    It did not give us the surround sound we wanted so we returned it for a receiver and surround speakers

    The Sony sound bar I purchased did not live up to its expectations. I returned the product. It would not work on a consistent basis. One day it seemed to work, the next day it didn't. Strange situation. I could not keep the sound level consistent with the movie or show I was watching. Just not happy with this purchase.

    Difficult to connect

    Hooked this up to my 4K Samsung TV. Most times not recognized even though it’s connected via HDMI cord. Have to scroll through the inputs multiple times before the sound will play. Would take it back if it weren’t passed the grace period.

    Just stopped working while watching a movie. Could not get it to reset or reconnect to TV. It is unlikely i will buy another sound bar but if i do it will absolutely not be a sony.

    Possibly a defective soundbar system

    Since this was an open-box purchase, the soundbar could have been defective, but it definitely had problems. Each time I turned on the TV/soundbar, the soundbar would start out at the highest volume possible. I learned to turn on the TV/soundbar while I was wearing noise-canceling headphones. And, the actual soundbar sound was not all that good. Randomly or when a sound-effects scene came along, the soundbar would go to its highest volume level with no warning. I tried the soundbar for a week, hoping for improved results, but it never happened, so I returned it

    First of all let me start of by saying this: Purchase the geek 4yr extended warranty, it paid dividends. I purchase my first soundbar 2 years ago, it was a Sony soundbar like this one but basic model. I wasn't too happy because I felt the sound was great, amazing but to be honest just not quite loud even though it was 300 watts. So I returned it and purchase a Vizio sb3851-CO. Amazing soundbar, good bass, voice and super loud. Huge problem: it's system equalizer was so bug out that if you were playing movies or audio with low db/kbps/sound it would completely drop the frame/sound which resulted in a annoying cut in cut out. Took me 2 year 2 realize it was visio soundbar and not my TV. Apparently Vizio has a huge problem with sound jitters or drops. Best buy accepted my warranty return and gave me credit for full paid price on soundbar (not including paid warranty) and this is where my review begins with this Sony HT-CT800. Well sorta. I purchased the HT-CT800 giving Sony another try. I was blown away by the store model, very loud and beautiful. Bought it, set it up and Work right out of the box. However it sounded nothing like the store model. So why did I give it 5 stars and said it has amazing sound? When you listen to any store model soundbar, have you notice what's always usually playing as Demo? It's music. Music tends to be recorded at louder frequency , way louder with more bass then movies or shows. Keep that in mind. After noticing this I tested many songs and many movies. The soundbar wasn't to blame, the quality was superb but the loudness and bass will depend on your media and source. Meaning: what your playing the media from and how good of quality it is. So test various songs/shows/movies and presets for each before saying it's not loud or bad. I am very happy with the quality of this soundbar and at times I can't even raise the volume pass 32 (50 being Max) because it's too loud. I love the looks, the bass and the built-in chrome cast. With soundbar I think back speakers are over rated, had them in my Vizio and don't miss them at all. However if you must have them, Sony has wireless speakers for this model you can purchase separately. To conclude, I think it's worth saying that at first I did return this Sony soundbar only to give Samsung HW-m550 a chance and even purchase the back rear speakers, which didn't even come with screws and did not fit on your traditional speaker stands. Sound was very loud and crisp, clear but too on the treble side. Not enough bass from sound bar or even subwoofer. I was really annoyed by their sound scaling level as well which reach 100 and took so long to go up and down. But gave you better control over sound level at the same time, I guess. So I return it and got the Ht-ct800. Yep this was the winner.

    Only way this soundbar worked was by optical connection. HDMI did not work out of the box. Multiple calls to Sony support finally resulted in me sending this off for repair under the warranty.

    Great Sound but quit working!!

    I have had my sound bar for almost three months now. This system worked great for the first two and all of a sudden went out. The system is hook up through the tv arc port. It is almost like the port on the sony bar is to big or something. It appears the port is shorting out the system causing it to go into standby mode. It will stay in standby mode till I unplug it and plug back in. It then will try to find connections then falls back into standby mode. I really would like to get this fixed because i loved the sound!!!!!

    Wasted my 10% off coupon

    Was talked into getting a Sony soundboard with my new 900e. I have a Vizio that is half the price and twice as clear. I was unhappy with it and wish I could have saved my 10% coupon for another item.
