Good Alarm Clock; Good features; Complicated

I purchased this dual alarm clock after extensive research into the reviews and comparisons to other brands. After reading that it was "loud", I felt okay with purchasing it, however, it wasn't loud enough for me (I wear ear plugs). After weeks of trial and error, I finally got a setting that can wake me with the ear plugs on. The alarm clock is complicated. Good luck trying to set things without the instructions! It has a lot of features but this also leads to it being a bear to program. Once you are used to it, it's not a problem, but, it's not intuitive at all. Pros: lots of features, settings and options for each different type of alarm 3 types of alarm (buzzer, nature, radio) 5 types of nature sounds that you can set as an alarm or fall asleep to on a timer (the birds are the only ones that manage to wake me up; My cat HATES it. It's pretty hilarious.) projection feature adjustable volume Alarm set times clearly displayed under actual time Forgiving snooze button-- press it once for 10 minutes, an additional press adds another 10 up to 90 minutes. I use this all the time.... Dual alarms-- each alarm can be set for a different time, type; possibly volume but I don't usually mess with it. Dimmer button: the snooze button can also turn the brightness on the display down. It has 3 settings. You can even turn it completely OFF. This was another factor in my purchase as one of the last electronic devices I bought was so bright I have to cover it with a box at night. (Spoiler alert, it's a modem.) USB port: charge your phone with it. :) Nice addition. Small. As much as this thing is packed with, you can use it with space constraints. It is much smaller than you think. Shiny. The black surface is mirrorlike at times, especially with the display off. I like to pretend it's Gantz or something... CONS Complicated to set. It's not intuitive. When you get something with this many options, you're going to have a bad time setting it. That's understandable. Just make sure you know what you're getting into. It is already 2 minutes slower than my phone. Not loud enough to wake me up with ear plugs in except on one specific setting (that everyone else in the house hates). USB port will allow you to charge your phone but doesn't allow you to use it as a speaker. Minor quibble. Gradual Wake Alarm: Ugh..... Hate this. All alarms are only available as gradual wake alarms even when you set them at maximum volume. There is not way to turn it off. I bought the alarm clock in the hopes that it was an optional thing not a be all end all. Disappointment. Really difficult to figure out how to turn off the nature sounds if you accidentally turn them on. This falls under "complicated" but happened enough and was annoying enough that it gets its own line. All in all, I hated the alarm clock when I got it. With so many features, I was disappointed with a few key points that almost made me bring it back. Fortunately, I was on vacation and was able to work my way through it without oversleeping when it was important. Now that I have it the way I want it and have found some settings that work for me, I really love it, but the learning curve on it is so steep that I can't give if 5 stars.

I'm loving my Sony AM/FM Dual-Alarm Clock Radio! This sleek and compact device brings a touch of nostalgia with its classic design, but packs modern features that make it a great addition to my bedside table. The dual alarms are a lifesaver, allowing me to set separate wake-up times for myself and my partner. The AM/FM radio tuner picks up signals crystal clear, and the built-in speakers deliver surprisingly good sound quality. I also appreciate the convenient features like the large display, easy-to-use controls, and automatic time set. The battery backup ensures that my alarms and time stay set even during power outages. Overall, this clock radio is a great value for its price. It's simple, reliable, and gets the job done. If you're looking for a no-frills, easy-to-use alarm clock with good radio reception, look no further

I pretty much wish I didn’t waste my money on this product. It looks cute to sit on your desk or table but it’s staticky, annoying to fine a good station because of the Poor reception you’ll get and it brings enough bottoms to drive you insane. I didn’t return the product because I have a bad habit of throwing the packaging out as soon as I buy something but this taught me a lesson to keep it around for at least two weeks. All to say, don’t waste you hard earned money on this.

    Small Footprint with Big Features

Foremost this met my need for a Clock Radio with 2 separate alarms; which was more difficult to find than expected. The footprint is small which is nice with limited space on the table. Also nice was that it comes preset for EST time, which saved me a set up step. An added bonus, its preset for the Daylight Savings Change. The digital display can be adjusted to 3 different levels or just off. Have to agree with other reviewers on 2 things. First, the alarm set-up isn't exactly intuitive. Second, this model desperately needs the On/Off, AM/FM/Nature Sound selection and Volume buttons RAISED. Given the small amount of real estate on this model, it is really difficult to find and hit the correct button. The projection feature I can't use since I have a lamp and other furniture pieces which block walls or the ceiling. But--I would never have used it anyway. May sound like a lot of complaints, but I am happy with this model and glad to have found it. Sleek and cool looking too.

Love the dual alarm with weekend and weekday setting, the 3-level brightness setting and the Daylight savings time option. The wall or ceiling projection is awesome!!! The size is perfect, it's easy to set (without the instructions) the AM with antenna actually works.

This is a well-designed and attractive alarm clock. Takes up very little space. The projector works great, and isn't too bright so as to keep you awake. The buzzer alarm increases gradually, which I'm not a big fan of, but it didn't take too long to acclimate. The display has 3 brightness levels or can be dimmed completely, which works great in conjunction with the projected time. I have always appreciated Sony products, and this is no exception! Well-made and very functional. Been using it for a couple months, and no complaints so far.

Love this radio! When my previous clock radio broke, I tried five different ones and wound up returning all of them within a day or 2. Then I finally went to Best Buy, and found this one. It's very user friendly, sound is clear, the alarm is dependable, and the size is nice for a bedside table

Bestbuy does not have a large selection of stocked am/fm alarm clocks but this is the most stylish and compact of what is stocked. Note that there are many radio alarm clock radios that Bestbuy stocks but a lot of them are FM only. Let’s take a look at the details - Display – easy to see and you can adjust how bright it is. The screen has a mirror like finish that looks good. Alarm – it gradually wakes you. Starts out as a low tone and then gets louder. You may see some reviews that it is not loud enough, they may not be giving it enough time to get to it’s loudest. There are two alarms. One issue is the buttons to select whether the alarm is off, buzzer or radio. The buttons are small, flat and difficult to get to the middle selection of the buzzer – there is not enough positive click between the selections. Radio - it has FM/AM tuner. It is fine for a basic radio but there is no preset option. Reception is okay. Features - the Sony ICFC1T size is very compact, it is essentially a 4 inch cube. The snooze function is great, you can select from 10,20 or 30 minutes. This is done by how many times you press the snooze button when the alarm goes off. It has a battery back up where the alarm will ring even if the power is off. The Sony ICFC1TBLACK is stylish, compact and does it job as alarm clock. What I really like is the compact size and looks. I realize that may not be for everyone ( especially if you have large fingers) so if you want something easier to control and select , look to the Insignia NS-CLOPP2. If size is not an issue or you want something that looks great, this is a good choice.

Nice compact footprint. Display is legible without being obnoxiously bright. Design is typical nice Sony. The red wall projection is easy to read and adjust. Clock was easy to adjust. Sound is adequate (wouldn't expect much at this size). Radio tuning is fine. Nature sounds is a nice bonus. Haven't used the alarms however. Mostly comes down to getting used to the modes and button placement.

Love the projection feature in such a compact unit. The sound quality is very satisfactory for such a small radio. The footprint is tiny --- a plus when you have little space on a bedside table. Easy to use, worth the cost.

I bought an alarm clock to stop using my phone in my bedroom. I really am happy I went with this more top-of-the-line unit, as I actually do use all of the features. The projector is easy to read, and also indicates which alarm is active. I use it every night, and also really appreciate the ability for it to automatically turn alarms off on the weekend/weekday as set. It also automatically sets the time/date, and adjusts for daylight savings time. The time is perfectly synced with my iPhone, so it seems very accurate. Sure, the speaker isn't going to shake the house, but the alarm will just about shake you out of your sleep.

Display is easy to read, easy to set and change the two alarms on it, and the projector feature is nice as I can turn it on and point it at the ceiling before bed, and don't need my glasses to see what time it is, just look at the ceiling and there it is in big print.

For some reason, radio signals are weak at my workplace, if they get through at all. I bought this little guy because the price was right. Since it doesn't have an antenna, I didn't expect strong signals in either AM or FM. Turns out I needn't have worried. Both AM and FM come in quite clearly, and the sound is quite good. It's also small enough that it takes up little room on my desk.

TERRIBLE RADIO SOUND/YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

i purchased one of these for my son to take to college. He said the had no complaints, so when my clock radio died I purchased the same one for myself . Terrible radio. I really like to wake to radio, rather than a buzzer. I have a previous model Sony Digicube in my master bath, so I assumed the sound quality would be the same. Not even close. I have it tuned as finely as possible, the sound is scratchy and tinny. I read in the instructions that this unit is not to be used on a metal surface because it would interfere with the internal antenna. I am having the same effect on a wooden nightstand. The previous model had an external antenna, a small wire, similar to speaker wire. In spite of the fact that my cat ate half of the antenna, the older model gets much better reception than this one.. I am also not thrilled that the front of the clock is a mirror. i guess I shouldn't expect much for a clock that cost $20, but i assumed the Sony name still meant something. Sony still needs to work on their instruction manuals. They have never been intuitive. I always have to search the manual/instructions just to figure out basic functions. Like on this model, rather than a slide switch to operate the radio, there is a push button marked "radio" . Press it, and after a slight delay, the radio turns on. How do you turn the radio off? Press the radio button again? .No, you have to press the button marked "alarm reset" , which is also embossed with the word "off" . The embossed words are very small, difficult to read. Every button on this unit is small.. That is probably intended to make the unit look cleaner, streamlined, less cluttered. It makes it difficult to use.
