It actually helped me in a pinch in being able to produce some video segments for news broadcast. May not be sufficient in louder environments at distances greater than a few feet.

If you have a camcorder with a multi-interface shoe under a door, a bumper is included. The zoom function does not work with all cameras. Check Sony's documentation for more details.

Shotgun mic, but not zoom, works with the Sony ZV-1. Not needing an extra cable is a nice bonus.

Compact mic with no extra wires

I use this mic for vlogging and it works without cables in the hot shoe of my Sony a7c. I do wish it had a better cover for wind noise but I primarily use for indoor sound isolation.
