Ordered it got the standard version instead of the plus edition second try after returning the first one same version Standard edition be Aware you will not get as described on bestbuy website clearly shows PLUS edition.

I love this game. it brings back so many memories but in a new way!

If you grew up on the Sonic games of the Genesis-era, this game is for you. The nostalgia will hit you big time, and it is incredibly welcoming. The gameplay is 2D Sonic at its best, and the soundtrack is stellar, and more than worthy of the Sonic brand. Sonic Mania is a passionate tribute to the Sonic games you loved growing up, and a modern achievement in remixing the old with new ideas. Mania proves that 2D Sonic can be fun and relevant in 2018.

If you grew up in the 90's like I did, you'll love playing those old Sonic games again. If you didn't you will anyway if you like fun video games. And the price is awesome!

Taken as a full package this is arguably the best Sonic game there is. Mania mode is fun as ever, the cast is fuller, and the bonus challenges, unlockables, Encore mode and multiplayer makes for a game that earns its spot on the retail shelf. Some existing owners might wonder whether two extra characters, remixed singleplayer and revamped splitscreen is worth the upgrade given there's no substantially new levels to speak of, but I think it's a fine way to extend the experience.

Classic Sonic goodness. This game brings back the 2D gameplay from the original games and does a really good job at it. Best Buy sells this as the Plus edition with the Encore DLC but beware that the game you will receive is NOT the Plus edition even though that's how it's sold. Either way, great game and great price for the non-Plus version.

The game is great (I played it on PC) and a great call back to the old school Sonic games I grew up with. Sadly, I bought and returned this one because the sale was for Sonic Mania Plus and Best Buy was sending out the regular Sonic Mania game. It was a widespread issue and sucks we all couldn't get what we ordered.

Best Buy sent the wrong item. I received regular SONIC MANIA. I chatted with Best Buy customer service before ordering to confirm that what I was ordering was indeed SONIC MANIA PLUS. The item description needs to be fixed because it is deceptive.

I remember playing Sonic with my kids when they were young. I'm having a ball playing Sonic now on my PS4. Brings back a lot of memories. The game has great graphics and if you enjoyed it back in the day, then you will enjoy this version. Happy gaming.

I've enjoyed Sonic games in the past but not 'loved' them. I was looking forward to this as a fan-driven "return to form" modern Sonic game, and for the most part, it succeeds! Beautiful worlds and audio, performs well on my regular PS4. Cool new level designs and features. Unfortunately, a few things hold the game back. In my opinion the levels rely a little too heavily on 'gimmicks' and strange obstacles that aren't in keeping with Sonic's strengths (going fast). There are some lengthy boss fights which are hard to figure out on the fly in a 2D space. (The boss is onscreen, but I can't hurt it for the first 30 seconds?? Some of its body is in the background of the scene? I couldn't tell.) This is hard to forgive in a game where Sonic can die in as little as 2 hits. All this is made worse by the fact that the game uses old fashioned "Game Overs", which after losing all your extra lives will force you to restart the WORLD, not the LEVEL, you were playing. If one of those tricky bosses gets you, you lost about 20 minutes of progress. An acceptable design choice in 1991, but absolutely not here. I can't believe there isn't an option to turn this "feature" off, as it discouraged me in a hurry from playing the final world and boss fight. It's an impressive Sonic game but it wasn't quite for me. Check it out if you're interested, though. A lot of love clearly went into its development, and the included art book is a nice bonus.

I bought this game for my daughter to play. She's almost a teenager and said she was too old for it. So I started playing it thinking, "well I already bought it so I might as well try it"...It is A BLAST!!! You'll love this game! By the way, she saw how much fun I was having and now we both play it!!!

This Brings me back to when I had it on Sega. If you have small kids they would live this.

"Sonic Mania Plus" is an upgraded version of the previously released "Sonic Mania". The main difference here is the addition of 2 new characters (Mighty & Ray) and Encore Mode, which is essentially the same as Mania Mode but tweaks a few things. Encore features a new pinball bonus stage (which allows you to earn power-ups, rings, and continues), palette-swapped levels, and the ability to switch between all 5 characters. For those unacquainted with the original "Sonic Mania", it's basically an HD remix of the first few Sonic games previously released for the Sega Genesis/Sega CD in the early 90s. Think of it as a "best of" of sorts...plus there's new bosses and level elements abound, and a few entirely new zones to boot: Studiopolis, Mirage Saloon, Press Garden, and Titanic Monarch. And did I mention an entirely new music score as well? That's always nice. So is it worth it? For veterans and initiates alike, the answer is YES! While the majority of what's offered here is reused assets, there's enough new paint to warrant a purchase for the asking price. It's the most refined, most balanced incarnation of a classic Sonic game to date!

If you’re a huge sonic fan, you’ll love this game. Just think of it as a better version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The graphics do have some improvement compared to the sonic the hedgehog 2 game that’s included in the sega genesis collection game. Don’t buy that one. Stick to sonic mania if you just want the sonic game.

If you are an original Sonic the Hedgehog fan, then you will love Sonic Mania. It is well done by a team of Sonic fans and purists. The game uses ideas from Sonic 2 & 3 and Sonic CD and fuses them all together into a new experience that feels very nostalgic for fans of the original releases. You will love this game if you are a retro Sonic fan.

An absolute amazing game! Truly brought back my childhood memories. The last version played was on the Sega Dreamcast. Thank you PlayStation! For $30, well worth every penny! Great graphics and challenging enough for both me and my son (7yo) to spend hours playing the game! Also came with a nice booklet. Beyond pleased.

Got this for my 10 year old son for Christmas and he was so excited he has been a sonic fan forever and now he can’t stop playing . I prefer him playing this game over other violent games because I used to play sonic on my SEGA génesis when I was a kid so watching him play takes me back lol!!!
