performs well, sounds good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set up system hooked up with a CD player. I have dual big boy speakers and two wall Bose speakers. The system handles the big boys as well as the wall speakers, plus I can select both sets for room filling sound. The AM/FM receiver works well, and the use of presets for station selection is really great.

Good 2 channel for price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the remote functions of the receiver. Selecting stations was a challenge. Antenna's aren't the greatest but will do for now. It does have adequate inputs for various devices. Again, not many decent 2 channels around for this price.

Good for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased as an open item, used to replace a Yamaha stereo receiver at our camp. In comparison the Yamaha had better sound quality and while it was less power the Yamaha actually could play louder than this receiver. The tuner reception is not the best as well. Is a nice small size when compared to other stereo models (ex.Insignia). Works well for what it is designed for but if you are an audiophile (like I am, only purchased this model as it is not the primary receiver - have a Denon for the home theatre which is great) this would not be the receiver for you.

Dollar for dollar - a good deal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm completely satisfied with my 20-year old sound system which includes 3.5' speaker cabinets with 15' woofers, mids & horns. Frequency response is end to end. I didn't want to buy some 40,000 amp HD audio for mega bucks when what I've git is quite pleasing. Therefore I'm grateful to Sony and Best Buy for providing this legacy equipment that fits legacy systems. The amp sounds very good. I would have preferred rotary knobs for bass, treble and balance instead of the four buttons for treble and bass. A phonograph input is glaringly missing, especially with the return of vinyl platters. But dollar for dollar, it's money well spent.

Decent receiver, but overkill for playing records
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really only needed a receiver for music sources, but this unit is optimized for audiovisual use. Not a problem, except it doesn’t have a dedicated phono input. I wonder if I’m missing something because of this?

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver to replace an old Kenwood model. The new receiver runs my KLH CB10 speakers perfectly. I am very pleased with the sound. Set-up was easy.

Good sound. Great faith in SONY receivers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SONY receiver has certainly given me much listening pleasure. I haven't put it to long term listening endurance testing but I have had many SONY receivers and I have great faith in this one. Once, when I set up a cheap CD player to it the receiver went silent and flashed a message (don't recall the exact word) that I had seen other SONY receivers use before shutting down. No problem. I let some time pass and connected it to a different source and we're rolling again. Again, not put it through endurance or other extreme conditions but I'm a believer and the three years additional warranty make it all OK. Good quality. Super deal.

Good receiver, but doesn't stay turned on.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver would be better if it stayed turned on all the time like my other Sony receiver. This one, I have to keep turning it back on after a few hours.

Good reasonably priced 2 channel receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My faithful receiver from the 1970's finally lost the right channel completely, and I needed to find a replacement. The Sony receiver had everything that I needed and nothing that I did not need or want to pay for. I have had the unit for a month now and am very satisfied with it.
