Customers are saying

Customers highly value the One SL Wireless Smart Speaker's exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and relatively small size, frequently praising its seamless setup and strong bass response. While some find the price point to be high, many appreciate the lack of a microphone for privacy reasons. The speaker's compatibility with other devices and its sleek design are also frequently cited as positive aspects.

    Little speakers fill the room.

Listening in the store the speaker seemed thin. Once I got it home I was surprised how full the sound was especially the low end. I use it in the primary bedroom enjoyed it for a week then bought a second for true stereo. I turn on the loudness and +2 the bass. Solid little speakers.

I think it is totally sleazy that you buy this speaker then to set it up they shake you down for a monthly fee to use it! I’m returning this speaker. I don’t want to pay to use a piece of hardware. I will. Never buy another Sonos speaker

Hi, and thank you for trying out the Sonos One SL. We're very sorry for the misunderstanding, but there is no fee for using our products? You may have received a notice that we offer Sonos Radio HD for a monthly fee. However, that is not required to use our products, and we offer a free version of Sonos Radio that comes as a service on our app when it's downloaded. No membership or payment required. john.milton

Absolutely horrible, not worth the $$$. Spend 5-10 minutes every night trying to wake Sonos system up to play sleeping music on Spotify, which only causes frustration that prevents falling asleep. Sonos doesn’t support Bluetooth either, which is a huge fail. Will be returning.

I was a little concerned that the usefulness of this speaker might be diminished without Alexa, but as long as you understand what you're buying it for, then this speaker will serve you well. I'm using it along with a Sonos Beam soundbar to fill my downstairs with sound. It works awesome. The sound is great. I have a very small downstairs, just family room and kitchen. The One SL is in the kitchen and the Beam hooked up to the TV. While playing music, there's nowhere that you cannot hear it with the two of them grouped. It's also nice that when my kids are watching TV, that I can hear what they're watching and can be doing something in the kitchen and not have to monitor them in the same room. My kids are young, so I'm still very careful about what they watch. I have one complaint, but this is the nature of Sonos speakers, so buyer beware. To group with my Beam, I must do it manually every time. I hope that in the future that Sonos will change this and allow a permanent grouping/pairing. Currently, you can only group speakers of the same series. I would love to get one or two more of these speakers and use them to create surround sound for the TV. But not without permanent pairing capability. But you should also know that the grouping from the app is simple and instant when you tap. Even with that one complaint, I would recommend this speaker. It's like all other Sonos that I’ve heard. Well made, high quality sound, and the set up was easy in the app.

This speaker makes wonderful, glorious sound! However, you need to understand what you are getting when you invest in this type of Sonos system. The recently updated Sonos One SL is a wireless speaker in that it receives audio input via a WiFi network, but it does need to be plugged into an AC outlet for power. (This is not a “portable” speaker with an internal battery.) The main selling feature of Sonos is that although the speakers can certainly be used singly to fill a room with sound, multiple speakers can be set up on the same network to provide continuous music throughout the entire house. This is a brilliant and much less expensive alternative to fitting each room with wires! The Sonos One SL itself is a sturdy, hefty device made entirely of metal. It feels sleek and well-made. I particularly appreciate the capacitive controls on the top of the unit, that provide options for volume, pause/play, forward/back. Swiping and tapping these controls is like using the touch pad of a laptop. The speaker needs a WiFi connection, and the sound source is controlled though the Sonos App, that is available for PC, Mac, Android and IOS. I found the setup straightforward, but I can see how some people might feel it is a bit tricky. Once the WiFi connection is made and the App is loaded in your device, music can be played from various sources, including: - iTunes and Apple Play - Any of about 100 streaming services, including Spotify and Pandora - Any of multiple radio stations with on-line presence - Mp3 files resident on your device, which must be accessed and organized by the Sonos App Note that there is no option for a Bluetooth connection with this device. Also, some of the streaming services that connect to Sonos require additional monthly upgrade fees (e.g. in order to play Spotify you have to pay for “Spotify Premium”). I have about 100 gigabytes of music stored on OneDrive, and I was able to connect this to the Sonos App with only minor difficulty. However, I was not able to import my playlists that were made with Groove. I have not found a way to “search” my music files on the Sonos App, and so I have to scroll through the entire list to get to the music I want to play. Recreating all the playlists I use is possible, but annoying. There is an option for setting up voice control with Google Assistant or Alexa. My wife does not want to have a network device that listens to all our conversation all the time, so I have not tried this feature. I have an Android phone; all this functionality may be easier with an iPhone. In short: Pros: Premium construction, excellent sound quality, flexibility to create a multiple-speaker sound system without wires throughout the house Cons: No Bluetooth, accessing your music through the Sonos app may be cumbersome, many streaming options require additional upgrade purchases

    Best Speaker I've Ever Purchased

I purchased two of these speakers along with the sonos beam and couldn't be happier. The speaker is so clear and loud for its small size. The setup was straight forward all you need is the app. The only thing that I can see that will deter people away will be the price point, but the speaker is well worth it.

The Sonos -one XL is listed as a smart speaker and it is smart, but not in the way many may think. This is not a speaker you can talk directly to, there are other speakers from Sonos that have that capability. This speaker does connect to your smart phone or tablet and is controlled by the Sonos app. I also connected this speaker through my Alexa and can control it by voice that way, which seems to work really well so far. Sound from this small speaker is surprisingly good. I would love to have a second speaker to set up as a stereo pair, but I don't. Anyway, I don't think you would be disappointed with the sound from the Sonos One XL. Build quality seems really good, setup is easy, just download the Sonos app and follow the instructions that come with the speaker and you are ready to go. I don't have any hesitation about recommending this speaker, just remember that this is not the one that you talk to, but with an alexa device, it can work about the same as a standalone smart speaker. Good product!
