Retrofit kit is needed if you are cutting the speakers into the ceiling. These enclosures will keep dust, insulation and other contaminates from compromising your speakers.

They look nice !!! Keeps the sound its place and helps your speakers have longevity due to insulation. If you trying to keep the sound in its place and keeps from going Thu the walls or next floor above, this is it. Look at them, a little high but worth it

I thought these were a little pricey for plastic covers, but they are very well-made. They fit perfectly and have a rubber gasket that runs the full perimeter of the cover, giving a tight seal on the back of the speaker, preventing any dust dirt or debris intrusion into the speaker. This was a must for me as I have blown in insulation in my attic. The first two speakers, I installed a fabricated cardboard boxes with some foam rubber insulation in the back by the time I spent couple hours doing that as well as buying cement to glue them down this was much faster and easier. Plus, you can install the backings prior to installing the speaker and it just makes for a very quick and easy installation I cannot really speak as any acoustic benefits or hindrance. I tested the speaker both with and without the backing cap couldn’t really tell a significant difference between either. I’m quite sure the covers do help muffle any sound emanating from the back of the speaker as far as bleeding into the rest of the house. Overall, very satisfied with the product and do recommend

I recently had the Geek Squad install my home theatre. The home came pre-wired with a 5-speaker surround sound configuration, so I decided to get the Sonance 5.1 speaker kit. I added these enclosures to the install to protect the speakers from insulation and dust that are certain to drop, no doubt causing vibrations and interference with the speaker cones. I was glad I did because a lot of insulation dropped from the holes cut for the speakers and these enclosures are a necessity. They are actually designed quite nice with nice lettering and two sets of terminals for hooking up the speaker wire. It's almost a shame they have to be hidden. They include a rubber gasket, also to prevent any speaker vibration. The enclosures also help with directing the sound into the room and not all over the attic space. My only complaint is that they are sold in pairs, and since I only needed 5, I have an extra enclosure that I should never need...that could have saved me about $30 to spend on things like subwoofer cables, etc.

These Sonance 6" Speaker Enclosures fits perfectly to the speaker. They were very easy to install. Protects speakers from insulation dust and debris. Keeps sound contained in the desired room, instead of through other rooms (bleed over). These enclosures come in pairs. Well worth the price.

Good quality. I got these and the corresponding sonance ceiling speakers because it seemed costly to get other backboxes for other ceiling speakers. I'm not sure why manufacturers don't make backboxes/enclosures for their ceiling speakers. This also protects against debris from my attic. Pretty simply to set up and install. My electrician installed it for me.

In-ceiling and in-wall speakers have the issue if sound bleeding into the attic space instead of towards fhe listener. This helps alleviate the issue and is definitely noticeable. My tech installed it with and without to show the difference and immediately justified my purchase for this add-on. Highly recommend.

So I took a chance and purchased these for my Sonos Architectural speakers, because Sonos and Sonance did not know if these enclosures would work(or they existed). And they worked like they were made for the Sonos in-ceiling speakers. Cheapest speaker enclosure you can find and they work great. They do add some height to the speaker, so keep that in mind if you clearance restrictions.

Perfect fit for my setup. Helps protect the speaker behind the ceiling and keep sound from leaking. It adds a couple extra inches of depth which was more than fine for my setup.

I wish that I purchased these when I purchased my speakers, it would have made installation much easier. They were an easy install otherwise and gives me piece of mind that I don't have debris falling into my speaker. I haven't noticed a sound difference.

These are great covers for your Sonance speakers. They provide an excellent seal with the included ring. Make sure your screwdriver is sized appropriately as you can strip the screws if you're not careful. They also add some height to the speaker, but still fit between the studs. The only reason I didn't give 5-stars was because I think if you buy in ceiling speakers they should be included.

Really does make a difference for in ceiling speakers. They just sound better, a little fuller and rich. Very glad I bought these, if you're going to buy good speakers you may as well go all out and get these if you are wondering on buying them.

Im giving this a 3 star rating solely because these enclosures reduced the sound quality of my sound. I was surprised how muffled the bass and sound got, and didnt get that great midbase thump I had prior to installing.
Installation was a breeze and instructions were easy to follow.
I would only recommend this product if you are trying to minimize sound seeping into other parts of the house and to protect your speaker from anything that might damage them and thats it.
