Bass is OK, but most products on the market create bass just as good if not better. Default has bass set very low and you have to go through 20 different links in the Sonos App to adjust it.

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a great speaker - I actually own a bunch of Sonos speakers (3x Play 5's, 2x Play One, 1 PlayBar, 1 Sub, 1 Connect) - I was a very loyal customer until Sonos surprised their customer base today with an announcement that Play 5's (and some other product) will no longer receive software updates. Basically my entire Sonos system will slowly become obsolete since I can no longer receive their software updates. Please keep this in mind when you buy Sonos products - the speakers I have are all less then 6 years old and I am now forced to spend 1000$+ to keep my system up-to-date.

Posted .Thank you for the feedback and for being a loyal Sonos customer! On January 21st we did announce end of software updates for the oldest Sonos players (those manufactured in 2015 and earlier) that people have in their homes. Based on the inventory and time frame you gave above, it appears that only one of those products (the Connect) could be impacted by this change as Connects manufactured after 2015 are not impacted. You can double check if your system is impacted by logging into your Sonos account at sonos.com and selecting My Account > System Check. It is also important to note that impacted players will continue to function as they currently do past the End of Software Updates event in May. The functionality of your system will initially not be impacted. This announcement states that over time the functionality of the system may change as our partners, particularly our music and voice service partners, evolve their experience over time and we wanted to give our owners as much notice as possible that their experience may change beyond May. Thanks again for being a Sonos customer and hopefully this clears up some questions you may have had. Posted .We understand having to balance the value of adding bass to your room or adding more music throughout your home. The Sub is designed to not only add bass, but to do so while having zero vibration and allowing its connected speaker to stop producing low frequencies and focus on mids and highs. This is especially important when looking for a movie theater type experience where you want the room filled with sound!

But, you have no independent control over this speaker because it is "paired" with the sound bar or other speaker of your choice. If you can't adjust it independently, it's not my idea of a sub.

Don't waste your time
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to connect to Sonos Beam for over two hours. Only way it would connect was when Ethernet cable was connected. Was told to hook up Ethernet to help sync issue in Sonos app. When I disconnected Ethernet cable it would not work in wireless mode. Sounded great when it was connected but for this price it should work wirelessly and like any other Sonos speaker. Returned to store, wasn't willing to spend more money for another component to make this work.
