After comparing several 4K 65inch TV's it came down to the Sony and the Samsung. I have always preferred Sony products, but the Samsung has an excellent picture. After reading all the reviews I could find and seeing real pictures instead of the Store Demos , the Sony won. After having the TV for several weeks I am not disappointed in the awesome picture and the superior sound that comes from the front mounted speakers. This is a pricey set but worth the price in the long run.

I was waiting for the new Sony D series to come out but my old Mitsubishi Diamond 52" decided to gradually stop working. When I saw the 65" 930C at my local Best Buy, not only did I love the picture but I also liked the idea of the side mounted speakers. Their sound allowed me to do away with a sound bar, a subwoofer and all of their wires so the new set up is very clean looking. I looked side by side at the Samsung 9000 series and the LG OLED. To me, the Sony handily beat the Samsung for overall picture and rivaled the deep blacks of the LG. The technology built into the Sony is pretty amazing and I am still learning about its full capabilities. The best part was because I waited so long for the 930D, the price on the 930C was reduced to $2499 which I think is a steal for this much TV. All I added was a Sony Blu-Ray player and I am all set for the foreseeable future. The staff at Best Buy were awesome to deal with and the free delivery service was polite and prompt. Highly recommended Sony TV.

I have been very pleased with this tv that replaced a 6 year old Sony KDL52XBR10. The improvement from 1080p to 4k is noticeable because of the excellent performance of the X930C's upscaler which does very well with non-4k material. Upscaled Blu-ray is the most impressive but the upscaler does a good job even with cable TV signals. I use and like the set's speakers which simulates surround effects surprisingly well and also manages to produce good clarity with dialogue.

Great all around colors. I had TV calibrated after 300 hours of use. I recommend calibration. Please record settings after Geek Squad calibration. Picture quality improved an already great picture. If you want to enjoy Netflix 4K, it would be helpful to use a fiber optic cable for sound over HDMI to a 4K receiver. If you're gonna purchase the new 4K bluray player, make sure the new receiver is compliant with the new HDR.

Best TV I've ever see or owned, and I've owned EVERYTHING. Sound and picture are simply awesome. Only downsides - price, and I'm not a fan of android TV; the usual Sony TV operating system is easier to use.

I had held out from getting a flat screen because I love how sharp sports look on the tube.... I may have been alone with my huge tube but it was great. This new flat screen is good. It deserves the stars with its football mode which seems to help. I fully realize for the price it should be fan freaking tastic, but but it is solid and that is where technology seems to be at right now. I think the market as a couple of competitors that are close and cost less but hang out for a deal or price drop with new models. I suggest seeing it in person to check if it is the right fit for your taste.

Bought this tv due to it being open box in the store. Super glad I did! The picture is amazing and the standard sound is really really good. We have surround sound but never really use it unless we are watching movies. You will not be disappointed with the quality of sound/picture of this tv. I would definitely recommend purchasing this tv.

I shopped for a new TV for several months and decided on the Sony, without seeing it in person. This is something I never do, but because of my past experiences with Sony, I decided to take a chance. The sound is amazing. I have not hooked up my surround yet, but the speakers on this TV have to be the best, at least near this price point. The picture is so clear, I can't imagine advancements above this. The connectivity and apps have been incredible as well. Pleanty of inputs and outputs as well as bluetooth and wifi/wif direct. The TV comes with 2 remotes, 1 of which is a touchpad that has a microphone for google searches. I am truly blown aware by the quality and features of this TV. It is a bit pricey, but I do not regret the purchase and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone in the market.

I had a Samsung Plasma that was only 2 years old when it would not turn on one day. Geek squad came out and tried to fix it but they said it was a board that was not available any longer. Gave me full credit for purchase price, very nice. I choose this Tv because of the good reviews, my salesperson recommended it, and I was told it would give me a picture that was close to my plasma I had before. Love the Picture and sound and am very happy with it. only cost me $100 more than my plasma and this one is 4k

Beautiful Screen - I've hit some bugs

The screen is great, sound is awesome. I've heard people complain about the android OS on it, but i have no issues with it, and its been responsive. My issues, 3d glasses that came with it are awful.. I tried watching a movie I lasted about 5 minutes. In a 3d movie blu-ray played from PS4 there was a lot of flickering, the Active3D kind of phases in and out and very annoying. I ended up watching the movie w/o the 3d capability. I also had a period where the sound was working fine but lost picture entirely from the cable box. PS4 worked fine and various other functions but as soon as I went back to cable box I had no video. I ended up unplugging the TV power from the wall and plug it back in to resolve it. I love the ability to use chromecast w/o the dongle, it works great to put up photos/videos from my desktop, or phone. The search bar for youtube accepts voice but I've never had it work at all, I end up typing.. maybe I missed a step in setup but I have not investigated that problem.

My return to SONY after 37-years of marriage to the same wonderful woman is worthy of celebration. Though I did make the upgrade to the XBR65X930C after returning my XBR65X900C (border light issue) I am ecstatic with the user friendly features and the 4k picture which makes the images pop and come alive before my eyes. I feel at home with Sony once again! PS... someone stole by 1st SONY 35-yrs ago.

This is replacing my Sony XBR-55X900A purchased just a couple years ago. Before the 55" was moved to another room, we did a side-by-side comparison using a 4K video of Costa Rica and I was stunned at how much better the 930C looked. I expected better contrast & color, but the resolution enhancement was the big surprise - especially since the smaller TV should look sharper by its nature. A sloth appears in the 4K video a few times and its hair / coat looked almost blurry on the "old" tv compared to almost being able to see each hair on the 930C.

I love this TV! My only concern was the image quality compared to Samsung, but if you just increase the brightness in settings instead of the standard settings then it's exactly like the samsung. The sound quality of this tv is just astronishing!

I purchased this TV with the appropriate Monster HDMI cables and a Sony 3D DVD player. It came with two sets of 3d glasses. They guy assisting me at Best Buy was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I got the TV on sale for $2800. To me, this appeared to be a steal deal for an XBR. It was easy to set up. The TV is very clear and crisp especially on 4K programs. The blacks are definitely black and the TV allows for detail to be seen in very dark areas of the screen that my other TVs do not. The colors are outstanding espcially red, purple, green, yellow anf orange. HD programs are also very detailed. There is a bigger different with the clarity of SD; however, getting the appropriate cords helps. The sound from the TV speakers is the best I have heard out of a TV. It can give a full range of sound. Naturally, a good sound bar and stereo system is much better, but I think the sound is better than a low end or mid range sound bar. It comes with 2 remotes, so a person can decide if it likes the traditional remote or the mouse style remote. I read complaints on the mouse style remote, but I have found I prefer it. It is easy to use and handle. Also, it has a button for voice commands that is fun to play with and cuts down on the remote control "typing." It doesn't work in all programs like setting up accounts, but it works with many items like YouTube. The TV is bluetooth and it also is easy to use with a smart phone, tablet, computer, and stereo. It is nice not to have cords for my surround sound and it maintains connections very well. I was the most worried about the 3D as there are many conflicting reviews. Here is my take. A 65" is a smaller screen so it will not pop out right in front of your nose like in a movie theater, so if that is your expectation, a full wall screen and projector may be what you want to invest in. As for the TV, I have watched streaming with VUDU and on bluray. Both gave outstanding depth and 3D visuals. I have yet to notice any ghosting and it appears the newer 3D technology has really improved. I am impressed on the maintained clarity and detail the TV provided with this feature. Overall, I am extremely impressed by the TV. I have yet to find much that I think could be better. I am still finding more bells and whistles to play with and am very satisfied.

This was a replacement TV for the Sony XBR-65X900C. We were skeptical that the picture on this one would not be as good as the one we had before but we have been very much surprised. It has exceeded our expectations in every way. We run the sound through an outside receiver most of the time, but the only thing we lose by using the TV speakers is a full bass response. Very happy with the purchase and the way Best Buy worked with us on getting everything changed out.

Pros: 4k picture fantastic, 1080 to 4k upscaling great, blu ray upscaling great Cons: Remote needs shortcut buttons, to get best picture quality have to change settings during shows, doesn't play well with direct tv dolby Sony has a rep as one of the best tv's at upscaling content and since there still isn't alot of 4k sources this was important to me. I am thrilled at how well it upscales 1080 and blu ray sources. It's not as good at upscaling from sd quality. I had a 1080 set in one room showing Seinfeld and it looks a little hazy in 1080 so I checked the same channel on this tv and found that while it was better it still had a hazy quality about it. Since getting this TV I have watched World War Z and Wrath of Kahn on blu ray both looked great. The upscaling really added to the picture quality. Both movies had no trouble with action scenes, no motion blur or judder. On the set top box I watched parts of Guardians of the Galaxy, Winter Soldier, Hobbit and Gravity. These also upscaled great. However winter soldier had judder and soap opera effect until I played with the settings. The colors were amazing in Guardians but again i had to play with the settings to make the colors pop. The high dynamic range is a great feature depending upon the source material . Some shows it helped making out the contrasts between the deep blacks and the bright lights. Again it takes playing with the settings to get the best out of this feature. Sometimes I was watching a dark indoor sequence and couldn't make out what was going on until I played with the settings to get better contrast. On the news of all places the brightness works so well it made the anchors lipstick actually glisten. I hope the upcoming HDR Firmware upgrade Sony promised will improve this already great feature. Trilumos colors. The TV has around 12 picture modes to choose from. On many of these setting the brightness was too low for my taste making the colors seem darker or dull. On other settings the brightness was too high washing out the colors. Going into advanced setting I was able to get the colors the way I like it. In Guardians o the Galaxy, between the colorful aliens, spaceships and other effects the colors got a real work out and got to shine. 3D is not a big feature for us. We don't have a 3d player so used some apps in app store to test out. The hardest part was finding a quality 3d video to stream. After several attempts we found a short clip that did an impressive job. All the clips were very short so it is tough to rate this feature. Tried using cellphone an tablet as remote control and tv guide both features worked fine but prefer use of actual remote. As for the remotes they are a weak point. There is a one flick remote for use with the smart tv features and app store. It feels cheap and since those are features I don't use much I don't have much use for that remote. The primary remote sometimes is sluggish and other times works fine. It is easy to use. I would have liked if I could program some of the buttons for short cuts but was unable to do so. I mentioned there are many picture modes. I also mentioned that I would have to change settings depending upon what I was watching. To change settings I have to press the action menu then press the down button 3-4 times to get to picture modes then I have to press down/up to 12 times to find the mode that fits the show I am watching. That is way too much pressing. There should be one button to scroll through those modes. In regards to the modes I like the vivid and standard mode the best. I still sometimes have to go into advance picture settings to do tweaks sometimes to color vividness which has multiple settings other times to modify motion scenes. Just wish there was a better way. I hope someones posts some good calibrations to modify these settings or I might have to break down and hire someone to set up two or three custom calibrations. I mentioned above it doesn't play well with Direct tv. To be specific I had horrible problems with the audio not lip syncing with the picture. It was like watching a poorly dubbed movie from the 70s. I called Sony they blamed direct tv. I called Direct tv, they sent a tech who replaced an older set top box with a new one, that helped but didn't fix the problem. The tech then disabled directs Dolby feature then the lips synced up. This was not a great solution because without dolby I couldn't try out the tv s surround feature to simulate surround sound. Long story short I am now using an optical cable for sound and an HDMI for picture. So far it seems to be working. The speakers have great sound quality and lots of features. I was happy to see that Sony Bravia Sync worked with my samsung blu ray player/AV. The HDMI/ARC recognized the blu ray and speakers and worked without problems. Setting up the entire TV was a breeze and I have had a software update adding netflix that works great. One other minor irritation is that while the TV comes with a few manuals, none of them explain the tv's many many features. When I flip through the picture adjustment or audio adjustment features there are dozens upon dozens of options to choose from. Sometimes when you highlight one a one or two sentence pops up but sometimes using jargon like judder. Trial and error can be time consuming with these features. It would have been nice to have a book that explained them all. I have talked to some reps by phone who do explain the features but sometimes they put me on hold so they can figure out what they do.
