagers as well as adults. It could be something to use as a “starter” drone to get the hang of them before investing in something more sophisticated. But my guess is that this drone alone would serve the needs of a good percentage of those wanting or needing a drone.

Let me say that I felt like I was a kid again when I first used this drone. Overall not bad, I would love if in the future this device would be more high tech and HD camera……..

Its okay and has good range. The blades are kinda flimsy though.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t fully satisfied with this drone. The remote uses replaceable batteries instead of a rechargeable option, which felt a bit inconvenient. The camera quality was not as clear as I expected for 1080p, and the flight time was quite limited—around 7 to 8 minutes at most. I appreciate the effort put into the design, but I think there’s room for improvement in key areas.

Initially the drone worked as expected. After about 3 flights the Wifi drops after connecting for a few minutes so you cannot use the video functions. I tried all the Snaptain troubleshooting suggestions and it still doesn't work. I can drive it around with the remote but I bought it to use the video capabilities so this one gets one star.

Bought this for my grandson for his birthday. He loves it says it’s his favorite gift ever!! Thanks guys
