The dual tweeters provide impressive stereo separation, creating an enveloping experience whether you're listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.

Sonos has integrated advanced features that make the Era 100 incredibly user-friendly. It supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing seamless streaming from a variety of devices. Voice assistant compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Sonos Voice Control ensures hands-free operation, while the Trueplay tuning technology adapts the sound to your room's acoustics, delivering optimal performance no matter where the speaker is placed.

Let me start by saying I have owned almost every product Sonos has put out for the last 10 years do to its amazing sound and wireless ability and my home system sounds amazing because of it. So I was curious what the new Era 100's sounded like compared to the Sonos One's I currently have scattered throughout my home.
First off I like the new look of the speaker. It stands just under an inch taller than the Sonos One's and has a sleeker more modern look to it (see photo). I wanted this speaker as a stand alone for my family room and couldn't think of a better product to add to my Sonos family of speakers.
I first made sure I used there app to set the "True Sound" for this speaker in the room we chose to place it. Super easy to do.
So let's talk about the sound quality...
I am pretty particular when it comes to speakers. One thing I look for is if the speaker produces clean, clear sound. The other is the base that is produced without sounding muddy or over powering which most lower end speakers tend to do. Lastly, I test the speaker on how it performs when it reaches max volume or close to it. Well I have to tell you, that I am utterly impressed. The Era 100 produces clean spacious sound like I have multiple speakers in the room and some how is still able to produce the deep rich sounding base without it overpowering the highs. So far so good, now time to crank this thing up. The result? My wife and I couldn't believe what was coming out of this one speaker. It was absolutely cranked with zero distortion! I am baffled how this much sound comes out of this speaker! I can't believe how good this Era 100 is compared to the One. You can definitely add these to your sound bar for some great surround sound. I am so stoked I got this and 100% recommend to anyone looking for a stand alone or upgrade to there current wireless speaker system. Sonos is the way to go!

The Era 100 is Sonos’s high-end entry-level Wi-Fi smart speaker that is the replacement for their popular Sonus One. The reason why I use the term “high-end entry-level” is because while the Era 100 is Sonos’s entry level smart speaker, the sound quality is clearly much better than something like an Echo Dot. Compared to many other company’s entry level products, the Era 100 is high-end in terms of sound quality.
The Era 100 came packaged in an eco-friendly box along with an AC power cord and quick start pamphlet.
Setup was fairly easy. You just download the Sonos app, plug in the speaker and use the app to set it up. For some reason, I was not able to complete the setup using my Coolpad Legacy phone. My phone was able to find the Era 100 but then gave an error message about not being able to complete the setup. Luckily, I was able to use my Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to complete the installation. Using Trueplay to optimize the sound in my room was as simple as tapping an icon and then hearing a series of sounds being played while the speaker calibrated itself.
I decided to set up the Era 100 to use Sonos’s own voice assistant. I was interested in how it compares with other voice assistants like Alexa and Google. You can get its attention by saying, “Hey Sonos” and I was pleasantly surprised to recognize the voice of Giancarlo Esposito when it responded to my requests. The Era 100 also supports Alexa and you can supposedly have both voice assistants working at the same time.
One interesting thing about the Sonos voice assistant is that all voice processing occurs locally and your voice requests are not sent to the cloud which might be of interest for those who are more privacy minded.
I found the Sonos voice assistant to be very responsive. The built-in mic was always able to hear and understand my requests. It’s only meant to handle basic music and playback requests but it can tell you the time and what song is currently playing if you ask for it.
I’m still getting familiar with it but I haven’t been able to figure out how to get it to play songs/albums that I purchased from either Amazon Music or Apple Music. If I say, “Hey Sonos, play Michelle Branch”, the Era 100 will just play one song and stop. So far, it seems like it can only play music continuously if I request it to play a particular radio station and not from a particular artist. The Era 100 also supports Plex but it was not able to find my local Plex media server which stores my local library of music.
The Era 100 can also playback music through Bluetooth and line in (using an optional Line-In adapter). I successfully paired it with my Samsung tablet and playback using Bluetooth sounded great. Including Bluetooth playback is great to have and adds to the Era 100’s versatility but I will probably mostly be using Wi-Fi playback.
I do not own the Sonos One so I can’t comment on how the Era 100 compares to it in terms of sound quality but I can compare it to other smart speakers from other companies in my collection.
Google Home Mini
Sony LFS50G
Insignia NS-CSPGASP
Amazon Echo Dot (2nd and 3rd Generation)
Amazon Echo (1st Generation)
Ultimate Ears MegaBlast
Harman/Kardon Invoke
Belkin SoundForm Elite
Overall, I prefer the sound quality from the Era 100 the best. When I first heard music playing from the Era 100, I couldn’t help but smile and think, “Wow! This sounds really good!”. It is noticeably better sounding than my memory of how my other wireless speakers sounded.
The Era 100 provides a very crisp, neutral, full bodied and spacious sound that I found very pleasing – especially considering the size of the unit. Vocals and instruments come through very clearly. The bass is impressive and punchy but not boomy or dull. If you sit around the sweet spot, the soundstage seems wide and immersive and I would say that a single speaker is almost good enough to be a replacement for a conventional stereo system. I can only imagine how good it would be to get another one to pair up as a stereo pair.
Different genres of music sounded great on it. I played music from different artists (Michelle Branch, Kim Wilde, etc.) and movie soundtracks (Superman, Aliens etc.) to test it out along with my tech and programming podcasts. The Era 100 does a great job with all of them.
I am becoming a convert to the idea of having wireless speakers replacing my bulky conventional stereo system. The sound quality is about the same but the convenience and flexibility is much better. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a wireless speaker.

I must acknowledge the effort by SONOS in the packaging. They somehow provided a nice unboxing experience while maintaining an environmentally friendly touch. Visually, the ERA 100 looks like any other classic wireless speaker. That’s not a bad thing as it goes well in any setting, especially in my office. I appreciate the matte-black finish of my unit since it does not smudge easily, although it does attract some dust. It is on the larger side and has some weight to it, and so it feels like it is well-built and durable.
On the top, there are easy-to-understand touch controls and a volume “slider”, which are intuitive and responsive. There are also switches in the back for voice privacy and Bluetooth pairing. Out of the box, the speaker is ready to go via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm connection. Pairing is super easy. Having said that, to get the most out of this unit it is extremely important to download the SONOS app and setup the speaker. The process is virtually painless. The robust app allows for registration, updates, controls, mics, EQ customization (excellent!) and many other options. The “Trueplay” option is quite interesting as it makes the speaker emit a sound that “tunes” the sound signature based on the configuration of the room or space. I originally thought it was a bit gimmicky, but eventually found that it does make a difference acoustically.
Speaking of acoustics, I am quite impressed with the overall sound the ERA 100 produces. At default settings, the sound signature is more on the mainstream warm side, but that’s what I look for in this type of product. The bass is booming -and I mean it, giving that subwoofer feeling. While the bass may be a bit loose, it has enough control for impact without overriding any other frequencies or distort at high volume. The mids are a bit suppressed, but still present enough to allow for crisp vocals, rhythm instruments, choruses, etc. The treble is well defined, adding clarity, and makes high frequency vocals, rifts, lead guitars, violin, and piano sound great. The speaker can get very loud and fills a mid-size room well. While the unit features a dual-speaker stereo configuration, I found it a bit difficult to discern the left-right channel separation, even when listening closely and in front of it. This affects the sense of where the sounds are coming from (imaging), and the soundstage seems a bit restricted. In reality, this is not a big deal unless you are listening critically, and that is not what this device is intended for.
I tried it with movies, and it was definitely an upgrade from the TV’s speakers. But again, the channel separation needs to be more accurate. Having only one speaker, I can’t help but to wish for a second one for that true stereo experience.
The ERA 100 is fully compatible with the Alexa voice assistant. It recognized and responded accurately to every command without significant hiccups -even at decent distances. I do wish it had a specific light as other compatible speakers when there is a pending notification, but that’s a minor nitpick.
The icing on the cake is the SONOS’ Radio, which comes included in the app. While there are some commercials, they are not overly intrusive or distracting. There are several stations and curated playlists that are well put together for different genres. There is a subscription that upgrades sound fidelity and adds options, but it is not necessary. Just in case, the speaker is compatible with all other major music platforms.
In the end, I am very pleased with the ERA 100 and my introduction to the SONOS ecosystem. It is certainly worth the value in my opinion.

Instant turn off. Doesn’t support google assistant. Connecting to an already complete surround system is NOT an option. Especially if you wanted to use it’s brand new volume slider as a control compared to the over simplistic older versions when you don’t have your phone around or if others want to control it.
Hi, and thank you very much for your review! Unfortunately, Google decided to take a different philosophy when their voice assistant is being used with speakers that aren't theirs. This philosophy doesn't align with our own. We are incredibly excited to offer Amazon Alexa, and Sonos Voice Control on Era 100 and Era 300. Along with additional privacy options and a mechanical on/off switch, we know customers will enjoy the additional functionality and privacy that our Era products offer! As far as your concerns with adding them to existing home theater surround sounds systems. You can do this however, you would need two of them. Era 100 is an entirely new, and upgraded acoustic architecture than it's predecessor Sonos One. So pairing it with a Sonos One (for example) would not sound ideal. As mentioned, you can use x2 Era 100 as rears if you'd like. - Thank you so much for trying out Era 100, and we're sorry it didn't fulfill your expectations. We know you'll love it as a standalone speaker, or as surround sounds if you give them a shot. Thanks again!

-sound is unimpressive vs the cost
-setup process is HORRIBLE and is definitely not “plug and play”.
-speakers drop Bluetooth daily if one of any processes is not specifically followed
-ditto if one of several remote control (new Samsung TV) buttons is pressed
-currently randomly disconnected, cannot reconnect
-planning to return
-ADVICE: do not purchase unless you have the “free” anytime service scheduling (Pro account) for frequent technician visits OR unless you are satisfied taking 30-60min daily to fix things

Just WOW!! I have a few speakers from a couple of different manufacturers around the house and this is my first Sonos speaker. The other speakers are going to for sale by the end of the week.
The Sonos Era 100 is one of the best sounding speakers in that size range I have heard in a while. I can't compare it to any other speaker they make but I can see why folks who own them think the world of them.
I'll start with the negatives which there aren't many.
The USB-C adapter for the line-in, has to be the one from Sonos. You cannot use one from anyone else that you might have bought from your local store or online when you purchased the Era 100 thinking you could connect your turntable or other device to it using the line-in.
It doesn't have Google assistant compatibility, which hopefully you probably already know if you did some research. That's it for the negative for me now on to the good stuff.
This little speaker is deceptively heavy which is a good thing. I have never trusted a light speaker. They tend to not sound good. The Era 100 is excellent without touching the EQ in the application.
It was easy to setup which I am very thankful for. If you don't own a Sonos speaker you will have to create a account and the register the speaker to get it started (Bluetooth won't work until you get it setup and running with your Sonos account).
The sound it produces is incredible. My expectations were not high so I was pleasantly surprised. I love this speaker!!!!! I will be buying more Sonos products if they are anywhere near as close to the quality of the Era 100.
Your ears will be very happy and maybe a bit mad you took so long to feed them such a good fidelity.
Definitely recommend buying at least one of these, just remember to buy the adapter from Sonos as well.

The Sonos Era 100 absolutely exceeded my expectations. For its compact size, the sound is incredibly rich, with crisp highs, detailed mids, and surprisingly deep bass. It easily fills a room and feels way bigger than it looks. Setup was simple and quick, and the app integration makes it super convenient to control music, adjust EQ, and pair with other Sonos speakers.
I especially love how versatile it is—great as a standalone speaker, but it really shines when paired in stereo or as part of a larger Sonos system. Build quality feels premium, and the sleek design blends seamlessly into any space.
If you’re looking for high-quality sound, reliable wireless connectivity, and something that just works effortlessly every time, the Era 100 is a perfect choice. Highly recommend!
