Honestly, I loathed my previous Sony AV receiver from 2011 & didn't want to purchase another as it had no distinction between voices & background music/noise. The 2011 setup menu was slow to respond and a pain to use. But, I needed a cheap receiver fast and caught the sale. I'm glad I did! Sony has greatly improved their AV receivers over my old model. This receiver is 7.2 Channels, 145W, 3D capability, and 4k. You can clearly hear voices distinguished from background sounds and the tones are rich. The setup was easy for me (from prior experience) and the remote is now very manageable and basic. If not for a simple technical error, I probably could have had this AV receiver set up and running in about 35 minutes or less.

Remote control function is limited. Exchanged an onkyo 5.1 for this sony 7.2....it sounds good. Set up was easy but I expect more compared to the cheaper onkyo. But for 299$ it's the best priced good deal in bestbuu2for a receiver.

Super easy setup. Plenty of power. Interfaces with television is very easy. Most of the machines like this are near $500. Ran into a lot of problems with other brands and this great machine is only a couple hundred bucks.

I had an older Denon receiver which worked great but doesn't have 4k or HDR pass thru. This Sony receiver list both and is under $200 at the time of writing this. Set up the new Sony with the existing speakers quickly and without issues. The 4K looked just as good as when the gaming systems were plugged directly into the TV. The HDR pass thru was not set automatically though. After reading thru the manual you find that you have to change the setting for each of the 4 HDMI inputs. Easy to do once you realize and how both gaming systems are sending thru 4K and HDR out of the one Sony receiver. Much easier to manage and sounds great. Also, the Bluetooth connection for my Android phone was quick and painless. Great Great receiver for the price. Very happy.

Purchased this particular item for four reasons. #1- it's a Sony. #2- Bluetooth. #3- USB port. #4- it was on sale. The Bluetooth is flawless; paired easy and turns itself on automatically. Very nice. Made a USB stick with all Christmas music, plugged it in and presto...don't have to tie up my I-Pod with it. Next stick will have Hendrix, Cream and Black Sabbath and I'll be in heaven. Wife will probably leave. Great power, crisp sound. Easy remote. Super price. Also bought a new Sony center speaker and that helped the vocals a lot. Read revues that said it runs a little hot so made up four little legs to lift my cable box 1 1/2 inches off the air vents. Painted them black to match the case. Perfect solution although it's on a semi-open shelf, not enclosed so this might not work for you.

I really like this piece its easy to use has good power.

I've owned 3 Sony amps over the years now and they all have worked flawlessly within their lifetime. Only one had a channel start crackling after 7 years of service. The others were upgraded and this purchase was no different. This one took the place of a STR-DH720 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver of 4 yrs. to get the 4k and Bluetooth. Got it on a open-box super deal of $130 and sold the DH720 for $120 to a friend, so a $10 UPGRADE. Love how much quicker this receiver response/locks to input change as compared to the older DH720. This unit has great sound and can be configured to many a speaker combination but I still go with the old 5.1 structure. If you are looking for an all around powerful surround amp with little hassle and setup EZ then this is one is the one to look at.

I had upgrade my TV to HDR TV. As a result, I have to upgrade my receiver to HDR too. I did some homework and found this Sony Receiver. I connect the Sony Receiver with my previous speaker. Firstly, I tested radio (B’cos I can’t live without radio lol) the bass is great, and sound was crisp clear. It works great. Then I started to connect with my LG 55c7p TV. Most likely I doesn’t understand how this TV works and couldn’t make the Sony Receiver apps appear on thy TV. I was stress out and returned the Receiver. In fact, for this value the receiver generate the surround sound and Bluetooth is way above the value. If I could figure out how to connect with my LG TV, I am going to bring the receiver home again.

Replaced 16 yr old system. The Sony unit a real advancement. Had to get new (Sub) for this unit because it is set up for powered woofer. Sound is fantastic for home theater. Used existing speakers Ctr, Frt & Rr. Hooked unit up as 5.1 but will add more later for 7.2. Auto sound set up is amazing! I LIKE this 1015w 7.2 unit.

Easy set up for video. Compatible with my Sony TV and Blu-ray. Instructions for FM and Bluetooth setups not very good. I got a great price around Christmas and I'm happy with sound and ease of TV viewing.

we were looking for an affordable 4K receiver and this one is perfect! Plenty of push for our speakers and easy setup. Definitely a top contender if you are looking to upgrade to match your 4K TV.

This system was easy to swap out with my old receiver. I hooked this up to speakers that are 15 years old and they still sound amazing. The receiver does make a loud sound when it's first turned on. My old one made a sound too, but not as loud as this one. It is quiet while running though. Overall, great product!

I bought this receiver after a four day old yamaha receiver died and i`m happy it did. The sony is more powerful, sounds better and was easy to set up. I`ve had it for about three weeks now with no problems at all.

Needed a new receiver to power two towers and a large subwoofer. Has more then enough power. For the price it doesn't get any better. Looks nice in the entertainment system and works perfectly. Easy set up.

I haven't bought a new receiver in nearly eight years. Everything I own is Sony (TV, Blu-Ray player). I love this product. It was easy to setup and using the HDMI I don't have to multiple remotes to switch between cable, blu-ray, and ROKU. If you like Sony products, you won't be disappointed in this one.
