I will say for the amount of many this lens cost you would think the distortion would be maintained a little better then what it produces in its images but overall i am satisfied with this lens.

The auto focus is out of this world and the sharpness is incredible. There also isnt much distortion which is something you would see a lot with other wide angle lenses. I hope sony makes a 24-70 with similar specs because if they do I will buy it immediately.

At 2.8 this rectilinear lens meets all my needs and demands on any shoot where epic wide scenes are needed. There isn't another manufacture that makes a 12-24 at 2.8! So far it's taken everything I've thrown at it without having to worry about bowing edges even when I'm up closer to my subject. I previously owned the 12-24 G and this is definitely quite the upgrade. Better colors and the additional nano coating really cuts out flaring and haze that I saw on the non GM version. Not inexpensive but if you're a pro it'll pay for itself in no time flat!
