I think without Harrison ford, this spinoff has no story line

Solo star wars in s bad from beginning to the end .

Shallow attempt to honor an iconic character!!!!!!

I don't know why this movie didn't do as well as expected at the box office. But this is hands down THE BEST of the Disney Star Wars movies. It has everything you'd want in a Han Solo origin story: meeting Chewbacca, how Han got his name, his love interest before Leia, winning the Millennium Falcon from Lando, his path to meeting Jabba, and even more about those lucky dice! Donald Glover was BRILLIANT as Lando. L3 was a fascinating new take on droid personality (a la K2S0 in Rogue One). And Woody Hairelson was superb as Han's mentor. The surprise villain appearance had me scrambling to remember my Star Wars timeline and perfectly sets up a sequel (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make another one!). Kudos to Ron Howard for stepping in mid-filming to deliver this superb movie. The movie is saturated with memorable quotes and characters and I just can't stop watching it over and over. I can't imagine we won't see more of SOLO.

I came into this movie with little to no expectation. I Anticipated seeing some flashy flight sequences and small backstory scenes to establish our beloved characters. After seeing the movie twice in theaters I can easily say this movie surpassed all expectations by 12 parsecs! Alden did an incredible job of portraying a young Han, giving him ambition, some smug swagger, and planting the seed of the leader he would soon become. There are tons of references to the original trilogy, some great comedy, amazing visuals and some VERY unexpected twists and appearances. Very upset that people can't open their mind and appreciate what this movie brings because the ending provides endless possibilities to expanding the Star Wars cinematic universe. Nonetheless, very excited to add this steelbook to my collection and enjoy it for years to come!

Over the last 42 years I've seen every Star Wars movie ever made, and along with Rogue One it's one of the better films. This time we get to see the origins of Han Solo - one of the first characters from the original movie. We get to know how Han met Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, and how Han acquired the Millennium Falcon. All of this in one great movie! A must see!

Long time SW fan here since the very beginning, May 25, 1977. I found the movie enjoyable. The characters and what was going on was believable. Action and pace were good throughout the movie. The timeline for this one is 10-15 years before the events of Rogue One/A New Hope. The Empire was trying to reign in control over the Galaxy, with factions of "rebels" and "crime syndicates" appearing all over the place. There were 20 years between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope", so there is so much that can be told and seen in that timeframe. I am eager to see more of Han Solo and Chewbacca where they first come into contact with Jabba The Hutt.

This was amazing and I am so glad. The only thing I have to do is make sure you see this.

I loved this movie. I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan my whole life. I wasn’t such a big fan of the last couple new movies but Solo has the feel of the originals! There are many scenes that have subtly been modeled similarly to some of the best scenes from the original trilogy. (Something you probably wouldn’t notice if you haven’t seen the originals hundreds of times). The plot of the movie was great with lots of action and some great surprises. If you really know the old movies them you will notice many references to them that will make you smile because you know what they are talikinh about. I don’t usually write movie reviews but I had to for this movie. I’ll never understand the bad reviews. Don’t bother with the reviews, just see it for yourself!

i saw this in theaters and let me say it is amazing. its better than i imagined and i have not loved the last 2 star wars movies so this was a breath of fresh air. alden is such an amazing actor and such a great han solo i don't think they could do better. it is also nice to get someone who actually likes being han solo and loves the part unlike harrison ford who took most of his time to tear down such a awesome charactor like han solo. anyways it is a must see movie but please don't look at him as tryin to be harrison fords han solo alden makes it his own and if you embrace that you will love it too.

I absolutely refused to see this in theaters no matter how much my kids begged me to go. They went with friends & said it was good but I still refused. For $20 to watch in 9n my own theater I figured it was worth it & was it ever! Even after you enjoy watching the movie you’ll still sit there saying ‘it’s a pretty good movie, maybe I’ll watch it again (now!). I’ve read some ‘professional’ reviews on the quality of the transfer, or rather the lack thereof, & at least on my player, my projector, I didn’t see any of the macro blocking those people were talking about. I did think the sound could have used more punch but that seems to be a ‘thing’ lately with some movies. The sound certainly was very clean but I just feel the explosions should EXPLODE, not sound like the little Wile E. Coyote ‘poof’

You can't go wrong with Star Wars movies. Solo is another great story and great actors, with that magical Star Wars fantasy. Must see for any Star Wars fan!

There's a handful of reasons why SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY underperformed at the box office. None of those reasons are reflective of the actual quality of the film. I was very skeptical about them doing a movie centered on a young Han Solo, and within the first few minutes, my fears were quenched. The script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan is brilliant. Questions that we've had about Han's past for years were answered in ways that simultaneously surprised and delighted me. Ron Howard had the unenviable task of picking up directorial duties after Lord/Miller were fired but he did a terrific job recreating the look and feel of the original trilogy. Alden Ehrenreich nailed the mannerisms and attitude of Han Solo without slipping into a Harrison Ford impression. It's an unbelievable performance that really elevates this movie. The rest of this cast is great too, with the other standouts being Donald Glover as the smooth-talking Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke as Han's love interest Qi'ra. If you missed this one in theaters and have any love for Star Wars at all, this is a must-have. The home video presentation features reference-quality picture and sound, with some fascinating bonus material included on Disk 2 as well. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up on Blu-ray. You won't regret it.

As more than a casual fan of Star Wars, I can say this wasn't my favorite movie but it did fill in a bunch of gaps in the plot.

Loved seeing how he and Chewie first met. Better movie than what the haters say about it.

This isn’t a review of the movie. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll like it. If you’re not - it may still be fun, but you’ll need to understand episodes 4 and 5 of the original trilogy for it to make sense. As for why I added a “but” to my review title and gave it 5 stars: The movie deserves 5 stars. The steelbook and extras deserve 5 stars. It being in 4K when iTunes is HD only deserves 5 stars. However, Disney went cheap with the marketing of the movie (and the BR release marketing (or lack of)) and it lacks Dolby Vision. Why? Who only knows.

I felt like I was watching a Disney Channel movie with better actors and a better than usual budget, but storywise it was meh. There are worse things one could watch but nothing life altering that would have made me wish I was camped out at the movie theater.

I thought that Han Solo movie is good. Like the story and all the characters. Donald Glover did a excellent job of playing Lando. As well as the guy playing Han Solo. Just wished they would have played this movie in December. Instead of the jam-packed summer when most blockbusters are seen.

A great fast action Star Wars story that gives depth to the Star Wars saga. It gives a sentimental back story of Han Solo of how he made friendship and his love story shaped the character of the man we saw in episode IV.
