Customers are impressed with the Alpha a6000's camera quality, ease of use, and compact size, frequently praising its lightweight design. Many also appreciate the camera's features and find it offers good value for the price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and low-light performance and autofocus could be more reliable. The telephoto lens's autofocus functionality has also received some criticism.

Great camera. Takes great pictures. A little confusing for a newbie. So glad it has the automatic feature I can use it on until I figure it out.

It takes really good pictures, but it seems to put a little too much color in them.
For example, grass and plants show up too green and flowers are more colorful than they really are.
my other complaint is the location of the SD card slot. The card is too close to the battery/card door and is hard to grab it to extract it.
Pictures below were taken with camera on the green auto and hand held in my back yard.

So we switched from our old Nikon DSLR camera which we have had for about 5 - 7years. We loved that camera but the shutter spazzed out and got stuck open... cant fix it. So we figured it was time to go get another one. When looking online though and going to a local camera shop, the consensus from everyone was for our needs we should probably be looking at a mirrorless camera. A lot of the issues on the old ones in terms of overall quality and nighttime shooting were resolved in the last few years, and many now perform better than the DSLR ones - at least according to the camera experts we chatted with. Anyway, so we went and checked this one out as it had some of the best overall ratings around. When we got to Best Buy, the guy in the camera department lit up when we started to look at it. He went on and on about the features and how impressive this particular one is. We were sold, literally. To put it in perspective though, we are just an average family with average sports and holidays to take pictures with. We want high quality photos, and we want action shots for the kids sports games. This camera is a complete wizard at getting us terrific photos of those things. It is crazy easy to use, has a built in flash, takes great night time shots, and gets great battery life. The best part for us though, is that it is about half the size and weight of our old Nikon. The reason that is such a big deal for us is that we are instantly more likely to use it or take it with us places because it doesn't have or need a big carrying case, and it isn't obstructive to bring around. We are very very happy with this camera and would highly recommend it.

It worth the price, even though it's a little bit old. the auto focus is still the one of the best in it's class. Unfortunately I had to return it because I really want the 4K video recording. If you are OK with 1080 video and on a budget, it is a solid camera for you.

I was a little nervous transitioning from a DSLR to a mirror-less camera by took the plunge anyway... and I couldn’t be happier. Great colors, great automatic settings, good manual shooting options, and so easy to carry around.

The product I received does not comply with "Open-Box Excellent", because the product has visible signs of use on the camera and 0.25 m lens. what you sent me was an "Open-Box Satisfactory". I want to file a claim for a price adjustment.

First digital camera purchase

I am an amateur photographer. Everything I know of photography comes from studying physics and just self interest of taking pictures for sharing. I do not intend to have photography as more than a hobby in my life.
Phone cameras, for as advanced as they have become, they still do not offer proper f/stop, iso, or shutter speed controls due to obvious hardware limitations. And many times I missed a good picture moment due to digital zoom making the scene a blurry mess. So I gave in to the idea of purchasing a digital camera.
Friends who are professional photographers recommended going straight for a mirrorless camera. One who made part of his career using canon SLR and DSLR cameras, the other nikon DSLRs; both moved on from DSLRs to sony mirrorless. They both convinced me of having not as steep learning curve in handling the camera.
Playing around with other DSLRs and the the sony a6000 in stores, I understood what my friends meant. Auto focus speed is fast and intuitive, iso and shutter speed live preview from OLED view finder made the camera's use very intuitive even for a first timer as me. No surprises of changing settings and then getting a blurrier or darker picture than what the view finder couldn't predict.
This camera is also very light when using the 16-50mm kit lens. Can be easily carried with included strap or conveniently in backpack. Build material is solid.
The included 16-50mm kit lens offers great range for wide angle captures that most other cameras don't offer with 18mm. Colors are always vivid and images sharp thanks to auto focus. Even when using manual focus, the OLED view finder offers zoom to where you desire to aim to achieve accurate preview to and pin point focus adjustments.
55-210mm lens takes excellent long distance captures with solid precision. As expected, it adds weight to the camera, making it less portable. Captures come out great and sharp from long distances, allowing for good range in outdoors, and thanks to the camera's sensor great night time pictures and videos.
This camera doesn't support 4k video capture. However, recording 1080p 60fps videos is easy and intuitive. Also allows other finer adjustments for capture saving, including 24fps for cinematic results.
Camera supports sony's playmemory apps. They can be purchased separately. One of them allows for timelapse capture with excellent presets and customization for all kinds of creative captures.
This is being a great camera for a first timer. Even semi and professional photographer friends have fun with this camera when I present it to them. Preset options, and levels of control allow for my creativity to be unbounded by my phone's camera. My skyline and sunset pictures are better than ever.
More lens can be bought for even greater creative options that may lead to professional routes of photography.
Only negative I have, common to my friends who jumped from DSLRs, is the battery life. It is a result of smaller body, and fact that the image sensor is continuously active due to view finder true preview, versus DSLRs' sensor being active only at shutter action. So far it lasts around 3.5 hours of video capture in 1080p 60fps, or about 400 pictures per charge. Definitely not a deal breaker as I don't use it for more than a day without charging. But I do have to charge it almost every other day. When I do go for a trip, I may buy either extra battery or a high capacity phone charger to charge it on the go.
Charging can be done from USB straight in camera, though slow when connected to a computer. With wall outlet charger, it gets to 100% in about 1 hour or less.
Image sharing can be done from NFC with supported NFC enabled tablets/phones, or local WIFI signal straight from camera, which allows to browse camera's pictures and videos and download straight to phone/tablet using playmemories app. Transfers of 50 pictures take less than 1 minute, no internet or computer required.
Only downside to this excellent and convenient feature is that RAW pictures will be transferred as JPEG, so less options are then given in mobile version of Lightroom style editors.
I am happy my friends recommended such a great camera for first purchase. And by amount of features and compatible lens sony is making, this may be my long term photography tool.

I have been using the Sony Alpha a6000 for the past 3-4 months and I'm completely in love with this small DSLR cam. It is so handy and small and yet gives the clarity and performance of a bigger DSLR cam. The design of the cam is very nice as it fits perfectly in the hand and wouldn't feel the weight for long duration use. Only few issues I have come across are i) You would definitely need at least one spare battery for a complete day of use even for a normal user. ii) Its not the exact one if you are more into video recording. The camera gets heated after about 10mins of video recording and gets off showing the warning message of device over heated. This happened to me a couple of times which i was already aware going through the online reviews of this device before I bought this cam. You will have to wait another 2-3 minutes to reboot the device. But I am into more of clicking than taking lot of videos, so I don't much care about these issues as a beginner. iii) The snap click sound is a bit louder. These are some of the issues I have come across in these 3 months. The stills are super clear and I should admit that this is the best budget camera in the mirrorless camera segment. The camera connectivity to iOS and Android devices are seamless. You can just transfer the photos wirelessly to your mobile device in just a couple of clicks which I like the most. The electronic viewfinder is just wow, you get to see the exact picture color that is been captured. More over the weight and size of the device is the biggest advantage I see over the traditional huge DSLR cams which are very difficult to carry around. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

This camera is small, lightweight, and easy to use. It takes great low-light images. I've gone into caves, hiked mountains, and everywhere in between with this camera, and it shoots high-quality photos quickly and easily. The only annoying thing for me has been the preview screen turning off each time my hand is near it. I tend to shoot with my eye looking through the lense, but when I'm aiming to shoot something afar, and need a steady hand, I like to use the preview screen instead. It doesn't always work consistently. Other than that minor detail, everything else seems perfect.

I bought this with intentions of starting a small photography business. After some serious research on Mirrorless cameras, I decided the Sony-A6000 was for me. It has a TON of options and features I have yet to research. I primarily have tried out the 55-210mm OSS lens that comes with the kit. It has been extremely crisp and fast while shooting action/sports video. Very pleased customer from Park County, Montana!

I have looked at the Sony A6000 several times and finally bought one reluctantly. WOW, was I surprised. It's so small, so light and so good that I will never go back to my big, bulky, HEAVY canon 70D. The pictures are clear, crisp and vividly colorful!!! The viewfinder is small and can provide an overwhelming amount of information. People with big hands may encounter some difficulty using the buttons but I find the light weight and picture quality out weigh these short commings.
