Overall this is a fantastic tv with great picture quality. At this size 1080p content can start to look less than stellar, but the Sony handles it well, especially if paired with their flagship blu-ray player. Bravia sync enabled, which is nice since this is currently paired with a sony blu ray player and sound bar system. I can turn on my PS4 or blu-ray player and bravia sync turns on the tv and soundbar and switches to the correct input. It cuts down on remote juggling which is nice. Setup is very simple. To get the best image quality you'll want to turn off all of the sets built-in post processing effects (there are a ton of them). This is a pet peeve of mine, I feel that these "class" TV's should come with the appropriate settings out of the box, but that is never the case. Some quick tips. - under screen adjustment make sure you have "full" selected so your source isn't being cropped - turn off motionflow, edge enhancement, black corrector and anything else with similar nomenclature. If you're viewing a pure 1080p source, like blu-ray or a game system, these things will not help you, they will in fact make the image worse. - use color setting warm 2 Ideally you should have a professional calibrate your system, or barring that use a calibration disc, but even following those simple steps will bring your picture much closer to the standard. The point of going through these steps is to ensure that the image you see is as close as possible to what the content creators intended to appear on your screen. It'll take a few minutes to turn off all of the extraneous garbage, but it's worth it. So cons - This set uses an old school led backlight. It's not bad for an edge-lit display, but it's scarcely better than older ccfl backlit tv's. At this size and price range I would have expected local dimming so this is disappointing. Still not a deal breaker, as once the set is properly calibrated contrast is still great. I've noted quite a lot of visible detail in dark/black areas on certain discs that would have been obscured on some of my other sets. Edge lighting tech must be getting better. Aside from that one complaint, which is a small one really and should not deter you for selecting this set, this TV is pretty much perfect. Yes the built-in speakers are sort of bad, but that's like saying they built-in speakers are built-in speakers. They are by definition bad. If you're putting this in a small room, pick up a soundbar, you can't go wrong with one. If you're installing this in a home theater well you probably already know what you're doing. If you plan on purchasing a soundbar, or building a home theater system around this set, take into account the added cost of a sound system as well as all of the HDMI cables you'll need. We tried using cheap cables at first only to have the TV respond with "no signal" on every device we tried to connect. We used better cables and were able to get a signal, but at this point Bravia sync wouldn't work. There was still one cheap cable in the chain so we had to run out to best buy and grab another good one. Now that everything works as advertised we've been putting this TV through it's paces. The Day of the Doctor blu ray looks fantastic on this set in 3d!

    The Best LCD Out There

I just replaced a Sharp Q+ with this TV because it was not good enough. This TV has everything right, the colors are beautiful, the picture is awesome, the resolution is great, even with lower quality materials, and the black levels are the best I have seen on LCDs. Looking for an incredible picture TV with lots of settings, and not ready to go for 4K just yet, then this is the TV for you. Unfortunately the lack of 4K content, 2.0 HDMI, 60 frames per second, and inability to stream UHD are deal killers for currently available UHD TVs that cost a lot more for a technology that is not there yet. I found wiser to invest my money on a new great HDTV instead. When comparing at the store I could not really tell the difference between this TV and a UHD when watching HD content, upscaling can improve a little but doesn't make wonders. Also depending on the viewing distance the difference is negligible.

this tv gets 5 stars from me for picture and size.Lovely picture bright crisp and clear right out of the box, i tweeked some of the settings and was able to get an even better picture tailored to my likings. It has several different scene selections like cinema, sports, animation etc... each with their own numerous settings and different ways to customize the picture and then you can save that setting for that input. If you have other sony products the sync function is neat as the tv automatically recognizes your other devices.I purchased a high speed hdmi and hooked up my bluray player and all the bluray movies i have watched so far have been exceptional bright vivid colors pitch black blacks Prometheus blew me away and Alice in Wonderland 3d really popped. The 120hz refresh rate doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping up with fast action sequences. Also excellent 3d which can also be adjusted depth-wise.wonderful all around picture. My only critisism and its a slight one is on certain scenes you can see the edge lighting on either end of the tv every once in a while. Also the sound is actually pretty decent for a flat tv it gets loud with no distortion but it seems to lack any kind of bass, but not expecting to be blown away by flat tv speakers. The internet functions and apps are acceptable to me although i didn't buy this tv for its internet capability so i can't elaborate on it too much.Overall i think it's a big nice tv with an outstanding picture that wont break the bank like a 4k

After a ton of research, and reading every review ( both by customers and professionals), I decided to take a look at the Sony.............I was truly impressed ..................but the real surprise came when it was in my home..................The picture is remarkable........even better than in the store ( I don't think the cables and hook ups are that good on any TV in the store)........... I was always a big fan of Sony ( my young nephew is still watching my old Trinitron), but I kept an open mind toward other brands.......The Sony beats them, hands down !...........In addition, the sound is quite good on it's own, and I haven't decided if I am adding a soundbar yet.........You will not regret deciding on this set..............close to perfect..............even the setup was easy, and the stand just snapped on and is very solid...Good Job Sony :)

Just got this over the weekend and all I can say is wow! This beast of a TV has gotten even better recently with yet another price drop from its original price tag. This makes the value even better! Everybody has touched on pretty much everything, so I will keep it short and sweet. Colors and black levels are wonderful and PQ is excellent. For a 65inch TV, it has a small footprint and was very easy to setup. If i had to be picky, the speakers are good but not as good as my old 52inch-XBR4, but that's expected since they are downward firing and smaller to keep bezel as small as possible. Also the screen is glossy so there is some reflections but not a problem. Just wish manufactures would keep making matte screens. Pros easily outweighs the Cons and the tradeoffs and sacrifices are well worth it. Simply...Get this TV!

I was excited about this TV to replace my 5 year old 50" plasma. Wow, so disappointed. Screen has a black outline big splotch on white background scenes and a big grey blotch on dark scenes. Even without the splotches the color is not rich, just bright. Have adjusted and calibrated, but the picture quality is just not there. TV is going back and, *&$#@, is all this a big hassle not to mention expensive.
