We regret that you needed to find a lighter optical cable to achieve a secure connection. We absolutely understand and respect your decision to maintain privacy and avoid creating a Google account, and we regret that our product design has placed this barrier in front of you. While Sony chooses the Google TV platform to deliver a highly robust smart TV experience (with access to thousands of apps, voice features, and personalized recommendations), we recognize that this integration should not come at the expense of a customer's privacy preferences or their ability to use core TV functions.

To address your immediate need, we want to provide you with the steps to finish the setup without signing in to a Google account:

When you reach the Google login screen during the initial setup, look for an option that says "Set up basic TV", or "Set up without Google account". This option allows you to proceed.

If the TV is currently connected to the internet, you may need to temporarily disconnect your TV from the internet (unplugging the Ethernet cable or disconnecting your Wi-Fi router) before starting the setup.

Once you complete the basic setup, you should be able to:

Connect the TV to your Wi-Fi network.

Use the interior antenna to watch broadcast channels.

Use your HDMI inputs for external devices (Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, cable boxes).

While you will miss out on certain smart features without an account (like personalized recommendations and app downloads), the core TV functionality will be available.

Your point about feeling forced into a monopoly is well taken and is valuable feedback that we will certainly relay to our product development teams.
