After using the camera at my daughters soccer game I was impressed with the quality and I was able to get every picture that I wanted. They came out clear and I did not miss a shot. Looks like I will be taking pictures for the team now. Thanks Sony and Best buy for a great product!

Great image quality and feature. A very good DSLR for beginner. There is a new model replacing this A-57 which is called A-58 but everybody said this older model is better. It has faster shooting speed and I'm very satisfied with it.

I wanted a DSLR with Live View that I could use at car shows and at the race track. I purchased the Sony Alpha as a replacement for a Canon 60D, based on a recommendation. Although I have not had too much experience with it thus far, the camera seems intuitive enough and easy to use. The glaring problem with the Sony body is where they mounted the hinge for the flip (LCD) screen. The hinge is on the bottom of the chassis, rather than on the side, like the Canon. It makes no sense if you want to hold the camera at various angles. Small trade off for no shutter lag when using "Live View".

I purchased this camera because the A58 came out and had a slower shutter speed. I don't know if I will ever use all the options. I was also looking for a camera that took outstanding video which this one does.

Overall a really nice camera. I was so impressed with especially the color rendition that I bought an a77 from Best Buy. Absolutely love that and the Kit 16-50 f/2.8 lens! Ended up trading in the a57 for a NEX-6 which I love as well. Now have the a77 and NEX-6. Came from Nikon and Canon and am truly enjoying the Sony. The NEX is a delight to use as is the a77. Both with the OLED viewfinders.

I really like my camera, the only thing I do not love about it is the kit lens it came with. A lot of cameras have nicer kit lenses, but I guess I will just have to purchase a new lens in the near future!

I finally decided to kick the film habbit and go digital. This camera is replacing a Minolta Maxxum 7 and I wanted a camera which I could use my Minolta lenses on. I have been very pleased so far! This camera has functioned flawlessly in very difficult low light and various action shots. I have not yet gotten one bad picture shooting in full automatic mode. I normally am a little of a control freek when it comes to photography but this camera has not given me any reason to take it out of it's programmed auto modes. I havent taken much video with it yet as that was not the primary reason I made this purchase, but I did notice that the built in Mic does pic up a little autofocus noise. It should be noted that the video quality was excellant and the camera adapted very quickly to changing focal points. Also I was impressed by the built in flash unit. Flash pics look natural and properly exposed every time, never washing out or looking over exposed. If you are a novice or an experianced hobby photographer you will be completely satsified with this camera.

    Great Camera for the Money

This camera is an upgrade from a Sony SLT-a33. The a33 is a great camera, however, the a-57 overcomes a significant deficiency with the a33. I have been shooting with the a57 for over a month and it has not overheated once. This was a significant frustration with the a33. In addition the a57 uses a larger battery resulting in better battery life. The low light performance of the a57 is also improved over the a33 as well as the shooting rate. I shoot a lot of high school sports and the a57 is amazingly fast for the price point. Overall, I think this is a great enthusiast camera.

    Sony SLT A57 is Amazing!

I sold my Sony SLT A55 to buy this upgrade and the 55 was great as well but the improvements to the 57 we're worth the wait. The 12 FPS is awesome for my daughters sports events and the new Digital Zoom feature which allows you to bring picture 4X closer is crazy good. When i have my 200mm lens on and pull in 4X i'm getting 800mm equivalent. Now i recommend maybe zooming around 2-3X because you will loose some quality with digital Zoom but its nice to have in a pinch. Love the new size of the frame which is identical to the A66-A77. The BIONZ processor is the same as the A66 as well so this thing processes picture super fast. The BATTERY is so great. Now the larger capacity of the A66-A77 so its last through the whole event with no problems. My cousin is selling his Canon SLR to switch over too the A57 because he is so impressed with what you get for the money. He would have to spend close to $2000 to get something that still can't keep up with the speed of the Sony A57.

Great option over Cannon or Nikkon

Where to start. First off, I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm an avid photo taker. I spent at least 6 months trying to decide between a Cannon or Nikkon (any model under $700#. I was set on one of those two for sure...but I stumbled upon the A57, and after trying at BB, I was sold. The camera feels solid in your hard, you can feel the quality, pictures are stunning, can do up to 12 fps, other mostly only do 4, tons of features #both manual and automatic), and plenty of add on accesories if desired. What I like most about this camera is that you have the flexibility of setting your own settings to get the desired picture options or you just click on an auto setting, and snap away. I dont regret getting this over a Cannon or Nikkon....not disapointed. Look into it if you are considering a entry level DSLR...you wont regret it.

I absolutely love this camera. I got it while it was on sale for $719. I also bundled and purchased an extra lens, as well as going for a case and memory card. Altogether, I spent about $1,020 after tax (about $53). I'll start off by saying this camera is very easy to use. It's my first DSLR, and within two minutes, I had it up and was taking pictures. There's a guide built into the camera to help you with landscapes, portraits, basics, and more! It was so easy to use and I learned a lot of things just playing with it in my room for an hour! I had it pretty much down pat. The 14 frames a second was *very* nice, especially since my subjects tend to move a lot. The build was very sturdy (it doesn't feel cheap and flimsy) but at the same time, not overly heavy. I love how the screen comes out and swivels around. This camera did VERY well in low lighting. I was highly impressed! Overall I think it's a great camera, and if faced with this decision again, I'd definitely buy this over the Nikon D5100.

Excellent pictures and movie clips. Solid feel for a plastic camera body. If you are on the fence about purchasing a Sony a57... pull the trigger! Enjoy!. This camera takes awesome, clear, sharp and beautiful stills at 16.1 MP. The shutter speed is fast, press the button and your picture is captured. The A57 takes pictures as fast as you can press the button. Auto-focus mode takes all the guesswork out of shots. Just point and shoot. Manual focus lets you, the photographer set everything from aperture priority to shutter speed, which is perfect when swapping the lens to a manual focus Alpha lens. You can add various effects by simply changing the option wheel on the left side of the camera. Here you can select portrait, sunset or black and white mode among others. There are still many options this camera offers that I have not and/or I don't see the need.
