The Sony ICFC1PJ clock radio is generally well and designed. The unit is very small and takes up little space. I was particularly pleased with the fact that each alarm has its own enable/disable button. Battery back-up power is provided. Set-up is typically somewhat complicated for these devices, but it's not really burdensome for this unit. The primary compliant I have is that the front display has a mirrored finish, which makes it difficult read if the light levels are high in the room (it's only marginally bright enough on high if the room is lit). Sound quality is acceptable, about what one would expect from a tiny, single speaker. I don't plan on using the projection feature, but it appears to function very well. I like the feature that brings on an alarm at a quiet level that then increases in volume over a few seconds.

A year or two ago, I bought another, similarly-priced Sony alarm clock. (I can't remember which model, specifically, but it was black, shaped like a cylinder on its side, and had one alarm on each "drum" end of the cylinder. It also featured an iPod/iPhone dock on top, which, due to my iPod case, I could never use anyway.) That one was never loud enough, even with the volume all the way up, and eventually it stopped waking me up. Don't buy that one. It's a piece of sh... Buy this one instead. The alarms are so simple to set, the display is much brighter and sharper, and the alarm is PLENTY loud enough. Much, much better.

Not sure why, but it seems that AM radio is being phased out of many of the clock radios on the market in favor of FM and iPod tunes...but if you like listening to talk radio when you get up, this could be the radio for you. The numbers are big enough for even myopic folks like me to see, and its easy enough to set and use. Seems like there just aren't that many options in this price range anymore, so its good to know that this one is good.

I am really enjoying this little radio. It is easy to read the time and the function keys are easy to use. It has good sound to be so small and it takes up very little space. I use it in a bathroom with little counter space.

Love this small footprint bedside clock. Particularly the feature that projects the time on the ceiling. No need to turn over in the middle of the night for the time — simply look at the ceiling. For this feature alone I recommend this device.

This is the perfect compact clock/radio with a lot of basic functionality! The ability to dim and project the time on the ceiling is great! The nature sounds are an amazing to wake up to! I highly recommend this product.

Bought this for my dad, so he could see military time. Easy set up, projects the time on the wall clearly. Little pricey, but its a good buy.

Positives: Auto time set. Simply setup the time-zone and time is automatically adjusted. Two alarms. Either can be set for alarm beeping or radio. The beeping is really gentle and subtle when it first goes off and ramps up in volume and obnoxiousness until you hit the large snooze bar. The display has 3 brightness levels, simply tap snooze bar to go from bright, medium, dim and back to bright, etc. Negatives. Backup batters is a CR2032 button battery not a simple 9v battery like most alarm clocks. The alarm beeping is not really loud, so if you use earplugs or are a sound sleeper you will have to use the radio and crank the volume. The dimmest brightness setting (for night/sleeping use) could be dimmer. Mirror like front face is nice but a fingerprint magnet.

This is an amazing clock, its design would fit in most anywhere, and it has a great display of the time. Works well and its user friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone in need of a good alarm clock.

This was an impulse buy because I liked the modern look and the its features. I have to say that I'm extremely happy with this purchase. It has a gradual alarm and adjustable brightness. Overall a great alarm clock.

My former bedside alarm clock had served me pretty well for several years. However, changing to Daylight Savings Time was difficult. My new clock is just what I wanted. It's small in overall size, yet the time is very large. It has the ability to have two alarm sets. I always keep one set at 6 am and I leave the other one open so I can get up earlier if I need to go to the airport or some other event early in the day. It's very reasonably priced. I heartily recommend it.

Really like the time projection view to wall or ceiling. Bought anotherone for my 87 year old mom who likes the projection view as it is large an easy to see at night.

My husband and I bought this since our previous alarm clock died (loud static does not make for a good alarm clock!). So far, the sound on this is great! It also tunes very easily to local radio stations. My husband's favorite feature is the option to display the time on the ceiling. I have to admit, it's cool to just look up and see the time instead of sitting up to look over my sleeping husband. All in all, this is a great little clock and worth the price.

This clock works well, and I like the projection feature. A few things I found wanting: 1) The projection image can only be rotated in 90 degree increments, so I had to choose between having the time be crooked, or physically positioning the clock on my nightstand to position the projection. The dial can be rotated in infinite increments, but if you want the clock facing you, then the projection can only be positioned in a path horizontal with your head. If you angle the clock away to position the projection, the time reads crooked. 2) I would like it if the projection brightness were adjustable. When there is light in the room, the projection is barely visible, if at all. This was a factor in the morning hours waking up and not being able to see the projected time. 3) I like having programmable snooze durations. This clock allows for increments of 10 minutes, by hitting the snooze button more than once. I like this feature, but would prefer to be able to choose other increments. 4) My previous alarm clock had a "nap" feature, which I like and this clock does not have. Overall, I like the clock, and it works well. These are just a few things that my ideal clock would have and this one does not.

I have been looking for an alarm clock to replace my old Sharp that served me well for over 10 years. I was trying to find something with a similar alarm sound - something along the lines of church bells starting out quietly and gradually getting louder. This is not it, but it is the least annoying alarm I could find in this price range. I don't know how to describe it, except to say that it does not sound like a fire alarm, is not excessively loud (at least not by the time I turn it off), and does not make my boyfriend (who gets to sleep later than me) grumpy when it goes off. The alarm starts off pretty quietly, and gradually gets louder. I'm not sure how loud it gets, as I end up turning it off before it reaches its peak I think. It is a sort of beeping, but not too high pitched; not as pleasant as church bells, but not terrible either - I'm happy to give up my search and settle for this clock. Oh, the snooze button is perhaps too easy to find, but I think that is true of any alarm clock except for the one that jumps off your bedside table and rolls across the floor :) I do not use the radio, as I have a nice little portable Sangean by my bed, so I am sorry to say I don't have much to add about the radio. I did turn it on briefly when I first got the alarm clock - I don't remember being either impressed or annoyed by it - I think it is probably what you would expect in a little bedside clock radio - nothing to right home about, and you're probably not going to want to blast it while you are getting ready in the morning, but it is probably fine to wake up to. The numbers are not large - I have poor eyesight without my glasses, and cannot read the numbers from just a couple of feet away, but that's fine with me. I do like that the numbers are not too bright, and they are amber colored, so shouldn't interfere with sleep even if you are quite sensitive to light in the room while trying to fall asleep. Overall, a good deal for the price in a world of incredibly annoying alarm clocks - it looks okay sitting next to the bed, and won't make your significant other want to kill you when it goes off in the morning.

This is a good, compact radio, excellent sound. It has 5 available settings with 3 choices to preset on each - 15 items total. Throws the time on to wall or radio for convenience. Good buy.

Clock is accurate and esay to set. Turning it off can be an issue because buttons are a bit stiff. Overall, I like it because it takes up little space and has 3 options for time display dimmer.

Nice and compact and easy to set up.Needed a reliable alarm clock without a lot of added features. Nice and simple and takes minimum space on my nightstand.

Very easy to set the alarms and become familiar with its features. I really like being able to set the intensity of the time display. Automatically changes the time for going on and off daylight savings time.
