A decent, beautiful Sonic game, not perfect

I've been waiting to get this particular game for a while, due to some mixed reception that it got from the gaming community at large. Some want to decry it as yet another misstep for the rocky road that is the Sonic series, and others say it's a nice callback to the old Sega Genesis days.
It's definitely one of the more unique entries of the series, and I'm still trying to decide if that's a good or bad thing. While this puts the focus more on platforming in favor of blasting through levels like many of the previous games, it has a weird, somewhat uncomfortable feel that definitely takes some getting used to. Sonic doesn't really run until you hold down the right trigger on the controller, with is jarring considering that no other game before it required another button press to do what the blue blur is known for. It's really easy to forget about this and find everything to feel much slower than you'd expect. There's also no real tutorial, and while I appreciate not having my hand held for every little thing, a practice area would have been nice. This is really going to be a love it or hate it kind of game, and I'd suggest downloading the demo off the Nintendo eShop to see if it's for you.
If there's one thing the game has going for it, it's just how pretty and colorful it looks. Like I said before, there's some definite influence from the classic days of the series, rather than the slightly more realistic look of the Adventure games or Unleashed. And I think there's even a hint of Nintendo's own famous series in here as well. There's a light story as well, and veterans of the series can probably guess how it'll go down early on; Sonic is known for twist and turns in his levels, not his plots.
In short, if you're a fan of the famous blue hedgehog, I say give it a go. There's much worse games out there, especially in this series.

Sonic has had his ups and downs, Sonic Lost World adds a new spin to the Sonic 3D formula without much success or failure. The game is entertaining most of the time with minor annoyances along the way. Sonic Lost World also gives you access to two free Nintendo cross-over pieces of content through the eShop and was a joy to play if anything for the fan service.
If you're itching for a Sonic game go with this one rather than Sonic Boom.

Very disappointed in this after the great release of Sonic Colors. Sonic 4 and Generations both are great as well, and then we get this. Sonic is not Mario but they sure tried making him that way. All speed and fluid gameplay felt lost. A beautiful game graphically but it felt way too jagged
