Don’t buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headband broke in less than a year. Contacted Sony support for them to tell me they won’t cover it. Should’ve read the reviews but I figure that won’t be me. After a little back and forth with Sony they offered a minuscule discount on a new pair. If it wasn’t for the break the headphones would get a great review. Or if you intend to purchase these, I would recommend getting the protection plan through Best Buy seeing that Sony doesn’t care if there is a defect in their manufacturing process.

My new favorite NC Wireless headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has really out done themselves the the new WH-1000XM2. These are my favorite Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones on the market. Weather listening to music or watching a video, the Noise Cancellation is superb. No annoying ambient noise to distract you. The Bluetooth connection is great as well. I didn't have any problems connecting to my phone nor unpairing and reconnecting to another device. There are several functions that can be performed by with just a quick swipe of a finger on the touch pad on outside of the right ear cup. I have to admit, it took me a couple of minutes to get use it. But now, I can adjust volume, skip, answer calls, and switch to listening to ambient sounds very quickly without taking off the headset. The battery life is excellent. They say up to 30 hours with continuos, wireless music playback. I really haven't tested that out yet but who listens to music 30 hours straight? There is a voice assistant that tells you whats going on when you disconnect or power off. Not just a beep. Which I thought is useful. There is an app you can download that helps you manage your headset. You can adjust your "Smart Listening". Basically, it automatically detects your activity in your current environment and balances the noise cancelling levels accordingly (which you can customize). And you can check your battery level with this app. The headset feels and looks nice. They are comfortable while sitting on my head. The sound is comparable to the Bose QC35 if not better in my opinion. Give this headset a try when you're looking for a Wireless Noise Cancelling pair.

The Best Headphones, But BETTER
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I will break up this review into two parts. One for those who are looking for a set of premium headphones. For those people these headphones are absolutely amazing. They are amazing even without the Sony app for your smartphone that makes them even better. The NFC or Bluetooth pairing process is incredible simple and the fact that the instruction manual is so simple that it has pictures instead of words lends to just how simple it is to pair them. The noise cancelling is top notch and is among the best headphones that I've ever had. The ambient sound mode also makes it easy to have conversations while listening to music although it doesn't take away the feeling that you're being rude by having conversations with headphones on, but it's definitely great if you're in public and you want to listen to music. The sound accuracy is top notch and rather you want to listen to stuff with deeper bass or the like the app makes it easy to adjust the EQ such that you can get a desired sound. If you listen to them on something that doesn't support the app however it still sounds really good just not as good. The app makes a world of a difference, and is really what separates it out from the older model which is what I compare it to. It is absolutely worth the price difference and the upgrade if you're coming from those. Battery stamina is superb, and charge time is right with it. Minor gripes with that you can't take advantage of the app outside of Android or iOS, and that it doesn't support USB-C so it charges over Micro-USB. Overall they are still an amazing set of headphones that I can recommend to anyone.

Superb Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked these up for my father-in-law. He loves his current noise-canceling headphones but after trying them myself, I've heard better. He put these on and immediately stated they were so much better before even doing anything with the downloadable app. Fits securely over the ear to block out ambient sound (mother-in-law... :). Classical music sounds awesome and can handle all the bass you can throw at it. Connects wireless easily (Bluetooth 4.1 / NFC) or usable wired. Battery-life is around 30 hours of usage. Making phone calls through microphone on headphones yields excellent sound quality without that tunnel-sounding with some headsets. While you don't need to use the associated app, it does allow you to configure several options mostly related to handling the surroundings. Have not had the chance yet to test how it handles the pressure differentiation while flying. Supposedly monitors pressure to adjust sound accordingly. These are a great sounding set of headphones that should last a long time and keep my father-in-law extremely happy. Out goes that old set that he was so impressed with.

As good as Bose QC 35 II, pick your preference
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've compared these to my 2nd generation Bose QC 35's and found that it is an excellent noise cancelling headphone. It's just up to you to choose which features are more important to you. The app that goes along with these headphones is very granular, meaning you can tweak multiple settings to get just the right sound for you. In fact, the app is so customizable that one may get intimidated by it. But, that is not a problem b/c I found that without changing any presets within the app, the headphones sounded great. The power user, however, will appreciate the features that you can change from within the app. I think the star feature of these headphones is the ability to cup your hand over the right side to decrease volume and noise cancelling so that you can hear someone who is trying to talk to you without having to pause your audio or remove the headphones. I haven't seen this kind of feature in Bose or any other headphones for that matter. I'm not sure, however, that I like the way one changes volume or tracks which is by swiping up/down or front/back on the same right ear cup. It's too easy to skip a track when you were trying to adjust the volume. One other thing - I wish that the power on/off switch was similar to the Bose, meaning an easy to feel for toggle switch on the outer surface of the earcup. Instead, the Sony requires you to feel for an embedded button, distinguish it from the ambient noise button and then push and hold it down. However, this is a minor quibble. In summary, I suggest you go to Best Buy, try these on, try the Bose on and figure out which one feels more comfortable for you.

Top Notch!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the pleasure to own or use high quality headphones from virtually every high-end manufacturer out there. Sony's newest offering does not disappoint and deserves the attention of all audiophiles. With Sony, you can always count on great sound quality, so I will spend more time talking about the features. To me, the biggest innovations with this generation are the touch/swipe controls and "Quick Attention". I have always had trouble remembering where buttons are located and which button does what on various devices. Now, all I have to do is swipe up and down or left and right to change tracks or volume. This was much easier for me to remember and worked as expected. The Quick Attention feature allows for you to quickly and easily lower the volume and "port" in ambient sound through the built in mic so that you can hear important things around you. There is no need to pause what you are listening to or take the headphones off. This was my favorite feature. The included soft shell case does the job of protecting your investment. The headphones fit nice and snug and will not take up much space in your backpack / carry-on. I found the noise canceling to be up to par, and Sony takes it a step further by allowing for customization within their app. To me, you cannot find a better set of headphones on the market at this price point.

Shoddy
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased these headphones back towards the end of 2018. Here we are in April 19th, of 2020 and they've been my daily drivers for work and production. The noise cancelling helped me get so much done and focus amazingly. A few days ago they started to not accept the Aux cable that was included within the packaging. Overall, they're condition is brand new, but I'm no longer able to turn them on to listen to music, and they randomly turn off even with the aux cable in them. Pretty sub-par if I had to give an opinion. I would have expected the bluetooth to stop working, not the auxiliary jack that I actually use everyday. I definitely will not be purchasing this brand again.

Awesome Audio with Noise Canceling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel extensively for work and never leave home without some quality noise canceling headphones. These headphones do not disappoint at the office or at 35,000 feet. The audio quality is what you would expect from Sony and the noise cancelation was very good. If you like incredible depth to your music you will not be disappointed. These headphones also support Sony High-Res audio which means these headphones have been designed to work well with lossless audio formats such as FLAC and AAC. Charging the headphones is very fast, great for when you're traveling and realize you should have charged them before leaving for the airport. The headphones are charged using a micro-USB cable (supplied) and Sony claims a 10 minute charge will give you 70 minutes of use. Overall, if you're looking for good quality noise canceling headphones these should definitely be on your radar!

The best pair of headphones I've ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are the best pair of headphone I've ever owned. The noise cancelling is amazing. You can be in a crowded Walmart and not hear anything. You don't even have to blast the music to not hear the outside world. The material feels very high quality. The hinges on the headphones are smooth and the padding is very soft and comfortable for long use. The metal bar and size adjuster are very solid but do not make the headphones too heavy. The swipe motion to change songs and volume is very fluid and works flawlessly. My only tiny complaint is that there is not a space inside the headphone case for the charging cable and cable adapter. There is a pouch on the back of the case but it's just a stretchy fabric so they could fall out easily. This is not a big deal as most people keep them in their backpack when travelling. The best pair of headphones I've ever owned!
