Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

Purchased on sale for 449.00 This receiver is easy to operate, especially a Home button on the remote to select your input. Have not touched the receiver since I hooked it up. Surround sound works great. Button on remote to easily select all channel stereo to get sound out of all speakers when watching everyday tv that does not have surround. Replaced a 4year old Pioneer Receiver and couldn't be more pleased. Tried a Denon and had to return it as it was defective. Running with Sony UHD BluRay, Sony 1st Generation BluRay, Sony STRDN1080 and a Samsung 8000 Series 4kUHD TV
PS- THERE IS ABSOLUTELY AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR EXPENSIVE HDMI CABLES

Yeah baby. Groovin tunes and Dolby Atmos like the sweet sound of surround in action. Definitely would recommend this smooth home theatre component for your upcoming entertainment rig. Impress the family, friends and neighbors with smooth sounding vibes and sweet fiber connected interface. The remote is old school IR and clunky but that won’t get any notice when Oceans 11 is playing and you’re right there in the movie with Danny Ocean.

This is an absolutely amazing product from Sony. If I had to nitpick the only thing I could say was that the speaker terminals on the back were a little close together for my large fingers. Once everything is hooked up Sony's included calibration mic made setup a total breeze. The amp has power to spare and decodes both Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. I can't say enough about the quality and detail of the high-res audio. This product deservedly has awards from CNET, and is an amazing value at its price.

I had been looking at the Home Theater Receiver for about a year and never pulled the trigger on buying it because I have had great luck with the denon Receivers but after about 3 years my Denon in command receiver front display went out and it would cost more to fix it then just to get another one so I went for the Sony 7.2 with Dolby Atmos 4K. I have all Sony HDR speakers but the subwoofer. Sounds great and I don’t have to crank it up like the old Denon I had still get some channels that are naturally low but not as much as before. I have found that some channels have a lower grade of movies that real makes the speakers crackle so I have to stay away from them so far USA and FX I have found certain movies do this but my 4K player movies sound perfect. I set everything up myself and went with he banana plugs for the custom speaker wires I made. If you want quality sound I recommend doing this. This receiver has done everything and more for me. I have never had ones FM tuner work as well as this ones does. 2 thumbs up for this product. I have had this for about month now don’t like to post anything until I have given it time to show its colors if you know what I mean. I hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade their home theater system.

This thing rocks. It delivers Dolby Atmos in the highest quality. The surround sound out of this reciever is truly amazing. I’ve owned Sony receivers for years and I do have to say there just is no comparison. Just when you thought you had the best, Sony takes it one step farther. If your on the fence as to whether you want to buy this reciever for its Dolby Atmos, don’t be. Just go ahead and buy it. I promise you it will not disappoint. As far as music, same thing, this thing delivers in sound quality. With 6 HDMI inputs to boot, that just makes the purchase that much easier. A lot of Higher priced reciever don’t give you this many. Just buy it.

Powerful , easy to use. feature rich, affordable. I managed to pick this up on sale for $429.00 . At that price point this receiver simply can't be beat. The microphone included for automatic room calibration is easy to use. And it actually makes a difference. This receiver replaces my Yamaha Aventage RXA-730. Which not only cost more in 2013. It doesn't support HDR pass through. The sony interface is so simple in camparison to my former Yamaha. It also sounds better than my former receiver. Being under $500 when formats change in the next few years replacing this won't sting as much . Well done Sony.

I replaced my old Harmond Kadon receiver. It was way under power rated and I was worried that this Sony would not be as good. The only reason I replaced the HK unit was it was too big for the new stand my wife wanted when she redecorated. This Sony impressed me. I set it up fast even though I did it without the auto setup feature. There are plenty of adjusments and features. No problems with this receiver that other reviewers have had. I am using all Klipsch speakers with Atmos ability.

I've had this for about a month, and so far so good. Setup was simple, it has a GREAT interface, and has managed to make my low grade speakers sound like high end ones. The sound is beyond what I expected to be honest. I have a good selection of current and classic video games connected to this receiver, and the sound from them is amazing. My only complaint is that there is no option to set what you would like as the default sound option for each input. For example, if I go to play Super Nintendo on lets say input 2, it will always start with "multi stereo" option selected and I have to manualy change it to dolby digital. If thats no big deal to you, then you should be good.

Great sound and Image with a Easy Set up, I have this connect to a Optoma UHD52ALV 4K HDR projector. Sources from Xbox x series and Apple TV 4K both pass through in beautiful 4K HDR at 60FPS . Dolby atmos works perfectly with both sources. Xfinity 4K box only passes through in 4K no HDR or Dolby but that’s gonna be a limitation of your fathers cable company :) anywho great set up for gaming. (Set up 7:2 , Definitive tech surround speakers, SVS subs, and ALLEASA 8K HDMI 2.1 Cables)

I've always tried to keep up with the latest and greatest in tech. The problem is i'm not as knowledgeable as I think sometimes. This is great product hands down. The set-up was stress free and extremely easy. The sound quality is unbelievable. My only problem is I need to tweak a few things and time and knowledge have kept me from it. I can hear what this unit is capable of I just haven't set down and tweaked some settings to my personal preference. The surround sound and blue tooth are outstanding. The bottom line is it was well worth the money and I have product that will serve my many tech needs in a stereo.

Sort of new to the AVR seen so still learning all that this can do. Works perfectly with my new 65" TV. Got a new 4k blue ray and the movie / theater sound experience is better than anything I have had before. For the price and being new to the AVR I am impressed.

Replaced an Old Sony Receiver - Better Sound

I replaced an older model Sony surround sound receiver with this newer model. I needed to pass through HDR and Dolby Vision content to a new TV, which this is capable of. I didn't expect the sound to be so much better, but the processing is incredible, even with only 5.1 channels. Looking into adding 2 ceiling speakers to get Atmos effects now. The only downside is the receiver won't stay in Auto Direct mode, it wants to switch automatically to "Multi St." or "Dolby Surround". I much prefer less processing, so I have to keep switching it to direct for 5.1 channel sources. 5 stars if not for that.

I have really enjoyed this receiver for the couple months that I have owned it. I had an old Onkyo 5.1 receiver, and subjectively I think the audio quality is much better and it supports newer formats. I really like that it plays well with my Sony TV. It automatically switches inputs. The Google Home/Assistant integration also works better than my old setup. If you read some of the professional reviews, you will see some drawbacks noted. In particular, I wish the menus were a little better. For my setup though, I don't have any buyer's remorse. It's my favorite receiver that I have ever owned.

I upgraded to this unit from a Yamaha RX-V687. The yamaha was a great unit but, although it supported 4k, didn't support hdcp 2.2 which pretty much made it worthless for 4k. This unit has pretty much every feature you could want, sounds fantastic, supports all the newest formats and standards, and all for a steal of a price. I snagged it for $400 on black friday which is amazing for what you get with this unit. It's still a good value even at full price. I've been a yamaha receiver man for quite a while, but i think sony may have won my loyalty with this one.
