Great TV - Nice use of Android

To accurately review this product, I first want to talk about the Samsung 65JS9000 I originally purchased. Please bear with me as this will help you understand and appreciate the Sony 65X930C.
I had the opportunity to test drive the JS9000 for a few weeks, but I soon ordered a Sony 65X930C to replace it. The Samsung did some things extremelly well, but lagged at most. In my opinion the Sony blows away the Samsung in upscaling. The Samsung had a problem with 'over processing' resolutions below 1080p. Everything had the Soap Opera effect and appeared as if it wasn't real. It looked like it was shot on blue screen and they did a bad job applying the background (it's a little hard to describe in words what I was seeing). It also appeared the octacore-processor couldn't keep up at times. Sometimes I'd get judder (the type everyone sees, but it's not the signal and you can't recreate it by replaying the scene).
I applied Samsung setting recommendations from anywhere I could find them - Cinama mode, Warm 2, turned all the features off, etc. I also had a lot of light leakage or flash lighting (especially from the left corner to about 11 inches toward the center, but also from 4 or 5 other places as well). With the right 4k signal it looked great, phenomenal, but I couldn't just watch the same 4K nature documentary all day to be wowed by the TV. I've also never had a TV that needed such radical adjusting from show to show, cable input to Blu-Ray input, and even one 4K Netflix Show to another (House of Cards to Marco Polo). The worst part was that for most things my old 52" XBR3 looked better (I had the XBR3 running component cable and the Samsung running HDMI (one below the other) displaying the same cable shows).
The Sony arrived and I was immediately wowed by the Triluminous colors, they popped the way I wished the Samsung did. I had wanted the Samsung to work - it fit perfect into my space, and this Sony is giving my wife a little grief because of its footprint. I researched the heck out of the Samsung and I thought it was the TV for me, but I was wrong.
The Sony upscales extremelly well - everything looks great. The sound is excellent and I just paired it with the wireless SWF-BR100 subwoofer, and I get excellent sound without cranking on/up the Home Theater Receiver (something in my Yamaha home theater scares my old dog - no problems with the SWFBR100 subwoofer). The speakers may not be for everyone, and they really increase the TVs footprint. This said, the set Brings 6 speakers, pushing 90 watts - impressive for a TV. The 4K on Netflix and YouTube looks fantastic on the Sony - no 4K App for Amazon yet, but it's coming soon.
The 2015 Sony's use the latest AC wireless adapter, so you get incredible download speeds if your Internet can handle it. My iPad Air 2 uses an AC adapter and I download at 179 Mbps with the Comcast Blast Service (measuring with Ookla). I can't tell what the TV is downloading at, but I can tell you that I can't tell any difference using a hard wired connection (hard to believe - I was prepared to run Cat 6 through my crown molding, but I don't see the need). If you check the specs you'll see Sony's flagship, the 2014 950B, only uses the wireless N protoco to connect wirelessly.
What I've found is all the high end TVs have picture enhancement features that for the most part don't help Picture Quality (PQ). The difference with Sony is these setting actually do what their supposed to do. The PQ of this set is amazing and I am impressed every time I sit down and watch.
This picture is incredibly bright and vibrant. The U.S. Open golf tournament looked amazing. The course was accurately displayed as a dry and brown course, but the colors on the golfers clothes just popped and the sky was a deep blue. Very accurate color representation. I used color blocks on a USB stick to measure color uniformity, light bleed, and clouding. The results were amazing - I don't know if every set performs this well, but I certainly got a good one.
I also have information from an individual with contacts at Sony, and I've heard the Software update (Android TV software) in July will bring the Amazon 4K app, Picture In Picture (PIP), and a browser. Several other new features are coming this summer including HDR (High Dynamic Range) support. HDR is a future format that will bring a new color spectrum to 4K television - the new Blu-Ray players released at the end of this year will support this format. The point is, this TV is 'future proofed'.
I love this new Sony TV. Everybody's experience is different, and this was just mine.
I hope you find this review helpfull

Sony did it again, great product! I have DirecTV 4K, so I definitely make a difference on everyday television. This product leaves not doubt why Sony is the leader on 4K.

Great pictures and sounds. Very natural colors. Easy to set and navigate. Great in both dark room and bright setting. No need for speaker bars since there are 2 speakers on both ends. I would recommend to my friends and family members. Using mostly for TV and movies. Excellent after service from Bestbuy. It is little bulky appearance but the quality is excellent.

The clarity, color and sound is great. I bought this 65" to replace a five year old 46" Sony. The older set was great this one is even better. It's amazing how much better even video games are. I am seeing color variations I didn't know existed using the older set. Can't beat a Sony!

granted my comparison is with the equivalent projection tv by Sony, this tv is one fine TV. 4K, clear and bright - more so than its outdated predecessor from over 10 years ago. I'm so glad I updated to this tv. 3D is nice too, glasses are active but light (the ones that need batteries). 2 glasses are included. The over all black smooth front is very elegant. The only complaint is the tv isn't super loud when you turn it up - but then again, older ears may be to blame on that end.

replaced an older Samsung PN8000 series plasma with an incredible picture. I am extremely impressed with the 930's picture quality, 4k material through 4k blu ray and streaming 4k is brilliant and crystal
clear. I upscale 1080p through pioneer elite receiver and xfinity cable
looks great.

Bought this to go in our living room over the fireplace and didn't want to hook up a sound system and clutter up the living area with additional speakers and wires. And this TV delivers well worth the extra expense to get the built in sound bars. Image is also fantastic and watching HD broadcasts such as football games and movies is awesome. My only knock against it is the menus for programming and setting up the WiFi, as an example if I lose WiFi connection (which has happened on a few occasions) when I go it to reestablish a connection the keyboard doesn't come up for me to type in the WiFi password. Being a Apple lover I blame this on the Android software Sony chose to use. Though I'm sure some of you technical guys could easily point out that it's user error, which I'll concede is likely true. However it should be more intuitive and I've found it easier to just kill the breaker to the TV (Since I can't get to the power plug) and force the TV to reboot.

Very satisfied with our purchase - Good value for the money. We were looking for a large TV to mount on the wall of our new home - it has the speakers built in, so we did not have to purchase a sound bar. The picture quality and sound quality are great.

Unbelievable Viewing Experience

I was fortunate enough to get an open box price for this tv, and I couldn't be happier (knock on wood). I did a lot of research prior to this purchase, as I am the type of person who buys a tv and holds it for 10+ years or until it breaks. And let me tell you, I don't envision on giving up on this baby any time soon. I'm not a fan of the curved tv's, and my only concern was the tv speakers being on the sides. Fortunately, the sound is still fairly remarkable, but does lack in the bass department. When I have the means, I will seriously consider a bose sound system, but in the meantime, these speakers are more than adequate. In fact, they are pretty darn good. Otherwise, the viewing experience is nothing like I've ever seen. It's like the actors are in your living room. If you are sony person which i am, then you will love this tv.
