This was a made for HBO movie that I watched because the actors in it and the title intrigued me. It is based on a true story. Alan Rickman and Mos Def have extraordinary chemistry. It doesn't pull any punches either being set in the south. Def's character creates a tool and how to use it at Rickman's request. It is used to save the lives of newborns born with a congenital heart defect. I won't spoil it. Trust me, it's worth buying. It's a very reasonable price. If nothing else, anyone who wants to show their children that in spite of racial stereotypes, everyone has something to offer and some people, back then, saw the quality of the person instead of color. Not everyone, but, just watch.

Based on a true story. Important medical discovery. Watched on TV a long time ago. So glad I have the DVD. Can watch as much as I want. Thank you.

A old movie and a great one a true story brought two one for me and my brother

Its not a new release, but its a very good movie about hope and plays a good message

I enjoy movies about people who overcome discrimination in their life to become someone of importance. Well done movie just wish it was available in blu-ray. Worth a watch. Inspirational.

Excellent movie, just wish they made a blue ray version of this movie, price was affordable, very happy Best Buy had this available.

Alan Rickman (Dr. Alfred Blalock) and Mos Def (Vivien Thomas) play a perfect pair in one of HBO's best movies. Based on real life doctors who pioneered heart surgery. A must see.

THIS MOVIE WAS EXCELLENT AND VERY ENCOURAGING TO THE FACT THAT YOU CAN BECOME WHATEVER YOU WANT IF YOU WORK HARD ENOUGH.
