Tomm Moore, who also created the magical Secret of Kells, has crafted another gem of a children's movie. This focuses on dealing with grief and loss in a way that does not talk down to children. Instead, it teaches to embrace all of our emotions. By building the story around the folklore of Ireland, Song of the Sea helps introduce rich storytelling that is not Grimm-centric.

I got this based on a few recommendations from people I trust and it left me absolutely speechless. Song of the Sea is meticulously crafted - every frame adds to the overall experience. Nothing is wasted or superfluous. I've only recently seen it but I can say with complete honesty that this is one of the finest animated films I've ever seen and easily ranks with the best of Pixar and Ghibli. It's as magical a film that can be made.

This is a beautiful movie. It's a very emotional subject of a children loosing their mother and the hardships a father must endure trying to raise and comfort his children and the emotions the children feel. My granddaughter loved this movie. Some children at an early age are faced with loosing a loved one, I highly recommend this movie for family night at the movies.

This animated movie will appeal to those who loved Secret of the Kells that was released in 2010. The animation is the same style and strives to enchant all viewers. If you are familiar with the legends of the selkie, then you are half way there to knowing what to expect. It is a beautiful story of love, and belonging. A must see for all.

Very creative and good family fun. Bring the family together and enjoy a " Story". In the sense of how stories were passed down from generation to generation, before the computer age. Have your family put away their cell phone and get together and watch a very creative and entertaining animated movie.

I can't fault any part of this movie. The story is captivating, the characters are endearing, the artistic work is incredibly beautiful (none better), and the voice actors draw you in to the story with every word. Whether you have children or not, you need to buy this movie.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this movie, but for the price I thought I'd give it a shot. It was amazing! The story was cute and touching and the storytelling reminded me of something from Studio Ghibli. I loved it and I would totally recommend it!

The animated feature The Song of the Sea is an excellent film which my wife and I and our children enjoyed watching. The artwork is beautiful in this film (puts Disney to shame at times, I thought), and the storyline is quite entertaining. Well worth purchasing.

This movie has amazing artwork and music. My daughter, who is an art major, especially appreciated it. I watched it with three of my children, and they all really enjoyed it. It is definitely an Irish movie though, but ended better than I expected.

This was a blind buy for me, and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. However, I ended up really enjoying it. The film is like eye candy because it's so beautiful. I would pick this animated film over Big Hero 6 any day.

This is a wonderfully written story of regret and redemption. The animation and soundtrack are both so beautiful. Very good for all ages.

This is an amazingly well done movie. The hand drawn Visuals are simply stunning and the songs are beautiful. The Blu-ray looked great and the sound was very clear on my TV and sound system.

This enjoyable film has wonderful animation using a beautiful palette of colors alongside beautifully illustrated characters and scenery and a fantastic story to go with it.

The Selkie Irish Tale told with great music from Kila and fantastic animation! If you enjoyed The Secret of Kells you will definitely treasure this movie by the same production team.

This is an excellent animated tale by the same group responsible for The Secret of Kell, which won many awards. Very original animation style and very well done.

The story is kinda similar to The Secret of Roan Innish (which I LOVE) with the story of the sulky and the skin. My 10 year old really liked it, I did too.

If you were a fan of The Secret of Kells, then you owe it to yourself to pick up Tomm Moore's second feature. This is a beautiful film that reminds us how fresh and simple hand drawn animation can be. The story is a little light and silly, but it is rich in Irish myths and legends. It deserved its Best Animated Film nomination.

A mythological animated film with good musical numbers lush backgrounds and wonderful characterization. Very long at times and mature themes will need parents explanation for some of the events that happen in it (for younger kids who might be watching) Artistic film with a unique take on an Irish fairy tale.

It's a wonderful animation. I really enjoyed the story. The blu-ray combo has some great extra features as well. I really enjoy the animation tests.
