Not worth buying
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Sony!! I thought Sony would do magic with these headphones but I am disappointed by its sound quality. Also, it leaks sound a lot if you keep the volume > 50%. Not worth buying even with the Black Friday deal. I am returning this product.

Highly disspointing
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Noise cancellation doesn't work nearly as well on these as my h.ear sony headphones. Call quality is terrible, the person on the other end heads everything but you, and noise cancellation turns off when you're on the phone.

Headband Cracked
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My headband cracked after normal gentle use. Will get bose next time. Btw, Sony support wouldn’t replace the plastic band that cracks. Even though many others are experiencing the same quality control issue. I’m done with Sony audio for good. BUYER BEWARE.

Great sound and quality built headphones.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say, these headphones are officially my go-to headphones and have amazed me so far. Unboxing and Build Quality: A very attractive box and packaging holds the headphones and the hard shell case which is also very nice. First impressions of the headphones are that the build quality is top notch. The outside of the ear cups feels like it has a rubberized coating on them. The rubberized ear cups that surround the ear are buttery soft and match the feel of the piece that sits on the top of your head. They're easily adjustable for head size and fold flat to lay on your neck when not in use. These feel comfortable sitting on my head, even for long periods. No ear pain or sweat although I didn't exactly try to sweat with them on, they're too nice. Sound Quality: Another positive for these headphones. To fully unlock the full potential on these headphones you need to download the Headphones Connect app. There you can fine tune all the sounds to your specificity. There is an equalizer that allows you to precisely adjust the sound the way you want it to sound including several presets. There is something on these called clear bass in which you can hear extremely deep bass without distortion. Noise cancelling: The noise cancelling on these works great allowing you to select the environment you are in at the moment in order to cancel out more or less noise. There are several different features that I don't really understand or haven't figured out yet in the noise cancelling department. They're all a little different and can be accessed by pressing one of the two tactile buttons on the headphones, the other button is the power button. Controls: Another awesome feature on these headphones are the way they're controlled. You swipe up or down on the outside of the right ear piece for volume control and left and right to skip tracks forward or back. There's also a way to control siri and other voice activated services. One last super cool feature is that you can place your whole hand on the side of the right ear and it will basically turn down the volume on whatever your listening to and allow you to hear outside activities. So when your significant other is talking to you while you're wearing these, you don't have to remove the headphones you just place your hand on the side. While reading about all of this seems kind of gimmicky, it's actually not at all and works much better than other more expensive headphones that I've tried. You're not feeling around for buttons or having to learn where things are, you just swipe. Bluetooth connectivity is also super quick unlike some speakers and headsets that you have to play around with to get it to work. You've gotta try these out. They are the best headphones I've tried out at this price point. Try out the app and the controls and I guarantee you'll fall in love just like I did.

No words. Truly AMAZING!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will admit. When I saw the price of these headphones, I hesitated. I took a step back and did my research. In order to be fully transparent, I also considered the Bose QC 35 II. I looked around and decided my max budget was the mid $300's. Headphones are really important to me. I commute between two states to work and use the subway here in NYC. It can get loud and annoying, especially when all you want to do is sleep, read or do work on the train during your commute. I use to be an owner of a pair of Beats Studio's for two years now. I never liked the quality and the NC was mediocre at best. So it was time to get a new pair. I did my reading, watched as many youtube reviews, and even went in store to try each one. I didn't even know that Sony made this type of headphone; I thought they were only making headphones at a lower price point (and at a lower quality). I thought Bose was my only real "everyday" option. When I gave these a try, I was blown away! This headphone has everything I wanted. The NC is perfection! The app for your smartphone and tablet is an important key factor to the success of this headphone. In the app, it can tell if you are walking, running, in transit or sitting. With this, it adjusts the amount of outside noise you hear. It made me a little disoriented the first day because I wasn't use to it. But now, it is key to my experience. The app could be better. That is the only knock on it. It can crash and disconnect with the headphone, even though music is still playing through my headphone (For reference, I have an iPhone). The other custom aspects of the headphone in the app is great. From changing the direction of where the sound is coming from (it sounds almost like surround sound), changing the environment (you can make the sound more like a concert hall, club...etc.) and custom setting the sound to your taste, it just does a great job. The atmospheric pressure custom field in the app that adjusts the headphone is GREAT too when you fly! Calls are clear. The gestures on the right cup to adjust volume, skip a track...etc. is a joy! I am so happy with this purchase. Worth EVERY penny. I don't regret it. You won't either!

Better audio quality than Bose QC35 Series II
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - Sound quality - Long battery life (Bose was good too) - Good noise cancellation/isolation in a variety of environments (airport, airplane, urban, office, home) - Phone app EQ is a nice touch to fine tune for the music you typically listen to - Mic for phone call does a good job filtering out background noise and picking up my voice according to those on various conference calls Cons: - Not as comfortable as Bose (can only wear Sonys for 2-3 hours before needing to take a break [I wear glasses]) - pressure around the ear cups - Bluetooth pairing needs improvement (ie: switching between phones or phone to PC.) Bose does this very well - Touch sensitive controls on right earphone is meh and more of a gimmick. It's faster to use your phone or PC controls (applies to PC audio and PC phone [ie softphone]) - The ear cups feel like they rotate the "wrong way" when trying to put in the travel case. Hard to explain, but I didn't have this feeling with Bose. I hope I don't turn too hard the wrong way one time and break them - You're the conspicuous guy with the big headphones (applies to all over the ear headphones) I originally purchased the Bose QC35 Series II headphones, but returned them because for almost $400 after taxes they left a lot to be desired at normal listening volumes. For that kind of money, you shouldn't want too much more out of your headphones. Audio quality, hands down Sony is better. Noise cancellation, equal, comfort Bose (I do wear glasses so that might be why) but Sonys are acceptable. Phone call audio, equal. On headphone controls (ie: right ear touch controls), neither - interfacing with the phone is a better experience. I also have a pair of Sure SE535 and the sound stage on those in ear monitors (IEMs) are better, but they cost more and have a cord. Sony vs Shure, Sony doesn't have a neutral sound, it's a bit more focused towards the lows (bass), where as the IEMs are completely neutral. Sony does have good range for mids and highs. Sony audio quality is significantly better than Bose & Beats (Beats focus on lows and lack range in every other category. The only time you should buy Beats is if you find them for $100 and listen mostly to rap. A lot of EDM doesn't even sound good with those)

Absolutely Outstanding!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used the last generation of these headphones a few times and always thought they were pretty amazing. This new generation truly brings it to the next level; the sound clarity is phenomenal and they are incredibly comfortable. The new companion app makes these the only headphones you will need, you can easily go from a hyper accurate studio type headphone to a bass-heavy monster (and anywhere in between) with just a tap.

Love it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I now see why these cost so much. Never thought I’d spend this much on headphones but they are well worth it. I previously bought the Sony 950nc model and loved it. Until I discovered the audio leaks and people near you will hear the vocals.... that wasn’t cool. Decided to give these puppies a try in the store and fell in love with the NC features. Brought it home to test further and confirmed there is no audio leaks. Took it on a plane and let me tell you.... you don’t hear the loud plane engines at all! Love the different levels of NC. Love the audio enhancements. Very comfortable too! Had them on for 2.5 hours and didn’t bother at all.Well worth it’s price. I did test the Bose 35 but needed a little more bass in the audio.... this is perfect

Don't recommend
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They are too heavy and too hot and I wish I had not bought them. I bought lighter ones from an airport kiosk for about $50 and they are better. So sorry Bose stopped making the Quiet Comfort smaller headphones.

Perfect sound, especially with Sony app !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will keep it straightforward. I upgraded to the Sony 1000XM2 from Sony XB950N1, for $245 at a Labor Day promotional event. I have also used Bose QC25 before and Skullcandy earbuds. I have to say for certain, I was blown away by the acuteness and clarity of the bass, mid-tones and treble in the 1000XM2. Especially, when I heard Enigma (Sadness full version) and Revolution (Diplo), I have to say that I am blown away by the sound quality. I loved it even better when I had the equalizer at [-1, 1, 0, 3, 5] for 0.4, 1, 2.5, 6.3 and 16 KHz with True-Bass set at, say, 5, and soundstage set to 'Arena'. The sound was crisp and with a significant directionality, instrument tones were well separated, bass was thumping without being overwhelming. The clarity in high frequencies is definitely better than the Sony XB950N1, while bass is definitely stronger than Bose QC25, and crisper than the Skullcandy. What made me convinced of their superior quality, however, is the amount of customization of sound possible within the Sony app. I can select which soundstage I like, and the headphones delays the tones and adjusts the quality to accurately match that. It is an unmatched audio experience. The Google Assistant is a handy feature and is seamless, long hold on the right earcup activates Google assistant and listens to my orders (make phonecalls, leave texts, play music, get news among others). Finally, the noise cancellation is mindblowingly good and certainly better than any other headphones I have had. It cancels almost everything. I wear it on my car-ride to work, and I have an old car with a somewhat noisy engine and road noise. With the headphones, I hear nothing, all engine and road noise cancels out, it is so quiet as if the car is standstill. Battery with ANC lasted me over 24 hours with normal use (with normal use I charge it twice every week with 8 hours of use every day). What is amazing is that, ANC does not compromise the sound quality a bit, goes to show how well these headphones are tuned. Kudoes to Sony. Cons: I don't love the weight of the phones on my ears after two hours. I also don't like that the ANC turns itself off unless connected to bluetooth or the audio wire. Yet, I have to say, I am not returning these. I will buy another pair (this time the XM3) for my wife when the price comes down a bit. Thanks to Sony for putting so much thought to a product! I am giving my highest recommendations for these.

Best Headphones!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are, by far, the best headphones I have ever tried and owned. The noise cancelling is amazing and the sound quality is even better! I work with some annoying people and these help me keep my sanity intact. I can wear them all day comfortably, with no irritation. I have a large head, so its a bit of an issue to find headphones that fit, but these are perfect. I also use them about 8 hours a day, and can go 4 days on a single charge, which is rather impressive. I would highly recommend these headphones, and they are well worth the price!

Revolutionary headphones at great price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony isn't necessarily know for their headphones among most consumers and I urge anyone looking for quality headphones to try these out. Great sound backed by next-gen features that set this headset apart from all the competition. These headphones are very versatile and great for any user. Those like me who travel a lot and use their headphones in a variety of locations and environments will love this set. Noise cancelling was very good and adapted to the environment. Sound was balanced. Look nice. Pros: Battery Functionality/Versatility Quality Sound Loudness Noise Cancelling Touch Control Quick Attention Feature Accessories and Carrying case Look Price The sound on these headphones are very good. Good bass that does not over power the vocals and instruments. I believe the bass could have some more punch, but overall pretty happy with the balance. The highs come through clearly and without distortion at high volumes. Using a variety of sound tracks, multiple genres, and varying quality sound files, these headphones did not disappoint. I have experienced other headphones at even higher prices giving mixed results when playing different tracks. The bluetooth connection was strong and did not drop within 25feet. could probably go even further. Another high note was the loudness these headphones achieve on a bluetooth connection. Loudness is a common problem on wireless sets, but not here. These headphones look nice and will complement professional or casual use. Includes quality accessories: AUX cable, charging cable, airplane adapter, and nice hardshell carrying case. Many companies don't give these simple items and I'm glad Sony went the extra mile. The headphones use a touch style control system on the right ear cuff reducing the buttons found on many other wireless headphones. It takes a little getting used to and may not be as intuitive for more basic users. Overall it worked good enough, but I could see this as a potential downside for other buyers. You can also use this to activate the Voice Assistant on your connected device. Call answering and quality was good. I cannot stress how great this last feature is. It is called "Quick Attention". WOW!! This is Sony at its finest and shows how in touch they are with real world application. Example: You're on an flight watching a movie and the flight attendant comes buy. Instead of shuffling to remove your headset, pause the movie, etc...all you do is cover the right ear cuff like you're covering your ear and BOOM! you can have a full on conversation and hear everything. Even with noise cancelling activated! Also great for listening to next bus stop, pilot announcements, etc. Great job Sony! Noise cancelling was very good, not the best. However, it is adaptive to your environment and you can download an app onto your phone to customize many things such as noise cancelling/ambient noise ratio. Very good! Cons: Feel/Quality Noise cancelling not the best Overall, I do feel the quality and feel of these headphones could be better. I don't think they feel as strong and sturdy as I like. They are definitely lightweight, so maybe that is why they feel this way. Only time will tell how they will hold up. Noise cancelling is not the absolute best I've heard, but it is still good. Overall, I highly recommend this set.

Now a Necessity for City Living
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In short: the Sony 1000 XM2’s are phenomenal, and I would go so far as to say they are worth every penny. Similar to what most reviewers have already stated, they have the best noise-cancelling I have ever experienced (more on this in a moment), very good, balanced sound quality right out of the box, a largely durable, yet lightweight feel, and are exceptionally comfortable for long usage. Instead of going into detail on all those points, I instead will share an example of why they are so wonderful. I consider myself to be pretty noise-sensitive, yet love living in the city. I live in a busy downtown area with the full gamut of city noise: whizzing engines, dogs barking, music blasting, construction sites, etc. While these noises are bothersome, the noise from my neighbors has become a significant stressor. The incessant fighting, TVs blaring, and god-awful stomping have prevented me from getting much-needed peace and quiet after a long day at work. I have tried white noise machines, ear plugs, and budget noise-cancelling headphones, all of which have only marginally helped. After borrowing a pair of Bose QC35s from a friend for a few weeks, I was in total noise-cancelling bliss and knew that I needed to finally make the investment. At the store, I went back and forth between trying the 1000 XM2’s and the Bose. I found that the noise cancelling was a bit better and music sounded significantly crisper on the Sony’s. After buying the 1000 XM2’s, it is as if I live in an entirely different apartment. With just noise cancelling alone, my neighbors’ TVs, music, and fighting are completely inaudible. The stomping and loud traffic noises are also dramatically reduced, and sometimes can’t be heard at all. I have now found myself significantly less stressed and am able to enjoy my home again. I never write product reviews, but simply had to for these. If you want near-absolute peace and quiet with the click of a button, then don’t waste time with anything else. As somebody who is noise-sensitive, the Sony 1000 XM2’s are phenomenal and now a necessity for city living.

The best NC headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't really have to say too much, as a lot of the other reviews have covered these quite well, and in depth. The headphones are hands down some of the best NC headphones on the market currently. They have beat out the similar priced Bose headphones in multiple tests. The headphones feel extremely high quality, and they're comfortable to wear for many hours. I find myself having to charge mine once a week, as I use them between 2-4 hours daily. I'd highly recommend these for sure.

Amazing headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible comfort and noise cancellation. I initially got the Bose 35 but felt too much cabin pressure when noise cancellation was on. These sonys have minimal cabin pressure and I could wear for 8-10 hours while doing work
