Forget Beats. Personally, these are one of the greatest headphones I’ve ever listened to. The sound is absolutely delicious (and comes with an equalizalizer app to adjust to personal preference), with rich highs with punchy bass. The cans give my ears plenty of room, and the artificial leather makes it comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The noise cancellation is definitely on point, and blocks out most low frequency sound when traveling in buses or sitting next to air conditioners. Definitely would prefer these over the Bose QC35 II’s, because they don’t sacrifice comfort over sound.

After reading a ton of reviews on different headphones, and trying almost as many in stores, I decided on the Sony. The noise canceling and clarity is by far more than I had hoped for. The batter life is unsurpassed by far. I use them 6 to 10 hours every evening. No regrets.

I’ve been a Sonyholic right from when I was a kid. I’ve owned many Sony Headphones and this is by far the best that I've owned. The design, noise cancelling, comfort and the quality is simply mind-blowing. I tested both the qc35 and this side by side just out of curiosity and this just eased out so comfortably.
I enjoy the hires audio content and the quality. Hope more come the way.
-Noise cancellations for commutes/long distance travel
-Clear quality whilst streaming films/music
-Battery life
My expectations have been totally surpassed, a fantastic product. Buy them!

This is the second pair of active noise cancelling headphones I have owned. My first pair are on ear wired Sony headphones that are over 20 yrs old and still going strong. They were @ $100-$150 so even then not a "Premium" set. I like them and they are still going strong. But I had a bunch of BB rewards burning a hole in my digital pocket and I wanted to splurge. After reading a boatload of reviews between these and the closest competitor Bose, I decided to run to a BB and compare. I really liked both sets. As the reviews stated, the Bose are ultra comfortable, which is not to say the Sony's aren't. I thought the slanted nature of the drivers within the earpieces of the Bose were genius. The Sony's are very comfortable also, very soft ear surrounds. I have glasses and am able to wear them for hours without any ear fatigue or heat, granted I am not running or exercising while wearing these. The Sound of both sets blew me away (again, coming from 20+ year old on ear pair) For MY ears, I liked the noise cancelling a hair better in the Sony's. Sony also has a few bell's n whistle's that the Bose did not have. I esp like the touch controls with the Vol., F/R/P and that I can cup my hand over the right ear to mute the audio if someone wants to talk to me. No more having to take them off to have a quick conversation. The one thing the Bose set has that these don't is you can pair them to 2 devices at once. That would be slick if I am watching a movie on my tablet, I could also have it paired to my phone in case I get a call, but that is what vibrate is for. Speaking of watching movies, I read that some people complained about audio sync delay issues. I have watch various videos and movies on different devices and NEVER had a delay, picture and audio have been perfectly synced. Maybe the firmware update I did, fixed that issue. The APP you can get for these is very easy and you can tweak things to make them even better. I bought the gold color cuz I felt they looked more refined than just the black and like a lighter color vehicle, I figured they would stay "cleaner" longer and not show wear as quickly. The final nudge was the fact that when I started looking into these and the Bose, the Sony was on sale for $50 less, I mean, who doesn't like to save a little cheddar. So that coupled with my $150 BB rewards, I got some SERIOUS value. Could not be happier!!
I am not gonna say you should get these over the Bose cuz something like this is so subjective and comes down to personal taste. All I can say, is these work for me and my ears. Very comfortable, fantastic sound, ridiculous noise cancelling and cool features.

So far, I've been entirely satisfied with these headphones. They're a little bit on the expensive side, especially when bought with the warranty, but the sound quality is great, and the bluetooth is sublime. The different sound cancellation features are very nice, allowing one to hear conversations and sounds around oneself without worrying. I really like the touch controls on the right cup, but they are a little sensitive at times. They are great for drumming along to music, as the external sound is muffled enough to hear articulations, while also saving one's ears.

These really reduce your fatigue on flughts as they block out so much noise. They are also smart so they allow sound in while you're walking so you can be aware. For me they were more comfortable than the QC35s that most would cross shop this against.

I originally wanted to have beats. Tried these and never looked back. Best decision I ever made. I travel ALOT and need noise cancelling for the plane and airport. Just can’t say enough and they are comfortable too with many great bells and whistles.

Bought them for a 22 hour flight. Batttery lasted, sound cancellation was effective, comfortable on my head for extended times, sound is incredible when plays music, also use Bluetooth for conference calls. Only downside (which isn’t all that bad) is that the mic is super sensitive so when on the phone every sound I make (typing/shuffling papers/running water...) is very audible to the person on the other end so I have to use mute function on phone if on a conference call but standby to turn it off in case I have to speak. Overall think their great.

After spending WAY TOO MUCH time reading reviews for all the current top headphones and testing out my buddy's new Beats Solo3 I decided to trust the online community and pick up the Sony's. I LOVE THEM. sound is perfect, app and pairing was just as easy as the apple-apple chip thingy. The hand gesture on the right earpiece that muffles music and lets dialogue in is SO convenient like when on a flight or at my desk to have a quick exchange without taking off headphones or stopping playback. My ONLY complaint is they dropped the ball a bit on the design of the carrying pouch. They come with charge cable, audio cable and the two prong plane adapter but only one thin mesh pocket on the OUTSIDE of the case, so on my last trip the cables kept falling out into my backpack etc... easily fixed if they would have made an interior pocket to organize cables. 9/10

The headphones sound great and the battery lasts pretty long, I bought these a week ago and they still have some juice in them from the first charge I did. The noise cancellation works very well, and being able to optimize it helps even more.

These headphones sound amazing. The app is pretty simple to use. They are pretty dang comfortable, much more comfortable than any beats I've used. The ambient noise feature is super useful, especially at work. I would buy these again.

I did a lot of research and testing of these cans before purchasing. I was also considering the Bose QC35II, B&W PX, and Beats Studio3 wireless. All are great in their own way. But let me tell you that in all categories Sony WH-1000MX was best overall in terms of sound and noise canceling. I know that each listener has a different taste when it comes to sound quality, but the Sony nails it on bass (not the most, but there’s plenty), midrange (voices and instruments come out very clearly) and highs were spot on (not overwhelming). I’m coming from the Beats Studio2 and was highly considering the Studio3 since they are very compatible with the iPhone and updated, but the sound quality just wasn’t there for me. So I highly recommend the Sony. Test it first of course. You won’t be disappointed!

Feels very comfortable, sounds fantastic, and the touch controls work very well. The noise cancelling works like a charm, and the battery life is awesome. The Sony Headphone app it uses isn't the greatest, but you don't have to use it and for me personally I'm not missing out on much by doing so. Made the switch from buds to headphones and I'm very happy.

This is one of the best models of headphones I've ever used in my life. They sound amazing, they block outside sounds extremely well, and they feel amazing to wear. Buuut, they also have a pricetag to reflect that quality.

These sound amazing! There is such a subtle difference in sound quality between any of the higher end headphones, that you need to figure out what features are the most important to you, and go from there. For me, it's comfort. I have to be able to wear them for hours, and feel no discomfort. These are the first headphones that I've owned that are like that. The noise cancelling is industry leading, and the battery life is dope!

I demoed these against the Bose QC35 and I will say the Sonys are the better buy.
Pros: Great sound, build quality, feature list, battery lasts(30-38 hrs)
Cons: Touch controls will take some practice to get use to

I wasn't sure whether to get these or the Bose QC2, but after trying both pairs in store, the Sony pair really fit the bill. I liked that I could fine-tune the noise cancellation level. The Bose headphones were probably the most comfortable but for some reason, the noise canceling constantly made me feel like I was getting a headache (and the ear popping feel that others describe).
What about the sound quality? These are really, really crisp and have great bass out of the box. If you want, there is an application that you can download (and should) to your phone to take full advantage of the noise canceling tuning as well as the equalizer. I also have some nicer external speakers at home (e.g., Apple HomePod) and I find these to be on-par with that quality (probably a little more crisp with the Sony headphones and a little less bass-heavy)...fantastic sound quality overall.
I would have loved to have purchased a more cost-effective pair of headphones overall, but as a wearer of glasses, there aren't many options (that I found) which are as comfortable as these. Both the Bose and these were the best for glasses wearers in my opinion.
Finally, I have a small-to-medium sized head and I wish these were slightly smaller (like the size of the Bose), but I understand the extra features more than likely add to some of the size increase. I have worn these on 8 flights now and one of the coolest features is where you can cup your hand over the right earphone and it will turn on the external speakers and pause your music for announcements from the pilot (without having to remove your headphones). Also, you can easily turn up/down the volume or advance/reverse tracks by swiping your finger on the outside of the right headphone.
Would I buy them again? YES!! Love them and have worn them for many hours without any ear fatigue.

This is my first over the ear headphones. But I have tried other headsets before. I bought this headphones primarily for noise cancelling as I will be studying and travelling a lot. I am impressed with the noise cancelling feature of this headset. The sound quality is not the best but I don't listen to loud music anyway. So it's fine. And it doesn't hurt my ears even after hours and hours of using it straight. And it stays put during my running and workouts. Love it!!
