I was looking for a camera to take close-up pictures of the moon and wildlife, and was led to this one by an associate. I bought it and tried it with the "blue moon" in July. I was exceedingly pleased with the shots I could get. There are many other features that I still have to explore, but I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a camera for the same reason.

I bought this camera for my wife as a way to introduce her to the world of nicer cameras before dropping a big, clunky DSLR on her, and for that purpose, it works very well. The picture quality and ease of use will be attractive to both novice and experienced users. Sony's wide sensor and 50x zoom mean that there are very few situations that this camera won't perform well in. I saw few because my qualm with this model is the indoor performance. With even marginally questionable lighting, the pictures will become noisy and overly saturated, and getting the settings adjusted to compensate is tedious and overly complex. The rest of the camera would seem to promote easy click-and-shoot operation, but all too often, trying to get that quick photo of the family or the pets inside the house will prove frustratingly difficult. I would absolutely recommend this camera to anyone newer to photography so mostly intends to use it for outdoor and staged shots. It's wonderful in those arenas.

Over all the camera works good. it's got a lot of nice features but could still use a few more. lacking for long exposure shots. but for everyday shooting it's pretty good. the focus is fairly fast compared to some other the other Bridge cameras. and the ability to manually focus is nice for those hard to get pic's with other things within the focus range. pic's are clean and sharp but some times a bit dull color wise. don't really pop. could just be in the adjustments.

This camera takes great pictures! I originally bought a Sony SLR camera, but quickly found I didn't like changing lenses. I read reviews for many different cameras and finally decided on this one due to the great reviews as well as the lower cost. I am so happy with it!

I love this camera. I take a lot of pictures and some of the smaller cameras I bought over the years couldn't handle it. This camera lets me do so much which makes me want to take even more pictures. The pictures are crystal clear no matter what zoom level you're using.

Photo quality is outstanding; plenty of options/settings allow for taking quality photos.
The camera is also robust; I dropped it from chest high onto a concrete floor and it survived. The battery compartment cover came off and the display was jarred loose but both snapped back into place.
It's not a pocket-size camera, which is what I intended to purchase, but it was on sale at $100 off regular price and it had many good reviews so I decided to purchase this one. I am very pleased with quality of the camera.

This camera was chosen as one of the highest quality digital cameras without being an SLR available at the location I visited. It was on sale for a very competitive price. My household has had good experience with SONY digital cameras and this one has so far won me over. The functions are easy to use and it has a nice feature letting you search on the display screen for help functions. The combination of the zoom and # of megapixels has resulted in excellent close up shots. Overall easy to use for someone not familiar with using manual settings although there are several options for doing so which I plan on learning very soon. Will update review once I do. Very satisfied with this purchase and the sale price versus other stores and websites.

Great megazoom point and shoot camera

I bought this camera for a vacation in a month so we'd have time to learn how to use it but it's almost the same as the other (non-megazoom) Sony point and shoot camera we own. It's very easy to use and the picture stabilization works great (supposedly the best in class). It takes great pictures as expected and though a bit bulky is still light enough. I don't like that the lens cover can't be attached by a string to the camera.
Overall it was best choice for us for a 50x megazoom point and shoot camera.

Was looking for a smaller camera that did the same as my other camera. This one fits the bill. The zoom on this is extraordinary. It takes nice clear pictures and gives you the option of what kind of picture you are taking ex. Bright day, landscape, action etc. Well worth the money. I highly recommend this camera.

First let me say for you folks out there that don't know, Sony is a real player in the Camera market. I would recommend that you always buy one with the Carl Zeiss sonar lens, it's one of the finest camera lens out there. When I first bought the camera I was a bit skeptical, A 50x Carl Zeiss lens and a camera with a lot of features for a price around $400.00 dollars. I have had Sony Camera’s for years they have never brake they just keep getting passed down in the family. This camera has brought back a lot fun to picture taking. That Zoom is crazy fun, and being able to take 10 pictures in seconds is a rush. I recommend this camera for those people that don’t want a little pocket camera but want a camera that takes some really good pictures without moving to the interchangeable lens models. This camera does take some very good pictures and I would go so far as to say in the right conditions it will give camera at 3 times the price a run for their money.
