Bought to add to 4K Samsung 55”curve tv with Samsung dvd. After hooking up speakers the next step was to plug in antenna for reception to broadcast am fm the minute plug pushed all the way into receiver. Disappointed, I had to disconnect and return. Wanted to like it, but cheap way to hook up antenna. Decided to keep my Pioneer receiver with hdmi ports , but only worked with Digital Fiber Opitical cable for Samsung tv , from what I’ve read, sound from digital fiber not as good as hdmi, I beg to differ. Will blow anything away that’s new and 4K . Don’t waste money on 4K receiver thinking they are better than what you already have.

I love it! the sound! The look! and it calibrates itself! movie come out sounding like real life everytime. Granted you have the right speakers.
it is simple to operate if you don't mind limited modifications, because it does everything for you so I guess if your the old school tweak and listen type then maybe its not for you. can't beat the price!

Got this during black friday when it was $ 199. For that price it's been a fantastic upgrade from the receiver I had before. I'd upgraded to a 4k tv the previous black friday and my old surround system only had 1080p pass through which wouldn't work for my Amazon Fire TV and future 4k devices I am sure to get. So I needed something like this. Also my old surround reeiver started to have some funky issues with the subwoofer where it was making some ear piercing noises sometimes. I am not sure if it was cables being too close together or too close to a power cable..but when I got this receiver that issue was no longer there.
In fact, keeping the same speakers I had before my audio sounds so much better. It's great. I appreciate that the controller is simplified, but I'd have gone with something more aesthetically pleasing visually.
No complaints here for the price. Doesn't have like Dolby Atmos...but that's fine.
My current TV doesn't have HDR so I can't comment on it, but I also pulled the trigger on this when I read it also does HDR pass through so I'm future proof'd there.
Still only using this as a 5.1 system. I am looking forward to grabbing two more speakers and making this a 7.1 set!
Quite pleased with this purchase.

This receiver does a good job for the money... replaced a older Yamaha receiver without HDMI hookups. This does most everything you would want. Does not have a coax connection for fm antenna like the old receiver but most people use the Bluetooth now anyway. I bought on a sale... was only $199 but even at $349 full retail it is a bargain.

Bought this Sony Home Theater Receiver to replace a similar receiver that was ruined by Hurricane Harvey. This one has a little less power than my previous one, however it is a 4K compatable and works much better with my Sony Brava 4K TV. Set up is fairly easy if you can follow directions. What I like about the Sony home theater receivers is the calibration microphone that gets my built in speakers running through the home theater perfectly synchronized with the TV speakers. Bluetooth is a great for running my iTunes music through the speakers for parties. Comes with a good remote but hardly ever use because the tuner turns on and off when the TV, Disk player, DIRECTV receiver, turn on. A few minor drawbacks. The on screen menus look very old school and analog. Also when switching from one HDMI input to another the receiver pops up a menu where you have to select which one you are going to, and it stays on the screen even though what you have switched to is already on in the back ground. Over all good tuner for the money. It also works well older with my Sharp Aquos TVs.

For the price I paid for this Sony dh770 Receiver I really don't have any complaints it works as intended for my needs. If your someone that's wanting a movie theater feel regarding to sounds but doesn't want to break the bank this would be the route to go within reason, you can hook up 7 satelite speakers along with 2 sub woofer using the the LFE line and on top of that it also has additional hooks up if your using Bi-Amp speakers, it also allows to use banana plugs which is a god send and make everything nice and neat. I think the only small con I have is and unsure if there ever releasing an update but this model doesn't have DTS-X or Atmos support, even though it may not have it, it'll still operate and render the audio in True HD but , again this is a nice entry level receiver and does what I need it for and with mine I have it paired up with Definitive Tech ProCinema 600 and after fine tuning everything the system packs a punch in my room and sounds never sounded so crispy like being in a movie theater

Sony home theater by choice

I chose the Sony home theater after reading the specifications. One particular reason was due to the HDCP compatabilty. In recent purchases with streaming devices some streaming device won't play on tvs that are not compatible, or maybe I didn't know how to get around this. However, because of this system being compatible I felt I wouldn't experience that issue anymore. I like that the system finds the right input to connect to. I like the sound choices for the ability to fill the room no matter if it music, or a movie with plenty of realistic sound. I also like the ability to connect via Bluetooth with wireless headphones to listen or watch tv late night not to disturb others. The HDMI cables hook up was a bit challenging to me. Reason being my tv is a smart tv so it streams Netflix, HULU etc.. within the system and the home theater wouldn't play the sound for steaming it would stay on the sat/catv input. I'm still trying to figure out if the hdmi(arc) input will solve this or not. However, I've had this receiver for one week and will try to figure it out. Before I seek assistance.

I bought this receiver because I was in a position that I believe a lot of people find themselves in. I had bought a 4K TV on sale, set it up, and then realized that my old receiver did not have 4K pass through. A receiver hadn't been on my mind or in my budget. So I started looking to see what affordable options I had. This was on sale for under $200 and had all the features I needed and more. Though switching to this 7 channel receiver I felt that I needed to purchase two more speakers as well. Now instead of just buying a 4K TV, I had bought a TV, a receiver, and two speakers. It was a little more expensive than intended but all in all I ended up with a pretty kick butt home theater. For those in the same predicament as I was, this is a decent well-priced receiver.

Using this receiver with and Xbox one s and Sony xbr-65x850D tv and getting full 4K and 7.1 from my Xbox
I upgraded from a Sony dn1000 receiver
I don't like the fact this doesn't have a GUI like the older dn1000 did but this unit is simpler to use over all if you're not a hard core audiophile
