He said this about the TV: I've had this TV for about a month now and love it. It works well, very seamless and streamlined. It switches from apps quickly (Google Play Movies, to Netflix, to Hulu) and to traditional, physical inputs without skipping a beat. My only complaint is when integrating with my Google Home/Nest system, the TV won't turn on with voice command -- only off. Very SLIGHT inconvenience (How dare I actually have to use a remote!). Great picture quality. Mounted quickly and easy with my existing TV mount onto the wall. Great quality overall! Fast, beautiful and easy to use.

49" version is the poor stepchild for this model

I'll keep it but the next purchase will be surely better researched. For starters, the build on my 49" version is poor. No one has the 49" on the showroom floor so take note: The larger versions have nice unibody rounded corners on the bezel but this one has separate pieces joined together like a cheap picture frame. (see comparison picture) Picture quality is lovely - not disappointed there which is the only reason I'm keeping it. Other than that it's just not good. Android "Smart" TV menu is a mess. Remote feels cheap and disorganized. Sound is poor - you will need a soundbar. I got the Sony HTG700. Sounds good but its menus/settings/remote are also klunky as heck. Don't follow your Sony brand loyalty anymore. They're not earning it with this thing.

Best decision ever. LOVE this "monitor" and with all the streaming apps it can double as a TV when needed. Smooth brightness - no gray splotches. Crystal clear images. Crisp text. 49" perfect for video editing and multi-tasking. PC games look AMAZING!

The picture is very sharp and the screen is very viewable from most any angle. The built in speakers do very well in small and medium rooms with a live sound to it. Set up is a breeze also. Ive had it mounted on a wall wich it is certainly sturdy enough for, and currently just use the included feet which it sits on very securely. If i had any niggles about it i would say it catches glare pretty easily. Aside from that i have no major gripes with it.

Great TV for a bedroom

It was easy to setup. The picture is bright and vibrant with amazing clarity. The sound was so so. I added a Sony 3.1 Atmos sound bar that was on sale at Best Buy and that did the trick. It automatically set up the system for Apple TV. I turn on the Apple TV and the TV and sound bar come on with it with the right settings. Piece of cake. Love it. I’ve only had the TV for about a month now but I am very happy with the TV so far. I paid a little extra for the Sony brand because of their history of great reliability.

Looking at reviews and a couple trips to Best Buy to check them out. I was set on a different brand but kept coming back to this one and trying to justify the price. I took the plunge and have no regrets. Great picture, even right out of the box, not much to adjust. The 49" lacks a few features of the larger ones like wider viewing angle, but where it is located it is not a problem. It was suppose to go in the office, but my wife thought different. It is in the master bedroom.

We wanted an OLED 55" like we had just purchased, however space limitations (cabinet size) precluded its purchase. This was the best alternative with a very good picture and the same controller as the OLED master series. We have had ALL SONY'S for over 35 years and have never been disappointed. Only replaced the last two as we were starting to have trouble with the 13+ year old unit that the OLED was the replacement for. They ALL have been excellent sets and we expect the same quality from these two.

They don't make a lot of tvs in this size anymore and this is a standout. The 49 inch does not have the coating for glare so black levels are even better. Sound is surprisingly good cinsudering the size. Colors pop off the screen and the hdr is fantastic.

The colors aren’t overly exaggerated and no weird glitches with fast movement. It gives a really clear look . It’s great with old black and white movies and cartoons . Also it’s easy to setup and use. I don’t have any problems playing my PS4 or Nintendo Switch. I have to say it connected to my 4k player quickly .

I purchased a Samsung HD at the same time and there is no comparison. Primarily, this set is viewable from all angles. While the Samsung is a great picture, the Sony has it beat on depth of color and richness of picture. I am using it through a surround sound system so I cannot review the sound quality of the internal speakers. Also, I am using an external source for internet viewing so I cannot evaluate the ease or functionality of the apps on the TV. It is easy to set up and has the famous Sony picture quality. Shortly after purchase there was a price drop on the TV--Best Buy makes it extremely difficult to get a reduction in price within the allotted period of price match after purchase. I learned a valuable lesson: utilizing BestBuy internet site will yield no way to get in touch with them to resolve this issue and calling the store where I purchased the TV is also an impossible way to resolve matching the price...so, Caveat Emptor---let the buyer beware that if the sales person says to you that you have a price guarantee if the price drops...good luck in getting that to happen. From this point forward I will stick with Crutchfield--excellent customer service and the same price as BestBuy...and, they get the product to you quicker,...I had to wait for over a week to get the TV...Crutchfield would get it to me in two days...I was a fool on this one...so much for trying to support a local store.

This Tv is easy to set up and the 4K, refresh rate, etc gives it a beautiful picture. It is more expensive than other similarly sized 49” 4K smart TVs, but you will get what you pay for. Sony products are reliable and won’t fail within a year or two of owning —for that it’s worth a little more in my book!

However, we have another one just like it that is 10 years old and still operating. Consequently, I hope for the same dependability with the new television. Image is clear and sharp. The only objection I have is the switch from mounting the TV on a center console to goofy "legs" on either side.

I replaced it with this model and it's such a significant upgrade.... so much easier to access a huge array of apps (although you still have to be somewhat tech savvy.) I highly recommend it!!

The interface is OK, but lacks iOS support as other brands. Audio is pretty good and also added a Sonos soundbar which makes it terrific. All in all I am satisfied with purchase although I could have saved a few hundred with and alternative.

Best Buy is the Best!

I called Sharp and they said it was to old to fix and suggested unplugging it to see if its computer would reset. It did not so my first thought was Best Buy after an hour of research. The salesperson was great as he listened to my requirements then showed me 2-3 brands pointing out their features. At that time we settled n the 49" Sony thanks to his recommendations. After our decision, our TV started working again so we cancelled the order. Then, 3-months later, our TV failed again. So after additional research, we went back to Best Buy. This time we had a different salesperson and he showed us 2-3 brands, features, etc., and came to the same conclusion as our first salesperson. Having 2 different salespersons saying the same thing sealed the deal. The Geek Squad did a great job installing and setting up the new Sony and we highly recommend Best Buy - they are professional-not pushy-and always go the extra mile.
