Very well made film! Gives the viewer a real perspective of what the colonial people and founding fathers had to go through and gives you a real sense of American Pride!!!!

So much more entertaining than documentary

I really enjoyed this series, and that is coming from someone who was not a huge fan of docudramas, until this one. I found myself drawn into the "characters" from history and looking forward to each episode to find out what would happen to Paul Revere and John Adams, etc. Of course history already knows what happens, but you have the feeling when you are watching that the outcome is still unknown, because you are more emotionally involved. (Also this went way beyond my basic high school knowledge of the Am Rev). The acting was very good overall. Ok so the actual battle scenes went on a little long for the female audience, but even then, because I "knew" the characters, I had more interest even in the battles. Because I loved this one so much, it made me want to learn more about the American Revolution, so I got a full documentary on it. Mistake, way too dry, find myself falling asleep, too much like school. Can't speak to the complete historical accuracy of this one, will leave that to others who know more, but for drama and interest this is much better than a documentary.

I said it before and i will say it again. If they only taught history like this in school, maybe more kids would have grown a love for history. The actors are great! The portrayal of the authority the British soldiers were allowed to display and have in the colonies is beyond anything I could have pictured on my own. Yeah you read in the history class about certain "questionable" laws the British empire made in the colonies, but to see those laws being used and how it effected the colonists daily lives in this blu ray...again is unimaginable.! Loved every minute of it!! I recommend also watching The Men Who Built America, and The World Wars...same producers and for me it has been the same happy result!

The original Boston Patriots, and their story of the beginnings of the American Revolution. The sons of liberty, provides a look into what happened in Boston, Massachusetts; and led to many other important dates, events, and the patriotic men involved. I enjoyed watching this series, and felt that it captured the spirit of those times and the the men too! Anyone who likes watching short historical series, will enjoy this rendition. I enjoyed the actors and would watch it again.

I rarely see any movies made today where Paul Revere is center of the movie. So it provided a closer look into the history of his role during this era. I loved the patriotic theme of separation from the British to independence of the States. With all that is going on in our Country, this movie sheds more light on the great sacrifice that was made for our independence & Constitution. I know I'm a patriot at heart, so I loved the movie!

    Good show, Story inaccurate

I really enjoyed the show and found the characters believable. The problem with this series was that it was not a part of the history it depicted. I can go into details about all the inaccuracies but it would be too many to mention and I am sure I'd miss a few, but what I can say is this show was entertaining for sure and it would have made history more fun if it was completely true. This was not a pretty war and many perished in this. There was blood spilled from both sides and though we did win our independence from Britain, it would be a long time before we have our constitution written and the states ratified into the greatness we would become. So the bottom line in this review if you watch this keep in mind that this is not how the United States started out and the characters were not what they really were in real life. Not really suitable for children. Some suggested adult themes throughout the episodes. I don't think it will return. There is so much more in this story that has yet to be told, but I believe that there were so many inaccuracies to the truth that it would be decided not to continue this series. Had I known this before I would have not purchased this. But did enjoy it enough to give it 3 stars; if it was true would have been given 5 stars. TURN is better.

I'm a fan of dramas, docudramas and history. I really liked this series. The only thing is I wish it did not end so abruptly. In terms of action, intrigue, acting and over all entertainment... A+. It didn't bother me that it wasn't 100% accurate, but enough to get the gist of what the American Revolution was about...especially with Adams; (Ben Barnes) speech about independence.

As the old historical documentaries started to become stale and overdone, the History Channel changed tactics and started making docu-dramas. "The Men Who Built America" and "World Wars" were great programs, and they continue great offerings, now with "Sons of Liberty," about key players in the American Revolution. Another triumph, and a great program for history buffs.

If your a true fan of history ... this may not be the disc for you... However I purchased this with the intent to show to my American History class (who dig things like the Assassins Creed games). They enjoyed it and learned more about the American Revolution than if I just lectured from a textbook

This was a good and brief series based around the men of the Declaration of Independence. Now this was not an accurate or factual series, but it was entertaining. It Introduced people I had never heard of and caused me to dig a little deeper into this historic event.

I've read other reviews saying historical facts were stretched to make this a more entertaining special that would appeal to target demographics. It worked. I enjoyed watching it and even if some of the facts were stretched, I feel like I'm a bit more knowledgeable about Revolutionary times.

I found this DVD on Black Friday and picked it because I had watched it on the History Channel when it first premiered. It may not be factually correct, but it is a good story about the history of the United States. I have watched this mini series several times and enjoyed it each time.

Great job of the director to catch the interest of people to see the founding of our country blending modern day characteristics of folks into the people of that time. Of course, God was scrubbed out of it as He is almost every where in our lives today. Wish that wasn't so.

Mostly accurate historical piece about the American Revolution. Having lived in Boston for many years, a lot of this was familiar. But watching it from this director's point of view was still enlightening. Be sure to watch the "extras" section with behind the scenes stories.

I bought Sons of Liberty because first off it was cheaply priced, and secondly I was watching it when it was on television but fell asleep not because of the show I was just too tired. The show was interesting from what I have seen I haven't finished the series.
