A little overwhelming for this SLR film camera lover when I ventured off Automatic the first day and discovered I need more time with my User Manual. I needed help connecting the camera to WIFI and am gradually and slowly discovering instructions and help aids are EVERYWHERE! Yes, everywhere--in the paper user manual, on youtube, and IN THE CAMERA! It's taking some time, but I'm very hopeful! Not ready for a day shoot yet, but getting there. It's a LOT easier to hold and handle than my first digital camera, a pocket size point and shoot. This is similar to my film SLR and seems to be exactly what I wanted! Just taking a little time to get comfortable.

The ability to shoot in Kelvin, 11 fps, face recognition, smile detect, wi-fi, an many other great features, convinced me that I made a great purchase. I can put this camera in my pocket, and yet, I have the capabilities that a full frame camera has. I have no doubt that this camera is better than the full frames cameras that Costco sales. The only thing I wish it was better quality is the little kit lense.

Finally switched form big hulking DSLR to mirror less. What a relief to my shoulders and neck! The camera's super fast focus, real time viewfinder and amount of control options makes DSLR'S obsolete. Take it for a test drive, your will be pleasantly surprised.

OMG, I love this camera. I love the high burst frames per second. I catch a lot of things in motion. I think my favorite thing about the camera is that I can send pictures directly from my camera to my phone. Great lighting, very compact, with a sleek look! The one complaint I have is the the battery life. It doesn't seem to last long. I have purchased a back up battery.

I'm an amateur photographer and I got the a6000 for taking photos of my boys in football. So I like that fact that it has the fast focus and burst speeds. Unfortunately they did not want to play this year. So I have been taking pics of bird and just playing around with taking portraits some sunsets and night shots of the stars. I'm loving the camera and what it can do and after I learn more on how to use it I'm sure I will love it even more. Here are some pics I took with it

There are way to many small cameras out on the market. They all claim to do this--- do that--- However, this is certainly above it's competition. I have not tested all of its competitors, but I felt this was a good choice for me. Fast. Responsive. Sd Card. Pocket size. and Manual Settings. Great Color. I shoot from weddings to candids. There are some negatives for some of my uses... But overall, this is a winner!

I just purchased Sony - Alpha a6000 and I am so excited to make it my new go to camera. For years I have been using the Sony a300 and I have managed to be able to capture years of beautiful memories with that camera. It is time to move on with my new camera because it is so much lighter, it focuses so incredibly fast and supports a lot more pixels giving you a brighter, sharper photo. There are still many accessories you can purchase to be very creative with this camera. I look forward to gathering more memories and having a lot of fun with a more advanced camera.

It's a very nice little camera! The focus is blazing fast on action shots, the images as sharp as my DSLR or sharper. The lens selection for it are pricey and it doesn't have weather proofing so it has it's downsides. I had NO problems finding menu's and features (coming to it from a Nikon D7100 DSLR, which by the way has the same sensor in it from what I understand). The kit zoom lens is much better than I expected and I have been able to get a little bokeh with it. It does feel a little small and cramped in hand, but nothing as bad as say a Canon SX50 which felt impossible even in my small hand.

I would recommend the a6000 to beginners and to photo enthusiasts alike. It has been used by pros. I have used the SONY a6000 for some hundreds of pics in about 3 weeks since purchasing. During this time, I put aside a Pentax K-5iis and K-3 ii DSLR. It is so good to carry a very capable compact APS-C mirrorless that can take shots to rival any of the enthusiast level APSC DSLRs. The SONY Alpha a6xxx series is highly regarded for capability of making use of Canon lenses using an adapter, though for video purposes, I've read one needs to use the @6300. My Pentax lenses are incompatible and can be attached to be used (with proper adapter) in Manual mode only. It is important to consider there is no touchscreen, the screen is fixed- in-place, there is no in-body image stabilization and video performance ( I do not use for video) will likely not satisfy semi-serious video shooters. Look that up for details . But for the price, I could not resist this. The a6000 overall is excellent. Almost 5 stars, but since it is not top of it's line now, and 2 rs old. But the current high-end a6300 is much more money, perhaps worth it for videographers. The coming a6500 -at nearly 3x price of a6000(!) will include wish list items, chiefly in-body stabilization, touch screen to select focus point, plus better processing power. That is only a wish list item. The a6000 is something to get now, with kit lens OK for true beginner or with a fast prime lens for somewhat more experienced ,or aspire to a whole other high-end top rank (large price and large size) lines of lenses aimed at pros. A good system to buy into, after all. To get best use of this camera, as soon as you are able, do customize function buttons. it will save time looking thru menus. There are 3 customizable modes available in menu, and so, this is one selection choice I've set a button on the body for. I am used to using prime lenses as well and zooms. I have the 2 kit zooms and purchased the E-mount Sony 35mm f/1.8 (stabilised) and a Sigma 60mm f/2.8 (non stabilised). I wanted excellent lenses on a budget and these are amongst those I would recommend. I've set up this and the DSLRs for back-button focus. It is good to use on the a6000 as much as on the DSLRs. Try the camera in-hand; the grip may not fit large guys hands. I find the grip fine, and it is better with the accessory SONY half-body case. Highly recommended for some protection and a better grip with access panel to all compartments. A beginner can certainly use auto mode and the general photo "looks" modes such at B+W, natural (color), sepia, etc. There are NO, pardon my attitude, modes on as on most beginner cams such as "sports", "party" "night", etc. . This is a good thing. View mode can be set to either just the screen, just the EVF (electronic viewfinder) or auto switchable as you put it to your eye the view changes from screen to viewfinder. That was a bit of a problem as the screen would go dark for the viewfinder when I tilted the camera upward to frame a shot. What this camera does, as with other 'mirror-less', you get to see your shot as you go in better, more seamless manner than live-view on DSLRs.

I bought this camera with the intention on using it in South America in a city in Colombia. It was easy to use from the get go. Day time pictures came out excellent with the stock lens. I used it primarily for the intention of shooting photos of the family around scenic areas. With the flash photography, night time pictures weren't an issue. I would recommend looking into more advanced lens if you are more serious about photography though as far away pictures didn't come out as nice as I expected. Still would rate this 5 stars for a beginner/intermediate

I was going to buy a different camera but I saw a review by Gary Fong and I was sold. The Sony a6000 has so many features that I found myself in awe of it but it is not hard to use and there are allot of helpful videos online too.

I absolutely love this camera. I bought this camera right before my honeymoon in Italy, and I took the most amazing pictures with it. It has all of the options you'd want in a DSLR, but with 1/2-2/3 the weight & bulk. It works great if you just throw it in auto and go about snapping pictures of your surroundings. The video quality is also excellent. I'd recommend this to someone wanting to get into photography, but not wanting to carry around a great hulking mass all of the time.

For a long time, I have wanted to get a camera to deliver the results I obtained with the Sony-Alpha. I tried a different brand (more expensive), and I had returned because I felt that the pictures from my camera phone were the same quality. After reading the reviews, I decided to use my Christmas money and go for it! Best thing I've done! I did a photoshoot of my dogs on the first day, and it was so much fun! (See pictures below)
