I might have gotten a defective piece for that reason I returned. I found the sound little hallow and not to the likes of Bose QC or Sony XM5. One push switch to connect to your existing sound system felt magical

Very disappointed the headphones do not work through WiFi and very limited use in the Sonos system. The sound is great but should be able to use same as any other Sonos speaker.

Based on reviews I’ve seen this product is kind of hyped. But didnt meet my expectations interma of quality and comfort.

I am a big Sonos fan. I have at least one speaker in each room of my house with 3 5.1 setups. This is the first product I’ve been disappointed with.

Bought them and took them back 2 hours later . If you like the features then great , like the tv to headphones was cool , and for movies it was alright but for Music . It was a joke. like 0 bass and all highs.

Soundbar by sonos not recognize. Great as phone and Apple music sound. Wont connect to soundbar at all.

I have quite a few of the Sonos products whether it’s for outdoors my living room, so I assume that headphones are gonna be as equal quality. If not even better, but totally a let down. I do not recommend based off of their other equipment.

I am going to start this review with a TL; DR of sorts. I have some thoughts, but long story short, the Sonos Ace headphones are on par with the top tier ANC headphones on the market today. I evaluated these under three categories that meant the most to me, and they land in the top three of wireless ANC headphones I have experienced. I would recommend these to two groups of people, people who are Sonos system users definitely, and those that are looking for a solid set of travel headphones. For the full retail price, there are some other options out there that might be a better value, but these offer enough unique strengths to really consider them. For more detail, read on. I want to first discuss my experience with the ANC, as well as transparency mode. These characteristics are arguably one of the most important features, if not the most, for travelers looking at efficient and effective headphones. I used the ANC function in three environments that I think would give me a broad experience of this function. First was sitting in a city square with traffic, people walking and talking, businesses, etc. The Aces handled this environment great. The loud sounds were all but eliminated, and while I could still hear people talking, they were distant and quiet while sitting in silence. When I turned on content, there was no sign of the outside world. I own one brand of ANC headphones that have been objectively regarded as one of the two best on the market by many reviewers and users in the world, and these were identical to my experience with those. The other brand highly regarded I have experienced, but not significantly and again these stood among them also. I then pushed the mode button, which sidenote, is easy to find on the side of the right earcup and is prominent enough to know for sure that’s what is, and everything opened to me. I would say it’s not the same as nothing on my ears, but it was super clear, not electronic sounding and was incredibly easy to talk to someone and not feel that “cotton in the ear” feel. I was truly impressed. I would say for me these beat the other two that I compared. Second, I sat in a room with other content playing through a room filling sound system. Again, these did an amazing job of removing low frequencies, and the voices were distant and quiet. I could easily sit in a room like this and be happy listening to my own content. Third I played in that room sound system a simulated, in-cabin jet noise to see how these would handle a plan ride. I will say for me they don’t eliminate the jet noise, but I liken it to a light white noise that goes completely away with any content and if say I were using these to sleep on a flight, the white noise effect felt soothing. These also are pretty comfy, not feeling too clampy on my larger than average head and are not what I would consider heavy on the head. The only thing I noticed when testing is that the cup padding got a bit warm for me. I think it’s the material, a vegan leather, which is soft, and seals great, but doesn’t breathe all that well. I don’t completely fault these for that though because I’ve had similar experiences with many other over ear headphones. This is why I often grab ear buds if the truly immersive experience isn’t necessary. ANC/Transparency 9/10. Fit/Comfort 8.5/10. The Aces offer an incredible sound profile, in my opinion. I tested the sound two ways, with a direct Bluetooth connection to my device offering AAC codec, and through a DAC attached to my device that offers Apt X Adaptive codec, which is an option offered by the Aces. I will say that for most people, the AAC direct connect is fabulous. It has meaningful separation in the earcups, much broader than what I’ve come to expect in headphones, and it doesn’t feel like I’m sitting next to a boombox. Soundstage is great. With Apt X Adaptive, it took the soundstage and boosted clarity and detail. I could hear so many more nuanced instruments in the tracks, using Apple Music lossless, it just brought everything to life. The music was punchier and more immersive too. I recommend getting a device like a DAC or a phone with Apt X Adaptive capability to experience this. I will say that there is limited tweaking in the app for these, with a bass and treble slider, along with a toggle for loudness. I tweaked them a bit, but overall it didn’t make a huge difference and would say the out-of-the-box spot is probably good for most people and most content. Moving to other media, I was curious to try out what Sonos built in when paired with the Arc soundbar. I wasn’t quite sure when Dolby Atmos would show up, whether that was with content, or if it needed the soundbar, or a combination. I first tried direct BT to my device and played a Dolby Atmos content on Netflix. It produced a very similar profile to the music, wide soundstage, somewhat immersive, but not Atmos like. Then I paired it with the Arc. There was the Atmos. Rain was above, around, and through me. I could make out when a car would show up on the scene, and where it was coming from. When there was an explosion, it felt like it was pushing through me. Through the Aces I was getting a true surround sound experience. Which is so cool. Of course, this will be missing if you are traveling and are watching something on a plane, but honestly even without that effect these were immersive enough that I wouldn’t hesitate to take these on a trip. I am not a usual user of head tracking features in headphones, but tried the option in the app. It does a great job of anchoring the sound in front of you and if you turn your head, it immediately and naturally reacts. I will say these are no tied for my favorite sounding over-ear headphones for sure. Sound 10/10. The Sonos app at the time I evaluated these had just gotten an update, presumably to accommodate these. I found it to be typical of my experience with other Sonos products, basic, easy, clean. This is where you set up the pairing with the Arc, this is where the equalizer is, this is where you go to update firmware. I noticed some delays with pairing the app to the Aces from time to time, when I knew the BT connection was there, so I expect more refining in the app going forward. Also, I would note that you do not have to use the app with these, they pair in the BT settings of your device. So, for quick connects it’s not a lengthy process. App 7/10. Overall, the Aces don’t disappoint. They are well made, sound amazing, and have a very effective environmental mode selection. I have felt that there is a market trend to inflate prices on headphones recently with reliance on name more than things that set them apart. I would say here these have that issue too. I think the value proposition here is tough, considering some of its banner features require additional hardware, which can be expensive. What the Aces can do on their own is good though so they keep up with top tier products, but it would be nice to see Sonos consider some of the compromises and price it accordingly. Value 6/10

PROS - Excellent sound and noise canceling performance - Light weight/comfortable - Great phone audio w/2 device connectivity - Arc to Ace audio handover CONS - Sonos ecosystem integration leaves something to be desired SUMMARY Sonos nailed all the criteria of what makes an excellent pair of ANC headphones and overall exceed my expectations but missed the mark of delivering a truly unique Sonos experience. STYLE/CASE Modern, clean styling. The chrome frictionless headband adjustment is really nice. The case is made of a nice hard felt material and is pretty slim, though due to the texture it did seem to collect dirt and dog hair. COMFORT/CONTROLS These are lightweight and I had no issues wearing these all day in the office or on a run. Earcups are comfy, magnetically attached, and user replacable. I have a big head and I didn’t think the compression of the headband was too firm or tight. The physical buttons are easy to locate and easy to use. PHONE CALLING The Ace supports 2 phones being connected which is important for me since I carry both personal and work devices. The microphones on the Ace exceeded my expectations of delivering a high-quality audio calling experience for both me and the people on my calls/meetings by cutting out environmental noise very effectively. This is a feature that makes/breaks whether headphones become my daily drivers and the Ace delivers. AUDIO QUALITY The audio engineering know-how of Sonos really shines through here, because the Ace does not sound like a first-generation attempt. The Ace has great balanced audio with great channel separation where you can really hear the details in your music. Sometimes I felt it was a little lacking on the low side, but personally I was able to adjust the EQ to get this to my liking, but users who like a lot of bass may miss out here. SONOS ACE + ARC The highlight feature which allows a user to switch from listening to Dolby Atmos audio on their Sonos home theater (with Arc soundbar) to a similar experience with head tracking and spatial audio on the Ace. This is great if you are like me and live with other people, but don't want to compromise your listening experience and the immersion of Atmos when watching movies. The feature was easy to set up through the app and then by holding the content button you can automatically switch the audio over! In my experience it just worked and was very seamlessly at that. SONOS APP I was able to quickly get the headphones setup and updated through my Sonos app and easily adjust the EQ settings, noise cancellation settings, and set up the TV audio swap within 10 or so minutes. The settings section of the app has all the options I would expect for adjusting wear detection for answering phone calls or pausing music and enabling things like headtracking. My biggest critique is that while these are Sonos headphones the app makes the headphones and the rest of my Sonos speakers feel disjointed. In fact, the speakers and headphones are listed separately from one another. Since the Ace lacks WiFi, audio playing on another Sonos speaker besides TV audio on the Arc can’t be migrated over to the Ace. Not treating the Ace as another Sonos speaker where I already have all my music services integrated feels like a missed opportunity. Nonetheless, these are a great set of headphones and both Sonos and non-Sonos users will enjoy and appreciate the audio performance and noise canceling that the these deliver.

The Sonos Ace headphone are a sleek set of headphones that look good, are well thought out and are a must have for those in the Sonos ecosystem. In terms of controls and design, the Sonos beat out the competition. The headphones feel premium but are lightweight at the same time. Quality plastic is used to make the headphones light and stainless steel is used ion areas where it is needed. There are no crazy touch gestures, just intuitive tactile movements of a single button to increase volume, decrease volume, pause, play skip etc. Then a second button to toggle between transparent mode and active noise cancellation. Now the reason to get these headphones over the competition is that it does audio well and it interfaces with your Sonos soundbar instantly. What I mean by that is if there is someone in your house that always keeps others up because they are watching TV or playing a game console where you Sonos Arc is connected then you can get that audio beamed directly to your Sonos Ace headphones. It is effortless which is what you expect from Sonos. When watching movies at home with your Sonos Ace headphones, you really do feel like you haven’t given up the surround sound system for the comfort of the household. ON top of the phenomenal sound, The 3d space audio mapping changes the sound depending on where your head is turned to. Areas of improvement for Sonos are: -roll out support for android -roll out compatibility with other sound bars faster -active noise cancellation must improve TO expand on that last point, there were one too many times where I felt like I needed to increase the volume higher than I needed to on other ANC headphones in order to drown out the noise. All in all I would select the Sonos Ace over anything else on the market if you are in the Sonos ecosystem or plan to be, since it is very useful to be able to beam the sound bar audio straight to them in addition to the fantastic audio quality they provide for music and general media consumption.

I am a fan of Sonos products. I think that they make quality, affordable, good sounding products. The Sonos Ace headphones are no different. The build quality of these headphones is excellent. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear. The earpieces are a plush foam with a soft leather cover. They fit around my ears nicely and were comfortable to wear for many hours without issue. Setup of the headphones was easy with the Sonos app. There is an equalizer inside of the Sonos app that can be used to tweak the sound, but the headphones sound great out of the box. Sound was clear and immersive when streaming content. The headphones have spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and the music adjusts as you move. There are also sensors in the ear cups to detect if they are being worn. When they are taken off, Sonos Ace will automatically pause your content then restart it when they are put back on. I did not have any issues with streaming via Bluetooth or through the included USB-C to 3.5mm cable. Calls were clear when using them with my iPhone. The headphones have Active Noise Cancellation that works very well to neutralize external sounds. There is also an Aware mode that lets in ambient sounds so you can hear what’s going on around you while you listen to your music. Both of these modes can be activated by a button on the right earpiece or through the Sonos app. There is also a content button on the right earpiece that is uses play/pause content or change the volume. The content button can also be held down to activate TV audio swap. TV audio swap is a neat feature that allows you to swap audio from a Sonos Arc soundbar to your Sonos Ace headphones. TV audio swap is nice when you do not want to disturb others, and the sound through the headphones was immersive when using this feature. Like other premium headphones, they have the ability to connect to two Bluetooth devices at one time. This allowed me to watch a movie with the headphones while still maintaining a connection to my iPhone to be able to take calls without ever taking off the headphones. Battery life was good. Charging is through the included USB-C to USB-C cable, and the headphones will last about 30 hours on a charge. They also have a rapid charging feature that when the Sonos Ace reaches 10% power or lower, rapid charging will give you 3 hours of playback with just 3 minutes of charging. Overall, the Sonos Ace is a great set of headphones with many innovative features. Sound quality is excellent. Battery life is good. They are lightweight and comfortable. They look, feel, and sound like a premium product. Sonos supports their products and I would expect that, as the product matures and firmware/software updates are issued, they will only get better. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality set of headphones. A+

These headphones are simply perfect - even if you are not in the Sonos ecosystem. However, having a Sonos device capable of the TV Audio Swap feature takes it to another level. Currently the TV Audio Swap works only on the Sonos Arc, but other devices will be supported in the future. The initial unboxing experience is premium. Sonos has some of the best packaging and the Ace is no exception. The box included a travel case and cable pouch, a USB type C to type C table and a 3.5mm to USB type C cable. The cables are wrapped in such a nice way within the packaging. The headphones are very comfortable and lighter than I was expecting. The headband is padded and I’m able to wear them with glasses for long periods without any discomfort. Using the Sonos app on an iPhone, I was able to quickly add the headphones - there are also some features of the app. It has an EQ, Head Tracking toggle, the ability to turn on multiple device connections, enable the TV Audio Swap, and options for the hardware controls. It is great to have the headphones in the familiar Sonos app along with my other devices. The sound is amazing. Listening to music provides plenty of bass, but it is clear and not muddled. Mid tones and highs come in clear and bright. Classical music has an unparalleled clarity and precision that must be heard to be appreciated. At the same time, podcasts and other casual listening is just great. The home theater experience when using the TV Audio Swap feature is so nice to have. You long press the control button and switch to the Arc soundbar, it is simple and just works. Sound is detailed and immersive. I love that you can have such a great audio experience without disturbing others. Wear detection works flawlessly and I appreciate that the inside of the ear cups are different colors so that you know how to put them on at a glance. Noise cancelling works just as well if not better than other headphones I’ve used. The hardware controls are intuitive and I much prefer them over touch controls. The battery last a long time (up to 30 hours) and can fast charge as well. Simple put, these are the perfect headphones for me. The combination of features plus physical controls and TV Audio integration put these above anything else.

When I used them I didn't like the sound, but acceptable. but the reason for returning it was that when there is no music on the right side you can hear something and it bothers me

After all the suspense of Sonos releasing these I was very disappointed. You can’t justified spending this much on these headphones. Returned after one week.
