I love audio. I am by no means a true audiophile but I really enjoy good quality audio. The Sony 1AM2 are exactly what I was looking for. Its high resolution audio at a very affordable and attractive price.
These look great. I do think I was a bit surprised by how small they actually were but this was by no means a negative. They are extremely light which is awesome. In our society today, we seem to mistake weight with quality when often the manufacturers just put metal to make the headphones heavier...a certain brand comes to mind. However, these headphones don't cater to those demands and prioritize comfort. I could wear these babies all day! They also seem to have very good build quality despite the use of plastic. Only time will tell but these seem very sturdy.
The sound quality was excellent. The bass is not overwhelming but are still there. The middles and highs were great. Good clarity. With these, I love that I am able to listen to any genre of music and still enjoy the sound quality. Even without the use of an amp and just plugging it into my phone (which still has a headphone jack), I could enjoy these headphones.
All in all, these headphones are the best deal around in my book. The high quality of these place these above the competition in the same price range.

Who cares about sound quality if the headphones that you are using hurt your ears? I bought these Sony headphones to replace an aging set of Bose AE2 headphones that are slowly falling apart. I tried the Sony headphones, but they hurt my ears so bad, I went back to my old Bose headphones. I still have the Sony headphones, in case my Bose headphones stop working altogether.

Very Good Wired Headphones

These were very surprisingly good headphones! I have another brand that were my "go to" headphones when I wanted to really get into the sound and knew Bluetooth headphones just couldn't get there. I also have some Sony V7s and these headphones will replace them both. Very defined and smooth. The high end is nearly too high but does allow for a better soundstage. The bass is strong but well defined. Headphones and high end audio equipment is extremely subjective, so if you are just listening to background music or listening for gaming, these are overkill. But if you are looking to immerse yourself and appreciate being able to hear nuances and definition in your music, for the price you will not be disappointed. Good Shopping!

Amazing sound quality and comfort

To put things bluntly, the Sony 1AM2 headphones are the best wired headphones I have ever used. The sound quality, craftsmanship, and comfort are truly second to none. The lay-flat design is great and the carrying pouch it comes with is a nice bonus. They are very lightweight but pack an incredible punch when it comes to the sounds they produce. They are not considered “noise-cancelling” and they cannot be used wirelessly via Bluetooth so if either of those things are important to you, it would be best to look for a different pair of headphones but if you are looking for a great pair of wired headphones with amazing sound quality and comfort, you can’t go wrong with these and I highly recommend them!

I bought Sony - 1AM2 Wired based on the description in the BB website
and the key features don't exist:
Noise cancellation and Environmental Noise Control
I sent the headphones to Peru as a gift for my father who has some hearing issues, and I thought these headphones will help him out.
Order number: BBY01-806700782068
I paid a lot of money to ship the headphones to Peru now I have to orchestrate bringing them back. We are talking about $120 extra for the shipping.
It is unfortunate that Best Buy does not take care of the description on its website; it completely defeats the efficiency of online purchases.

The first thing that you notice with these headphones are how lightweight they are. Once you put them on, they are very comfortable. Once you fire up the tunes, they do not disappoint there either. The sound quality is excellent. With crisp clear sound along with being lightweight and comfortable, they are easy to listen to over long periods of time. I think that Sony has hit a home-run with these headphones and would recommend them to anyone looking a quality set of wired headphones.

same great sound as the MDR-1A but not as comfortable—sits tighter around the skull—which is not a good thing.

The Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones - Black brings much to the over the ears crowded field with these hi-res renditions! I was quite impressed with the overall look and feel of the headphone despite being plastic and not the typical "drum-line" popular brand. They felt good on the ears and never got too hot or put too much pressure on them which I often get from other headphones. The sound was excellent as I ran them through a variety of different audio trials and found that all ranges were full and clear. I even heard sounds on a cheesy video game I play that I never heard before because I always used the monitor's speakers - I was actually confused where the sound was coming from at first.
PROS
Sony Quality!
Well designed
Excellent Sound and Range
Nice Accessories and Bag
Light Weight
Premium Feel
Blocks most noises despite not being Noise-canceling
CONS
None at this time!

Works Best with the iPhone, but still works well.

Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones are not Bluetooth capable. It is a traditional wired headset that I can connect to my smartphone or walkman. It comes with two cables for using with a smartphone (microphone and multi-function button cable) or walkman (basic cable). The Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones is more compatible with an iPhone, but will work with any android device. The multi-function button does not work correctly with my Google Pixel phone. Songs do not advance to the next song by double pressing, nor do songs go back to the previous track by triple pressing. Songs do advance and go back, but they skip in no specific order.
The Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones earpad’s feels very soft and comfortable. The fit is not tight and expands enough to adjust for a snug fit. The quality of the sound is perfect. Sony quality and superior craftsmanship and technology can be seen and heard once the Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones are in use. I installed the Smart Key app to control some of the functionality of the phone, but there was no compatibility between the app and my Google Pixel. Forgiving those minor quarks, the Sony - 1AM2 Over-the-Ear Hi-Res Headphones are great for plugging in and listening to my devices.

I'm not an Audiophile but, I do have to say that the Sony MDR1AM2 has opened a whole new listening horizon. I listened to my usual play list and thought is this a new version of the song? This head set helps you uncover tones you can't hear with ordinary headphones. I was blown away. i think I just found my new "Go to" headphones for video production work.
Obviously they sound great (3Hz - 100kHz). But... they are not noise cancelation headphones. I guess they are designed for studio work. They are very light weight and the ear cups are designed with very soft leathery material. They may get warm from wearing them for long periods of time but not too many over the ear headphones can't say that. In the box are a carrying pouch and 2 types of cables. 1 Inline remote and microphone cable and a balanced-connection headphone cable.
I highly recommend getting these. They are a whole new experience.

First I am not into wired headphones but that being said the sound reproduction is off the chart compared to my other Bluetooth/wireless headphones. While not exactly noise cancelling, they do a fantastic job of removing background noise, another plus.
The quality is very much off the chart and looks to be built to last. The lightness and comfort are exceptional.
But in the end I prefer wireless to be unencumbered by wires but for those that absolutely demand the best sound reproduction, then these are for you. In addition at this price I would want to protect my 8nvestment with some sort of hard case and not just a bag.

Notice it says Wired over the ear headphones. It does NOT come with any sort of cord/wire attachment, but instead has a female connector for you to Buy a audio cord. Make sure u understand that since it is a female connection that you need a double Male audio cord.
Normally if it says Sony I am very comfortable about what I was getting. It is a Very Misleading advertisement

I have pretty high expectations for Sony products because we are a big fan of the ones we already have: such as our television, sound bar, portable speakers and the list goes on. I am happy to say that these headphones do not disappoint.
These headphones are being used a decent amount of time each day for pc gaming, video watching and general music listening. In each scenario they have not disappointed in the least; we have found the sound quality to be excellent.
I think a really important feature that makes these headphones stand out from a very crowded field of competitors is their lightweight design. We have had other headphones with equally good sound quality, but they were too heavy to wear comfortably for extended periods of time. Sony has found a winning balance of quality materials and lightweight design to really make these an awesome option for gamers and audiophiles.
I'd highly recommend these headphones and feel that they more than live up to the Sony name and reputation.

What a great Headphone! The sound is fantastic. The fit is very comfortable, all headphones should sound and feel this way. Sony is really stepping up their game when it comes to quality. I am very impressed. You will not be disappointed. Highly suggest you pick one up. I tried both listening to music and also in my recording studio and now I prefer these over my regular studio phones for mixing. I am considering a 2nd set.

I bought these headphones to go with my new Sony nw-a306 digital Walkman and they are freak'n amazing! I've not had a really good over the ear set of headphones since I bought a set 20 years ago. I'm not an audiophile, but I agree with all of the reviews, these headphones are worth the price. I loaded cd quality music on my new Walkman and the sound is perfect. I'm hearing parts of the music I've never heard listening any other way. I've tried these headphones with my phone as well and what an improvement. I really like my small Bose wired headphones for travel due to their size. However, if I can use my new Sony headphones while at home relaxing with a good Irish wisky, well need I say more. Get a set of these headphones, pour your favorite drink and relax. Enjoy!

It makes me appreciate music to another level!

So I have really good quality bluetooth headphones, I thought it will be just the same as this one, but no--- these bring the sound to a different level! I am a musician but not an audiophile; I was afraid I will not be able to really tell the difference. This is how I can describe how the sound is--- it is like playing music in a bigger studio space. If you play multiple instruments on a cramped or a smaller space, you can hear everything loud and clear-- but there is conflict in each instrument and each sound seems to compete with another. With these headphones, it is like the instruments are all placed away from each other giving each instrument a good amount of space to jump around on. It results in a clear unobstructed appreciation of each music element-- the different melodies, the beats, etc. I also noticed that the volume sensitivity on these headphones are good, meaning I don't have to blow up the source to appreciate the sounds. These are really good headphones, Just make sure you have the HQ or hi-res source to play from (youtube hi-res sound samples are the easiest accessible source) and you will know what I am talking about!
