    Amazing TV with some annoyances

I have been bugging my wife about getting a 4k since they were available many years ago and this is the one, I love this TV. We have had the TV for about 7 weeks now. The bezels on the TV are thin and the TV just looks very premium to me. Some don't like the legs but once I found a TV stand that it fits on, I think they look very nice. (I also purchased the stand from my local Best Buy - Whalen BBAVC60-MBC - and am extremely happy with it). This TV has Dolby Vision - which all Samsung TVs lack sadly. Viewing angles are great on the 75" TV. One of the Best Buy locations near me has the 75" model of this TV in the same room as TVs that cost twice as much (LG 77" and Samsung 8k). This TV really holds its own. I am a fan of Android TV for the most part as I am part of the Android ecosystem. On this TV, the UI is very snappy and all of the apps I could want are available and work well (NetFlix, Amazon Prime Video, Vimeo, YouTube, Google Music/YouTube Music). The remote is a joy to use. It has a great premium feel. It is big enough not to get lost - but by no means large. The TV gets along fairly well over ARC with my Denon receiver and Samsung UHD Blu Ray player. So now some negatives. I had a bit of a scare as we turned the TV on a week or so ago and green vertical bars were running up and down the screen. I unplugged the TV and they went away. It still has me concerned they could come back and not go away. Some have complained about blooming on this TV due to the low dimming zone count. I suppose on a black background with white text, the letters have more of a "glow" than they should but it doesn't bother me. If someone wasn't telling me this was a defect I wouldn't notice it. The far corners of the screen (like 1" by 1" square) are slightly less lit up than the rest of the screen in some scenes. The Google Assistant sometimes works brilliantly and other times it doesn't. "Hey Google, turn off Family Room TV" currently only works 20% of the time. I wish Sony would have given us more than 16GB of RAM. I haven't run out yet but over time, the OS and apps are probably going to grow to the point where I am going to have to carefully pick and choose. I am not happy about the "Sponsored" row that appears on the home screen courtesy of Google. The story is that Google patched this "Sponsored" row into the Android TV Home as a "pilot" program. Call it whatever sneaky PR term you want, it is 100% advertising and it takes up approximately 20-25% of the Home screen and currently cannot be moved or easily disabled! I'm hoping that Sony will convince Google to stop these shenanigans as they are a black eye on an otherwise excellent product.

This tv is ONLY able to output sound in either dolby digital or digital plus. It cannot output Dolby TrueHD or DTS masterHD without having problems on your audio equipment such as consistent short audio pauses while playing. If you have a dolby Atmos equipment connected to this it won't reach the quality that you would expect from such a great tv. I was better off on my old bravia before this. And also forget about syncing your XBOX one to this TV because it won't sync to its remote control, unlike Samsung TV does, it wont detect your XBOX one, it only sync to PS4s. please fix this

So I got this thinking I would see the same quality as in the store. This was my experience. To view Netflix in 4K: - Must have apple TV in 4K - Must have 4K cable that connects Apple TV to TV - Netflix show must be recorded in 4k otherwise it looks like a cheap TV To view TV in 4k: - Spectrum looked like a normal TV. Despite some shows being recorded in high quality it still looked like a normal $600 TV. I found this underwhelming. * Only Dish satellite will give you real 4K and even then you are limited to only experiencing this on the shows that were recorded in 4k which not many are. DVD, DVD players, cables, all need to be 4k and as much as I loved this TV in the store I ended up returning it. It was too much work to get everything to work and even then many are just not there yet. Great idea for the future. Save your money.

Absolutely phenomenal TV and the best we've had in our 29 year old home. The picture is fantastic, the built in apps function great and the response/speed of the processor are incredible. The only downside is I can't stand motion-flow on Sony TV's and always disable it immediately. But, other than that, this model is wonderful. 75" was the perfect size for our family room and works great for video games, Netflix and sports too!

Great picture while it lasted. The first set was returned after the wifi component failed. I returned the second set after it repeatedly turned off after a short period of operation. Code indicated internal part failures. Think they have work to do on this model.

I am a big basketball fanatic but the picture on a live basketball game looks horrible. On some channels the picture is amazing but for sports it’s not worth the purchase. I returned this tv and purchased the X850G which is amazing.

WOW... for what we paid I have never had this many problems with a new TV. We bought it in Sept. 2019 only 3 months in. The remote can no longer use the google assistant nor does it work with the provider we have any longer. 3 times now the sound has gone out when trying to open a premium app. No problems before but Vudu, Disney, Hulu, etc... NONE of the audio works on them. We have had to reboot the system each time but it doesn't last very long. Every applic. has to be logged in again and again as well. This is just ridiculous.

I bought the TV plus sound bar and rear speakers. It looks great and worked for about an hour, but will just cut out sound altogether. They’ve replace the TV and surround bar, and sent out two sets of techs, and no one could figure it out. They’re only suggestion was to NOT use the smart tv and use a fire stick or Apple TV, aka not a solution. We tried it anyway, and within a day the TV would instead just SHUT OFF altogether with a flashing red light. I’m done with this TV, and said to take the entire set back. I ordered a Samsung set instead (still yet to receive)

Tv stop working and neither Best buy nor Sony helping me. Been without tv for 30 days and was told to wait until Jan 2021 for a part to come in. My Sony tv stop working October 7 2020. How is this fair even when you purchase geek squad protection. So my family and I don't have a tv nor can spend time together watching tv around this holiday season.

This TV is a lemon. There are well-documented issues online with thousands of people having issues with this TV and Sony is dragging their feet with fixing it. This TV is often unusable and we have to watch TV on our much smaller bedroom TV instead of this 75" TV in our living room. I didn't spend over a year designing, planning, and building out a home theater in our new house build to have to watch TV on a different TV in another room. This is unacceptable. I have had this TV for two and a half months at this point in time and deeply regret buying it due to the sound issues. I purchased a 75" Sony x950g on November 18th, 2019. At the time, it was on sale for $2,500, after-tax I spent $2,675. That is a lot of money to spend on a TV which has given me numerous sound issues over the past two and a half months. To add insult to injury, the TV sales price dropped by an additional $500 shortly after I bought it, had I waited until after Black Friday I could have saved an additional $535 with tax. Granted, that isn't Best Buy's fault, it just adds to my frustration with this TV. A few weeks after I purchased the TV we started having intermittent sound issues. The sound would randomly go out when streaming content. It didn't matter whether I was feeding sound through an HDMI cable connected from the eARC HDMI port to my new Onkyo receiver or if we were just using the TV speakers the sound would cut out completely. We could be streaming on one app and the sound would go out, when the TV first started acting up we could sometimes switch from the app we were using to Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix or some other streaming platform and be able to get sound using a different app, other times we could not get sound on any app. Sometimes turning the TV off and back on fixed the issue, but it usually did not. Sometimes an hour later we would have sound and sometimes we just couldn't use the TV for the rest of the night. Whatever you do, don't pause anything you are streaming on any app, as this seems to be a particularly bad trigger for the TV to lose sound. A few nights ago the sound went out and every app I tried launching would load momentarily and then crash. When you pay this much for a TV this is unacceptable. As time has gone on, the sound issues have gotten steadily worse. Now when the sound goes out it goes out for every single app. We are cord cutters, since we stream all content this makes this TV unusable. The sound goes out daily now. It is not a bandwidth issue as I designed and installed a Gigabit home network when we built this house and the TV is directly connected to the cat6 ethernet port I installed behind it expressly for this reason so I would never have to worry about a Wifi router dropping signal or getting bogged down. A Google search on this TV model will bring up thousands of complaints about this very issue. When you speak with Sony they deny the issue exists, one of their offshore customer service agents told me that there is no issue with the TV because Sony engineers have not told him an issue exists. Really? Then why did we call customer support? We have reset the TV numerous times, both by ourselves when trying to diagnose the issue as well as under direction of a Sony customer service rep. A month ago Sony released a software update that was supposed to fix things. They pulled it after a few days before I had time to install it because that update caused additional problems which can be found with a Google search. They just released another software update which we downloaded from their website and installed under Sony's advice. We still have sound issues after updating this app. We have even had Sony customer support log in to our TV remotely to see if they can do anything and they have been unable to fix it. I am very technologically savvy, if I'm having a tech issue then it has to be a major problem for me to take the time to write a review about it. It is too late to return the TV to Best Buy. We are still within our one year warranty period and are trying to get Sony to replace it or refund our money. They say they have to send out a technician to our home now to check on the TV. That is a huge pain in the butt, we have to hope the sound problem surfaces when the tech shows up. If it doesn't happen to show up then we may be stuck with this lemon of a TV. Aside from the sound problems, I love the visually stunning picture quality and processing. I have been a fan of Sony's picture quality and have purchased their TV's for a good 25 years. I believe they have the most visually accurate and best picture quality of any TV brand out there. It is something I have always been willing to pay for in the past, I'm not so sure I will in the future now though due to the sound issues. I could go into great depth about their picture quality and video processing but am going to cut it short because at the end of the day if there is no sound on the TV either through the speakers or through my home theater system then the picture quality sadly does not matter.

I had my heart set on an oled but wanted a big tv. I can’t justify 6000 dollars for a tv. I just got my Sony 75 950g delivered today and WOW!!!!! The colors, the clarity, the contrast. Bars are black I was a little concerned because of certain reviews I had read but had to be a bad panel. This is as close as you can get to oled and less than half the price. Sony’s processing beats all. If your on the fence pull the trigger you won’t regret it.
