Purchased for addition to my home audio system for my new Sony 4K Ultra HD Bravia tv. Very pleased with sound. Receiver comes with 4 HDMI inputs compatible with HDCP 2.2...nice inclusion for the price. Typically found on higher priced systems. Only grip is not being able to play my IPod through USB port. Indicates 'device not recognized'. I also own a Sony 5.2 channel receiver that I am able to play same IPod with no issue.

Hi omanbandit, we regret to hear what happened. Does the issue occur when using a different USB device with this receiver? Try using a different USB cable to isolate the issue. Purchased this item on sale recently for $199 to replace an aging unit that couldn't keep up with the times. It's not a high end system made for audiophiles, but at the price point being offered, it's a solid overall 7.2 powered receiver. I had originally purchased a comparable Denon model that was defective, and returned that item for this Sony model. The Sony is clearly the better product of the two and is both sturdier in build and better in sound quality and video throughput. All of the receivers in this price range offer the same basic features with but a few exceptions among them. This particular model has 4 HDMI inputs, 2 sub woofer outputs, and binding posts for speaker connections. Many of the other receivers in this category (including the Denon model I returned) have the old school bare wire screw or spring connectors, which is a sign of just how cheaply made they are in comparison. This Sony model does not have an AM Antenna connection for some reason (only FM), which I found rather odd, but otherwise it comes with all the inputs and outputs you'll likely need. So far, I've had no issues with this item and am pleased with the purchase.. I'd like to have more time using it before I would wholeheartedly recommend it to others, but if you were looking for a 5.1 to 7.2 sound solution in this price range, this Sony model is probably as good as its going to get at this time all things being considered.

I bought this receiver for only $200.00, it had everything I wanted. It had enough power to make my surround sound , sound great. It had blue tooth, which was a must . It has a very clean simple look. It's kind of big ,but so are all the other receivers. Easy to hook up.

Very easy setup. Use the microphone given and plug it in the front to do an automatic configuration for your speakers. It plays tones in each speaker connected to set levels, etc. The plug is a little finicky. Just make sure it is plugged in all the way and the unit auto configs itself very quickly. Works great and sounds great after that. Matched this with my Sony 4K TV. Very please so far.

When my son updated his entertainment system, he purchased this amp and recommended it to me. Great quality and features (incline east set up) and half the price of my last receiver. I use it as my hub for tv and DVD. Love the easy set up to adjust speaker levels.

Got this to replace an out of the box home theater system. It is my first real receiver and I got it on sale which was nice but I must say it is worth full price. While Samsung might be the leader in tvs, Sony makes good quality audio equipment and I’m always impressed with it. You can hook up 7 speakers and 2 subs to this thing which is crazy! I couldn’t image the sound you’d get from that. I currently had 5.1 set up and it sounds awesome. I like the easy set up and auto calibration makes it easy for people who don’t wanna mess with it for long before enjoying it. It has lots of sound modes for movies and music and a night mode to keep it down when people are sleeping in the house. You can hookup 4 hdmi components through it and to the tv also in 4K. I wish I would have gotten one sooner.

Easy to set up , sounds great with my Onkyo speakers. When first setting up your sound do it manually, don't put the sensor in the middle of the room and let it run itself , you won't be happy with the sound.ive only had it for a few weeks so far do good.i got lucky and bought it on sale for 199.00 , the next comparable models are twice that.

Purchased for compatibility with Sony Bravia TV. Interfaces beautifully with the TV. First time in 20 years I’ve been able to control volume with the same remote used for channel selection. Total compatibility with FiOS Motorola box and remote. Sound quality is good. Not great, but good. My goal was convenience not exceptional sound quality.

Wow! This receiver is amazing--absolutely amazing! Admittedly, I am a big Sony fan. This is my third Sony home theater receiver. Each one gets better. I purchased this receiver due to a new XBox One S console and wanted a receiver that would be able to push 4K HDR to my TV. Aside from Best Buy's sale price the bonuses of this receiver are the ability to play music from my phone and iPad via Bluetooth and (and this was huge) my speakers (from two receivers ago--12 years old) sound better and stronger than ever. The sound we experience is much more immersive and rich. I got much more than I anticipated when hooking up this receiver. I found everything about it easy and intuitive but that may be because I am familiar with Sony receivers and favor them to other brands.

Got it on sale for a great price, super easy setup, works with all my gear and samsung 8000. Bluetooh feature is great because it helps get rid of a bunch of cords behind your tv or entertainment center.

I can't believe I get everything I wanted in a receiver for less than $200. I got 7.2 sound, bluetooth connectivity, a USB interface and HDMI inputs and outputs. It sounds great and has just about the right number of sound effects. It was very easy to set up and get going. I could not be happier with this product. Strangely, the only thing missing was AM radio! I thought AM radio was kind of a default for any receiver, but I guess that is going obsolete. However, that was not a requirement and is no big deal. Just be aware that if you need AM radio, this receiver does not have it.

This is my first updated A/V Home Theater Receiver in ten years. The Sony more then exceeded my expectations. The price point was excellent; more than enough power to drive my 5 speakers; the sound quality, crisp and clean; and the set-up, not at all complicated. Although I'm not utilizing the 7.2 channel capability, I like the idea of being able to add more speakers, if I choose. The unit integrated well with my cable box and 65" Smart TV. The only drawback, so far, has been that I haven't been able to pair the volume control with the cable box remote. I have to use the Sony receiver remote to lower or increase the volume.............a small price to pay for this major improvement in my Home Theater system.

I bought this Sony receiver to replace my ten year old Onkyo 7.1 because the rear channels starting producing heavy static. This Sony is absolutely awesome! Setup was super easy. My only complaint is that it's list of compatible bluetooth headphones is pretty short. Other than that, awesome!

Great for hooking up multiple speakers and has built in sound profiles but haven't figured out how to program own sound profile. Has all the newest ports for expansion and the built in blue tooth allowed me to use a tv that the sound board was blown out. Overall a great buy.

Definitely an upgrade from older model of SONY receiver. I purchased this one to enjoy 4K content on my TV and I am very happy with my decision to purchase this SONY receiver. Sound is great, easy to set up, and 4K support is what I expected from SONY and was not disappointed.

I had just 3 needs to consider when purchasing a reciever; connect to my 5.1 speakers, connect to ARC, and bluetooth. I know you get what you pay for, but when I saw this model, I thought check, check, check. I have an LG OLED C7, and I like using that to change the inputs rather than the reciever. I was a little worried after reading about ARC stability, but I haven't had an issue so far. My only con is how big this thing is. The 6.1" height listed doesn't include the legs. It barely fits in my stand. Hopefully there's no issues overheating as I only run it 2 hours at a time for movies. It sounds great!
