My last Sony receiver (STR-DB940) was purchased in the year 2000. Needless to say, I had been contemplating an upgrade for many years. There was just no valid reason to, given how well my old Sony performed and how great it stood the test of time. Even with the emergence of HDMI, workarounds with a HDMI switch provided everything I could ever need. So I thought. With the rise of 4K and improved HD surround quality, an upgrade was imminent. When I found this particular model on clearance, it was time to pull the trigger. It opened my eyes into a whole new world of home theatre. This Sony receiver is a beast! Setup is not intuitive, especially when coming from the 2000 era. But with a little research and some patience, it's like falling in love all over again.
