Great reciever for the money. Sony still makes a great product to this day. I wouldn't recommend this over a magnolia SKU but this is the best reciever that most Best Buys will carry in store. If you're lucky enough to have a Magnolia I would highly recommend grabbing a Marantz or Yamaha Aventage series.

If you do not need atmos then this is a great choice. Plenty of power and the 5.1 sounds excellent for both movies and cable TV. Plenty of inputs and outputs and ability to send video to multiple zones

Purchased this receiver for outdoor speakers only. After installer ran wires and set the receiver up in my basement, I find out in order to connect to wifi it had to be connected to a TV. Found that as a huge inconvenience. I did connect it and the setup was rather easy. But connection to pandora and spitify is via AirPlay, not direct from receiver. Connection was spotty via Bluetooth. In the end I gave up power and exchanged for the Sons amp.

This receiver has all the functions you will need. The multizone setup is very complicated and required multiple setups. Also, do not try to use the receiver for component or RCA components as it won't pass the video through to your tv. I only recommend this receiver if you need multi-zones

The simplicity to operate this Sony STRDN 1060 is what I like the most. Sound is good and easy to operate. I just don't know how long it would last but overall, not bad at all!

We needed to replace an older Marantz 7.1 system as the new projector we had did 3D and the old system couldn't do pass-though. It works great with the existing wiring and didn't have to change much.

Decent surround sound. Was a little tricky to set up. However once you get it figured out sounds good. If you pick this up on sale its not bad. Very basic remote too.

The unit was simple to install and get setup. The interface (once a tv is hooked up) is intuitive and easy to use. Really like the ability to modify all the input names to fit my actual devices. The ability to use the Songpal app to control the unit remotely is a real plus.

I purchased this to replace an older Yamaha receiver that provided many years of good service. I chose the Sony after comparing its features with comparably priced Yamaha units. The setup was easy and the sound for movies, especially action films, is excellent.

The output on this receiver is very good. It is a bit finicky getting it to stay on the appropriate input. For reasons I don't understand it will switch input sources without the user actually pressing any button. Very frustrating.
I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

This is a great addition to my house. The Wi-Fi capabilities are awesome to use along with the cell phone app. It was easy to set up and was watching TV along with my home theater system within an hour including the running speaker wire.

The Sony STR-DN1160 Receiver comes with a lot features that no one can figure out how to used or accessed. The set up is complex even when teamed with a Sony XBR 850C TV. It plays great in the showroom but not at all in the home. The receiver comes with no detailed manual and the Sony tech support is non existent. Unless you are an audio expert I would avoid this item. The only reason not return to the store a friend who is an audio specialist was able to figure it out after several hours. If you do not need the zone feature then I would consider the 760 or 860 model.

replaced an older Sony receiver that had become faulty with this one. I am glad I did as there is a far greater improved quality and functionality. I have no regrets.

I have had a few different Sony receivers in the past few years as my old equipment broke, or it was simply time to upgrade. I had a choice of different models, and manufacturers but I chose this because of airplay, chromecast, DLNA, video content, and the sound processing. What I actually use more than all of those is the bluetooth transmitter. There is nothing worse than having to watch a great movie with all kinds of special effects and sounds only to barely be able to enjoy it because everyone at home is asleep. That's where the bluetooth transmitter comes in handy.
I also really like the picture upscaling. Even though we have HD content, compared to 4k, it is a noticeable difference. There are times when I have some older SD content that gets upscaled and this receiver reduces that noise a lot. It isn't going to be HD quality, much less 4k quality, but it certainly looks a lot better than your garden variety SD.
I also would recommend if you can get banana plugs to do so because this is one of those simple things which can be overlooked and considered irrelevant at first, but then down the road you regret not getting them. I have found the banana plugs made swapping receivers out if God forbid they break such an easy thing to do with banana plugs. Otherwise you're stuck with the thumb screws and blindly trying to tighten the screws enough, etc, etc.
