Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Alpha a6000's camera quality, ease of use, and compact size, frequently praising its lightweight design. Many also appreciate the camera's features and find it offers good value for the price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and low-light performance and autofocus could be more reliable. The telephoto lens's autofocus functionality has also received some criticism.

This is probably the best camera for its price. Use a good lens and you can't tell a difference between this camera's pictures and professional photos (on social media at least)! Sure, if you blow up these pictures to poster size or billboard size it can't compete with the $5000 camera/lenses, but for Social media/Friends/Family this will do perfectly! My Top 3 lens that I carry with me when I travel: 1. Sigma 16mm F/1.4 Amazing, best IQ. Great for landscape, astrophotography, low light, street photo and architecture. 2. Sony 35mm F/1.8 OSS My all fav versatile lens. This isn't as sharp as the Sigma, but it's pretty darn close. I use this for everything I don't use the Sigma and Sony 55-210mm for: indoors, low light, portraits, occasional street photography if the Sigma doesn't get what I want. It's small so sometimes I just throw it into my backpack and i'm good to go. 3. Sony 55-210mm OSS lens. This is the best telephoto lens for it's price. I can't afford the other telephoto lens in the 200-400mm range (at least $1200!). This is definitely not the greatest telephoto lens in terms of IQ. It does AF fast though. I use this for zoom only (mainly wildlife) or something interesting I need to zoom up close but can't physically get there. I use this lens the least, only for certain occasions where I can't reach the subject. There you have it, the big 3 combo for the a6000 that will literally get you any shot you need possible. I love how small and compact it is and it gives you excellent quality pics. For instance, if I am going to a restaurant for a special occasion with friends I would never bring a massive DSLR with me. However I don't mind bringing the a6000 with the Sony 35mm at all! It just looks like a point and shoot camera that provides professional quality images. Oh yeah, I don't use the kit lens 16-50mm at all since I don't feel like it takes that great of pictures (just okay). So my 5 stars for this product is the overall versatile use of the a6000 camera and not limited to just those two lenses that come with this package.

Sony a6000 Exactly Fit My Use

I recently returned to amateur photography. I searched for a digital camera that wasn't too large but could deliver high quality images. I selected the Sony a6000 and am very glad I did. This camera is small compared to other mirrorless cameras offering similar settings and options. It's light and fits my hand comfortably - exactly what I wanted. The extensive menu of selections and options puts the user in control. But, the camera can take great photos without the user knowing or selecting all the options. In fact, the more advanced options can be "left alone" to simplify using the camera. Initially the menus can appear overwhelming but it's relatively easy to learn the paths to the more common settings. I encourage referencing online resources; there are several excellent videos that saved me a ton of time. The 55-210 mm lens works great - just know it's not a $1500 lens. I have found it can take some very good photos and the a6000's digital zoom adds additional image magnification with good image quality. I won't go into all the specifications - there are many online sources for that. I will say the a6000 meets all my photography needs and then some; I'm still learning and improving my photography skills. In a nutshell: it's a great, affordable camera and a lot of fun to use. Enjoy.

I have always wanted a mirrorless camera when they first came out, but was hesitant about how these camera's perform because I have always used a Nikon DLSR knowing all to well that they perform at their best when used correctly. I finally bit the bullet and spent the $800.00 on this camera. I took it out on a photoshoot two days after I got it. It does very well. The telephoto lens is great as well. I could take multiple shots without losing a shot with continuous shutter speed unlike the DSLR. The pictures are sharp and defined. The thing, I love the most is the weight compared to lunging around a big DSLR. This camera will not replace my Nikon 7100. But I have come to realize that when I fly to a destination, this will definitely be my camera to take because it is light weight and not bulky and that it does fit in a smaller camera bag. The only thing I'm going to replace is the neck or shoulder strap. It is rough on the back of the neck and it doesn't come with a charger. You have to charge the battery in the camera. So I ordered me extra batteries that come with a charger on Amazon.

Great Camera, OK lenses. The camera took a little getting used too since I have full frame NIKON that is heavier then a brick, which I hated lugging around. This one is a feather weight and does what I want albeit the sensor is smaller then a full frame, the image quality is excellent. I'd buy it again, minus the kit lenses which I replaced the shorter zoom with Sony's Carl Zeiss, Varo-Tessar E 4/16-70 ZA OSS, which works with a full frame mirrorless camera E mount, with the added benefits of it being lightweight and does not need coverage out to the edge of the lens (smaller CCD then a full frame) thus the edge sharpness is very good.

I was so mad at how pictures from a recent once in a life-time outing turned out using my Fujifilm XP that I wanted a camera that could capture those moments in crisp detail. The Sony Alpha a6000 can do just that. It's compact and not heavy so I can take it just about anywhere. With the amazing quick focus I can capture everything in vivid detail. It's easy to use and now I'm brushing up on my photography skills to use all the camera's functions!

Not a professional photographer, but I enjoy taking lots of photos and post my favorites on instagram. I always wanted to take macro shots and also be able to take up close photos of animals so I searched for an interchangeable lens camera that wasn't too expensive. I read great reviews about the Sony A6000 and they were all positive. There are a lot more expensive models out there but I just needed a camera that was not too big, but would allow me to switch between a macro lens and a zoom lens, and allow me to learn manual settings as I have been too reliant on auto settings with my RX100. I am so glad I picked the A6000. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to setup the camera and I was all set! Ive been able to take amazing macro shots of flowers and insects (I did buy a separate Sony macro lens for this purpose), and I have been very happy that finally I was able to take very clear photos of hummingbirds in midair, foxes and raccoons on the run using the zoom lens. Switching between lenses is super easy. With an HDMI to micro HDMI cable, I just plug the camera directly to my TV and I can review all my photos on the big screen. once I know which ones I like, I then transfer the photos from the camera to my smartphone which is a breeze with Sony's Imaging Edge Mobile App which uses wifi. Literally you just select the photos, turn on the app and say go. It takes seconds to transfer. Then, I just crop and edit and post to Instagram! Very happy with this camera! I don't know why I waited so long to get one.

I love this camera because it takes fantastic photos and has a lot of options in the settings and menu screens. It's also fast, super fast on the sports setting. I wanted something that was smaller and lighter than my Canon bag, but also a camera that took great photos. This camera fits that need. I am also still playing with it and I think there are a lot of features I haven't uncovered yet. Love the wifi setting. I take photos at family gatherings and share them from my phone immediately. People love that. It was a little pricey, but now I take it everywhere just in case there is a photo opportunity.

I purchase the Sony A-6000 to use as my "instead of using my iPhone camera". It is roughly the same sizes most of the point and shoot cameras, but is as good or better then most of the DSLRs. It has the same sensor as my Nikon D7200, and shoots faster 11 frames per second. Sony makes the sensors for most of the Nikon cameras. I purchased this as an additional camera to add to my list of other cameras. This is my first mirrorless camera. I shoot for stock photo houses. I wanted camera that I would keep with me on a daily routine. The camera performs great. I purchased it with the two kit lenses 16-50 and the 55-210. After trying the camera out this weekend I found both lenses looked pretty sharp viewing it in Lightroom. It is a great package for the money. I got it on sale do for a very good price. The model as been upgraded twice since this came out, but the A6000 had everything that I wanted in a small camera.

I’ve had this camera for a year now. I’m still learning with it but I’ve made huge strides. One year ago I was using a point-and-shoot and a cellphone. I am now shooting images like this using manual controls. I really like the versatility of the 55-210 kit lens but I could pass on the 16-50 kit lens - I was never impressed with the quality of photos it took. This particular shot was with a Samyang 12mm lens that I absolutely love. This is a very powerful camera - if you’re on the fence about getting it...GET IT!

This camera is by far the best purchase I've ever made. Small and easy to hold, and completely functional like DSLRs. I'm not a photographer by any means, but I got the hang of using the camera just by practice. There's are a lot of features which are really nice. My favorite thing right now is doing long exposures and taking photos of the stars! Highly recommend!

Got this for my wife (upcoming Alaska cruise) and she has been obsessed. It is by far better than a typical canon and Nikon dsl. We have experimented with some mountain (blueridge) sessions. It is perfect. I don’t think we will ever stay from the Sony mirrorless brands ever again. Definitely recommend for newbies as we are easily learning. Fantastic. It may be a bigger investment but BUY IT NOW! Do it!

I took the a6000 "home" to Japan for about three weeks, returned a few days ago. It's Cherry Blossom time there. I took about 450 photos, with only one technical flub, auto focus picked the wrong spot. All the rest were excellent, I was averaging 3 to 8 miles per day walking. This camera added no real weight. I used a lot of the advanced features like auto focus and exposure bracket all very successful. In short, this was the perfect camera for the job.

I purchased this on sale - and am glad I did. I was looking for a body to use with a lens set from an older SONY aps-C camera. This is one heck of a little camera. So far, no problems whatsoever. I had heard of light leak problems but have encountered none, mounting the camera on refractor telescopes or using a 500mm ROKINON lens. Yes, it has short battery life, but for the price you can easily grab a few extra batteries.

Hi I’m in love with a camera and it is this one I took a chance and spent the money as a college student and I love every single feature it comes with it even comes with a button that will assist you in knowing it what the heck to do I love the telephoto lens I love the macro lens I am looking forward to purchasing an external flash but the Belton flash is just phenomenal so I can’t even imagine what 70s got in store for an external flash since I’m new to the photography seen but I did have a Canon M 50 and this one trumps it by far
