Bought this to replace a Sony a33 that had finally given up. The choice was between this and the A77. My wife did her homework and decided this was the better, and more cost effective, option. She has used it to take some professional photos and has done nothing but praise this model and her decision. Compared to the price of the a77, this model is definitely worth the money. As with all higher end cameras, this does take some time to get used to all of the features.

I was using a a3000 with a 55mm to 210mm and couldn't find anything to upgrade my lenses. I found a 300mm for the A mount and dicided to just up it all. What a real difference it made in the picture quality and ability to take better pictures. I have been using Sony for a long time and moving forward will continue to. Great camera.

This is the fourth Alpha Camera I've purchased.
The camera is not difficult to set up but the mode selection dial is a repeat of a previous released Sony Cybershot point and Shoot. about 5 or more years ago. You also have to depress a radio button in the top center to adjust the dial. I really don't like that. Once you turn on the camera and look at the LCD you will see the flashing steady shot icon which won't disappear until a higher shutter speed is chosen and I received that information from Sony e-support. Can't turn it off by any switch within the camera.
You can use any a-mount lens from Sony or another brand on this camera but do read the specs before you purchase. I have not used the movie selector. memory cards from previous Alpha release, except the 300, which is a large memory card will work .
Has the ability to look through the electronic view finder and change ISO , white balance without taken eye from vew finder, Also a real neat part has auto eye selector, When you put your eye up to the view finder, the LCD can turn off and when you move your eye, the LCD comes on. Much more to say. 24.4 Megapixels.
Great capabilities with this camera with the right lens and a creative mind

Bought this to upgrade my Sony a33. Very impressed for the price point of this camera. I shoot a lot of sports games and this camera keeps up and doesn’t miss a beat.
