Absolutely amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these to use while studying to drown out background noise in my apartment. It does an amazing job at that! My favorite part is the ear cupping feature that allows you to turn down the music and hear someone talking to you. When I have these on and jamming I can cup them to quickly hear a knock on the door or my kids. They work amazingly and I would highly recommend them to everyone.

I would have gave it 5 stars but read below
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great noise cancelling. Comfortable but not the best around. Controls a little weird but definatwly love the functions. Specially not having to take me headphones off to talk to someone. The only flaw and the reason for 4 stars it's there is a clacking noise when u put them on and move ur head around. However once u have your music or movie u can't tell it happens and forget all about it. However if u just wanted the noise cancelling to like sleep, won't happen

Has some quality issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you haven't purchased it yet, by the new model it fixes some known problems. Problem 1) is the head band breaks. Its a common issue and breaks about where it folds. Issue has been widespread enough, that sony has decided to cover it under the warranty. Problem 2) known to have power quality with voice. Most of us listens on the phone, and use it as our headset. It is known to have problems, my second pair ( headband broke) starts acting up after 15 minutes on a phone and gets to the point where it is unusable.

Great noise cancellation. Sound Quality...bleh
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're into paying premium price for disappointing performance. You can add these in with QC 35s / Sennheiser MOMENTUMs. Noise cancellation - Sony wins hands down. FYI Just use NC Digital or NC Digital + Optimizer settings for noise cancellation. The voice/ambient option is not needed. Covering right ear piece turns off NC , allowing user to hear surrounding environment. Sound - I initially synced the Sony's with a Samsung edge. Using spotify to test various genres. The performance was terrible. Dull highs, mids and bass. I repeated the same with a S2 tab. iPad mini and iPhone 6.....I hate to say it but the Sony's were best with iPhone. Hearing improved sound quality using the iPhone.... I did a little more research and found the Sony 1000x's use "Hi Res" or Sony's LDAC. What uses LDAC? Hi Res walkmans / Sony compatible phones IE Xperia™ X "Unlike other Bluetooth compatible coding technologies such as SBC, it operates without any down-conversion of the Hi-Res Audio content*1, and allows approximately three times more data*2 than those other technologies to be transmitted over a Bluetooth wireless network with unprecedented sound quality, by means of efficient coding and optimized packetization."

Decent noise cancelling
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They are decent noise cancelling headphones when I have two different noise machines going and with or without music going on at the same time with the sound level just below or at half way. This is just my opinion, but, I don't think they are any better than Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones. I just bought these under 5 months ago and the left side of the band cracked by the ear piece. I don't mishandle, misuse, and I was never rough with these. Always went back in the carrying case as well. I use these primarily for work to cut out annoying background noise. Best Buy's customer service department is awful and even Sony is telling me they may or may not charge me for it. As far as I am concerned I will never buy another Sony product if they provide such garbage quality at the price they charge. I told myself to get the Bose but I researched these for awhile before buying thinking they were going to be superior as a lot of people said they are better than the new Bose. I like the different features it has such as being able to change songs just by swiping left or right on the headphones or covering the right side and being able to hear someone talking to you. The headphones are kind of flimsy that's probably why they cracked and in my opinion not worth the $400 price tag. My next pair of headphones will be Bose. The fact that they cracked under 5 months with no real wear or tear on them is not cool at all. I am not telling anyone not to try these because you may love them but I would really do some research before investing in them.

Great headset cracking issue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: This headset has better sound and better noise cancelling than any other headset I have tried. The ability to keep nc on and bring in ambient sound is a definite plus. I work at a very loud office with white noise pumped in all around me. The headset without music removes all the noise including the white noise. Cons: One major issue that will make me return the headset, is after two days of use the left ear is picking up the plastic joints moving. This makes a cracking noise. It only happens when I turn my head to the left or right. Very frustrating sound and at this level of headset, it should not have this issue. I hate to have to return these, but I bought them for the noise cancelling.

4 Months Later
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these headphones for my daily commute and for travel. The noise cancellation is much better than expected, as in better than my Bose QC35's. The NC does a great job at not only wiping out jet engine and subway sounds, but also chatter from people around me. With music playing on even a low volume, I can't hear anything from the world around me. The sound is FANTASTIC. Deep bass, smooth mids, and evenly-leveled highs. I can't stress enough that the $50 above the price of the QC35's is completely worth it. You can't go wrong with the 1000X.

Good Phones - Noise Cancelling Could Be Improved
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good set of headphones. Lots of features that you can't find on other headphones. Some things that I wish were better... Using Noise Cancelling on a plane, the noise of the engines get replaced with a wave sound (like you get at the beach) that's constant. You won't hear it as much when playing music at a higher volume. But it is very noticeable all the time. If you want the headphones to be perfectly quite, go with Bose. Wish it had more bass. Sony has a model that has more bass. But you have to decide if you want the features of these headphones or the bass of the other model. The buttons to turn on the headphones and some of the other features are very small and sometimes hard to use and find with your hands in the dark. I use the app on my Android phone. Not sure it does very much to improve/optimize the sound quality/noise cancellation when using the headphones.

Amazing pair of headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was debating between these headphones, beats studio 3 and the bose qc35. Ultimately went for the sony mdr 1000x and honestly one of the best headphones I have ever used.

Best NC headphones I've heard.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These sound fantastic and the active noise cancelling is as good as the Bose. I usually use wired headphones but these will definitely be my travel headphones going forward.

Amazing Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never really been much of a audio junkie that was until I got these headphones. Sony did an awesome job with both build and quality. My mom and uncle grew up listening to vinyls they both tried these headphones on and said it brought them back. I personally have never been good at heating the words artists say because of the beat. These produce a perfect balance where I was able to hear everything just like the producer intended. One feature that most people don't know is you can use your phones voice commands (Okay Google and Siri). To use that you just tap and hold the right ear cup with one finger.

These are the bee's knees
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are wonderful! Here's the thing though: make sure you charge them FIRST before use. I almost freaked out because I thought they were DOA. Setup is easy, just boop connected with NFC and bluetooth. Here's the problem - the mic. When in a phone call, like FB messenger and Google Hangouts, it's using the dual mic. If you're in a quiet place the person you're talking to can hear you. Get to a more public place and you make have to talk louder than usual. But just using these for audio, A+. Just gets a star off because of the mic placement and quality.

Great noise cancelation, not a fan of touch button
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great headphones overall. Happy to see that Sony was coming out with an alternative to the great Bose QC35 headphones. Really enjoyed using them as they are very lightweight but feel very high quality. The ear pads are especially comfortable. One thing that I could not get over was the touch gestures that are used to raise/lower volume and skip/replay a song. I would much rather have physical buttons. Not a big deal but for me it was a deal breaker.

Good headphones if on discount
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones had better sound quality than the Bose QC35 and was enjoyable. But beware some of the units have a problem with the band breaking out; otherwise this is a solid headphone when it sells around $200. It is priced higher than the WH1000XM2 which is the newer model. Would buy it if on sale.

Plastic is cheap and cracks easily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plastic is cheap and cracks easily I used these for travel and daily wear and loved them until 2 months in the plastic developed a hairline crack along the foldable joints on the inside of the headband on each side and this is not covered by warranty. Do not waste your money. This is a known issue and Sony hasnt dont anything to replace the cheaply made product.
