Bad battery

Yes, we recommend an additional battery with your unit. Are you using continuously? Record long videos? Lots of factors for reduced battery. Its always good to carry extra. Lots of Money for Little Camera

Make sure the timer for the view finder is on at least a minute or more other wise it will switch off. The daisy wheel allows you to control F stop and shutter speed. Camera had an issue focusing in bright inside light. Also not the greatest with low inside lighting. By the way this was a display model I purchased at significant discount. No documentation or battery.

Last of its breed?

When conditions don't allow for a full-size model -- we have both a DSLR and a mirrorless -- a high-grade point and shoot like this one is perfect for the job.

Yes, cellphone cameras are getting better nowadays because of the technology advancements, but I agree with you that it still is different with a real camera. With the camera's compact and light weight built, and the features and capabilities that you don't get with a cellphone camera, I'd really go with a real camera as you have mentioned.

Expensive but Incredible

Basically, this is the best pocket camera on the market today. It's very expensive, and it's frustrating to me that Sony keeps the entire RX100 product line available without substantially decreasing the prices of the old models when the new ones come out. Instead, the new ones just cost more. But, it is an amazing camera. It takes excellent pictures for when you don't want to be carrying your DSLR, or can't (i.e. concerts). But the most incredible thing for me is the eye auto-focus. It is fast and accurate. It's a game changer.

Camera Ten, Customer Service Zero

The one that came with it had a defective casing (the metal cut my hand) and Best Buy refused to replace it.

I have had some good fun with the time-lapse feature. One significant minus is the connections. The USB connection gets used all the time, both for charging and for downloading the photos and videos. That means opening up the cover over the connector. Unfortunately, the cover is EXTREMELY flimsy. Yesterday when I opened it, the cover came right off. I can't even find it (it seems to be somewhere inside my chair). A camera this expensive should have solid moving parts, not ones that fall apart after a few weeks.
