I was looking for something with some sound isolation that had more bass than the IE2 and more mids and highs than the B&W C5. These fit the bill perfectly. They extend just as low as the C5 but the bass isn't as overpowering so you can hear the mids and highs great. It's also got a really wide sound stage, almost surround sound like. When I first put these on the bass was really weak. Once I got a good seal the bass was strong and powerful but not overpowering. Also at first it seemed like the 60-120Hz region wasn't quite meshing right but after some burn-in that is no longer an issue and the bass has gotten stronger. Overall if you can get a good seal with these they are great.

I loved the sound and fit of these headphones, I saw it on sale for 89.99 so I decided to give it a shot. After a few tries of getting the right ear tips, I heard excellent base, and the clarity is great. I used them daily at home and especially at the gym, with the hybrid tips(memory foam covered with silicone) it is excellent for sound isolation.
The downsides however is life of the product, exchanged two pairs within three months. Sony did cover the defective headphones via manufacturers warranty. I had the left earbud go out on me the first time, and the 2nd time was the right earbud. (I don't think it was cause of the sweat from the gym, but more of the way the cables are made)
As of right now I am happy with the purchase, specially since I can always get a replacement when it goes out. And once I've had enough of replacing, I will use the store credit towards something else, so no harm done. Just love the comfort, sound, and isolation.

I did a lot of research on headphones and thought they would be great but I was wrong. First off they do not stay in your ear great which is annoying. I had to keep fixing them because they would fall out. As a result of not creating a great seal, the sound was not even that great. Even when they were in good, the sound was nothing amazing it just sounded normal. Worst part of all with these headphones however was that the right earphone stopped working just a few months after getting them. My guess is that it was from contently moving them around trying to get them to stay in my ear. I have had many SONY products before which were great which is what led to my final decision to get these headphones but I couldn't be more disappointed. They were kind of a lot of money so i'm not looking forward to having to buy a new pair of headphones and risking blowing more money.

Don't Waste Your Time with Poor Sound

Just to provide a quick frame of reference, the cheap, white headphones that Apple packs in with all of their mobile devices are more impressive. That's pretty sad, don't you think?
The sound I'm getting from these is, to say the least, lackluster. The mid-range is muddled and flat, the treble is pitifully tinny, and while the bass is present, it's punchy like the drivers are being pushed too hard.
To write this review, I listened to FLAC audio with a 24-bit DAC, first without and then with EQ; Even EQ adjustments can't make these sound halfway decent.
