TLDR: This TV blows most out of the water for 1080 image, but if you want it for 3D or gaming, look elsewhere. pros: - amazing image clarity - good color -great contrast - low blur even with all smoothing turned off - great 24p judder-free bluray image - thin bezel around screen looks good - classy and modern Cons: - unacceptable input lag (around 37 ms). I play a lot of fps on a PS4, and input lag, while lower than many TV's, is too high for me. Not a deal breaker since my PS4 will be hooked to a different TV anyway. - some clouding on all black screens (common with edge lit LED, which this is) - sound is not great, (but if you use a soundbar or home theater system this won't be an issue) - 3D is awful. I mean, unwatchable. First, it's not a true HD image in 3D. It's only 540p, meaning only every other line of the image is shown. As another reviewer mentioned, you can see jagged lines at times due to the low resolution. My old TV is a 42" Panasonic plasma 3D (TC-P42ST30), so I'm familiar with active 3D tech. The Sony's 3d has great depth, but there was a lot of judder, blurring, and crosstalk during action scenes. I'll be returning my 3D glasses, since I'll never use them with this TV again.

I decided to write my first ever review for this tv. This tv is fabulous. We originally got an LG but returned it a day later in order to get this Sony. Picture quality is outstanding and it also has 3D which I've tried and must say pretty impressive. Just need to buy 3D glasses - we got the Samsung ones and they work great. This tv also has some cool features such as android TV and PlayStation now which I think sets it apart from other Tvs. The screen is also less than an inch thick! Overall 5 star

I watch my blu ray movies and play ps3 video games in this tv in my room and the picture quality looks great (just not as great as my samsung tv). 3D feature looks weird. I've seen 3 movies that have some blurry scenes in them (predator, the hobbit and both new star trek) From time to time, the netflix apps or amazon prime app close on its own while I browse for my movie. not a lot of useful apps( a huge bunch of not so useful apps) Sound is better than other other tv even if you do not have a sound bar or an exterior speaker. User Friendly like when to scan for TV channels when using regular antenna. all in all great picture, good quality sound, need to have better quality apps(like sling tv, hbo go, espn etc) PS~ I paid $1000 for this product. should have waited for the price to come down after couple of months or should have just got a samsung 4k instead.

I purchased this TV after visiting my Mother. She has a small 27" Bravia that I believe she purchased when the Flat TV craze started (she's 92). I just had a Sharp Aquos install in her home so she could enjoy Netflix. I wandered into her bedroom to see this gorgeous picture on what I knew was a 1st generation Flat. The picture quality was far better on her Bravia than the new Aquos I had purchased. So, I had to get one. I am EXTREMELY happy not only with the picture quality, OUTSTANDING (and that's with a digital Antenna - not cable). The Reception is excellent - again, this on an Antenna. It'll be a long time before I get a 4K - no need. The apps fabulous: Amazon, Netflix, TED, Huff Post (and many more I don't use); Apple TV installed and running with no problems. I love the Daydream Mode - Google Cast pictures - beautiful. I have nothing but good to say. Thank You SONY!

I got this TV almost 2 weeks ago and I have to say picture quality is great! it's very close to real. Also it is a good looking TV. I think It's very fitted for Small or Medium size living room. Sound is good but not strong as should be..When I watch movie I see an issue with brightness Auto-adjustment.! Brightness keep changing when scene is going to be dark, and this change is very noticeable!! I don't know how can I stop this and it's annoying! Overall I believe it's a good quality TV from Sony.

Just purchased the 50m in tv. Easy to setup, picture is great, 10 times better than my other hd, whose name i will not mention (Visio, which developed problems after the first year, swore I would never buy another one). Sound is great once you configure it. I did get the 5 year warranty plan, just in case. Right now I love it, pic is as good as those 4k tv's. Oh and watching sports, WOW!!

I just lifted my 250 lb 36 inch Sony Trinitron WEGA off its matching stand and replaced it with this modern Sony item. I was worried about sound, and I am very disappointed. The sound appears to be produced by two 10W speakers - the other unnamed brand I was wanting to buy, but was not available, was two 20W speakers. These puny speakers are at 35 or 40 to hear anything and I often have to be at 80 or 90 to listen comfortably - and 100 is the max. Just plan on another investment in a sound bar if you want to enjoy it. But it sits so low on the console that a sound bar will block the bottom of the tv and the remote sensor. I don't know what to do - maybe surround sound system is the way to go. I didn't want to invest this much in my tv viewing. I already miss the sound from the WEGA monster. The tv itself is quite nice though... Good picture, HDMI ports, I have done little adjusting of picture. The browser is not user friendly, but it seems Sony is working on a real browser in an update that can be downloaded when done.

This is a great product with great color and easy to use. The value is really good to.

I purchased two of these TVs, one a 50 and one a 55. The image quality is great for a 1080p TV. But who in the world would make a 3D TV and NOT include a SINGLE pair of 3D GLASSES!? And it's not even necessary to say that they ARE NOT CHEAP. Not to mention the cost of 3D compatible equipment and blu-rays. Even after 7 years these TVs are STILL going strong and running as fast as ever. I honestly can't complain AT ALL. They are perfectly matched with the Sony HT-CT380 (50-inch) and HT-CT780 (55-inch)

It is an open box purchased. One of my deciding factors was this TV comes with Amazon prime built in. I am an Amazon Prime member, so it's great to be able to watch Amazon's movies seamlessly. Great picture quality is better than expected. I didn't realize that this is TV has a 3D capability (duh). I like almost everything about this TV accept for some intermittent dimming on some dark scenes.

Happy with my purchase it looks great and the picture is clear and fluid. Also love the inclusion of the Android interface. My only complaint is that I'm finding it hard to find 3d glasses that work with the unit. Extra annoying was that the salesman said the tv came with a pair of glasses which I later found wasn't true. If I can find some glasses I'll certainly be a happy customer.

As an owner of previous 40" Bravia for the past 5 years and very pleased I was looking forward to getting something slightly larger, slimmer and Smart. I was between this TV and some decent 4K TV's for about $150 more. After bringing this TV home, almost from the get-go I knew it wasn't the one for me. First off the TV is very flimsy, it's great that it's thin but it doesn't feel well built. Second, the quality of the picture just wasn't too great, in fact I felt it had worse quality in displaying 1080 content even compared to my 5 year old Bravia. I returned this TV after a day and instead got a UHD Samsung 48" JU6500 and it is like night and day. I wasn't sure if 4K TV's were worth it yet but let me tell you I wouldn't go back to buying a 1080P TV anymore. The Samsung does a really nice job of upscaling 1080 content, and native 4K content looks amazing. So think twice about a 1080p Bravia, just doesn't seem worth the high cost of the TV, especially since you don't really need the 3D anyways.

I Love this tv great picture sound and quality. Thanks to geek squad in northeaat they put their thing down when installing, showed me the ropes in how to work it. They get an A+ in my book. I haven't had any trouble and it looks good on my stand and I have got a lot of complaints.

Great Picture and fairly good sound, but was disappointed that this Sony 3D TV did NOT come with any 3D Glasses. I went back to buy some from Best Buy and found out that they are not available now and they could not tell me when they would be available. So, I can not rate the 3D performance yet. I did find a pair on AMAZON that claim to work with this TV, so I ordered a pair, (not Sony brand). We'll see.

This Sony TV is a steal for the price. It has everything you could ask for and more. It's a steal for the price. I couldn't be more astonished.
