Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This digital shotgun mic is a great solution if you find the analog ones too big and conspicuous to use especially while traveling. It sounds great and has 3 different sound patterns you can switch amongst to allow you to get audio tailored to your needs. The digital nature of the mic virtually makes the audio nearly impossible to "clip" vs an analog one. That in itself is reason enough to buy it. But I had to return mine unfortunately as the many negative reviews online are correct in that the shock mount at the base of the mic cases a low rumble sound to be picked up in quiet environments if you are moving. It's easily heard if you monitor your audio with headphones like I do while recording. There's no way to not let it happen unless you don't move while shooting or if you shoot in a loud, outdoor setting.

Great Mic for Sony Cameras

That means less cables to worry about breaking or tangling. It's a little tall, and i'm not sure why it needs to be designed that way, but it works well and sound is good.

Make sure to check!! Seems like a great mic. Not supported (not recognizable) by the ZV-1, and only supported in analog audio mode on the AX-43A Handycam. If I ever added an Alpha-series camera to my kit, I would consider purchasing again.

Can only use a along on the a6400 but it works

This is coming from a Rode videoMic NTG & rode wireless go2 owner. The convenience of not having to charge it & also no cables is amazing! Being able to control audio levels & noice control from the back is a BIG “W”!

Glad you don’t need to run a cable around the camera but…the handling noise will ruin your footage. If you plan on using a tripod and setting it down, this solution may work for you. But if are walking and recording, there’s a low shakey rumble from the vibration of walking (even standing while moving the camera around). My guess is the mic is picking up the vibration from the shock mount. Maybe I just got a bad copy…Really wanted to like this microphone but I will be returning it.
