Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the reliability and capacity of the G-Series 64GB XQD Memory Card. Many users appreciate its performance and compatibility with devices like the Nikon D500. However, the high price point of both the card and the required adapter is a common complaint.

    CF Card Upgrade :)

I've been shooting CF Cards for a number of years ... the XQD Card is smaller and FAST! It does tend to get a little hot during file transfer but no problems so far. My only issue is that Nikon didn't go with two XQD Cards versus one XQD Card and one SDXC UHS-II Card when they released the D850. My primary issue with BestBuy is their Geek Squad Warranty ... it is next to useless. The Geek Squads answer to all concerns/issues is, "The Customer is always WRONG and it's not the camera it's the user". Second email sent to BestBuyLeaders: BestBuyLeaders, I was on a Chat this morning to determine the status of the attached email. Was it received? When can I expect a response. I was referred to 1-888-237-8289 … they put me in contact with the local Corona Geek Squad … their response was as expected, “ They could do NOTHING and that 'Precision Camera' has the final word on an exchange and/or replacement" Another waste of my time in an attempt to get this issue resolved/addressed. Original email sent to BestBuyLeaders: BestBuyLeaders, I’ve had my Sony A7II in for service 3 time, the camera intermittently fails to focus properly ... and each time your service provider “Precision Camera” only response is that they Cleaned, Calibrated and checked the Software Release. When I take the camera out and shoot a couple thousand PICs I find that the camera continues to intermittently not focus properly. I shoot with both manual and auto focus lenses. I take multiple HDR, Focus Stacking and Panoramic PICs. If one of the numerous PICs I take are out-of-focus the merging, stacking and/or stitching of photos fail to provide the expected results. I shoot a Sony RX100V, Sony A7II (in for repair 3 times) and a Nikon D850. I am retired and have been an avid photographer for 15 years. I know when a camera is not performing as expected/advertised etc. My local Geek Squad state that “Precision Camera” has the last word and an exchange or replacement is out of their hands. I don’t like spending $300 for a 3 Year Warranty or $300Warranty/$1700Camera=18% of the Purchase Price and finding that the Warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I plan on taking a 9 month trip this summer, starting April 1st, to Canada and Alaska … I need a camera I can depend on. Your assistance in resolving this issue is appreciated. I’ve attached my recent Geek Squad Chat and included the Service Order Numbers in the Subject Line.

    Fast but be aware.....

This is easily the fastest card that you can use in your Nikon D4, D5, D500, or D850...if you are willing to pay the price for this speed. Be aware that: (1) on the Nikons that have 2 types of card slots in the camera body (D4, D500, and D850), the write speed to the memory card slows down if you are using mixed media. The best performance happens when this is the only card in the camera. This may be a problem if you want to use card slot #2 for backups; (2) This is the first time I bought a Sony XQD card that did not come with the usb reader. If you don't already have a G series XQD card reader, you will want to buy the (now) optional usb 3 card reader and spend more money; and (3) The price of the Sony XQD cards suddenly increased. Maybe it is the demand from the sales of the D850 which practically requires the use of xqd card vs the much slower sd card. If you need the speed and can pay the price, it is the best for processing a big quantity of large files. Otherwise the SD card or Compact Flash card in slot #2 is still OK.

This is one of two card in my Nikon D500. I have not pushed the speed to the maximum but I can tell the difference between the SD card and this XQD card. I have never registered this purchase. Now I an debating the larger card just to storage.

    Fast card for Nikon D850

I got this card to use in a Nikon D850, since I wanted to be able to to have files written to two cards simultaneously. This gives me an instant backup in case a card should fail or be misplaced, which is great for peace of mind on important shoots. Unfortunately, this card is pricey, and there aren't many card readers available either. But if you want both cards slots filled in a D850, you're going to need this in addition to the more common SD card.

I purchased the 64 GB card because no one seemed to have the 128 GB card in stock. However, having recorded a 4K full frame video that ultimately wound up to be about 1GB and transferring it directly from my camera to my laptop via my camera’s cable (not an XQD reader), I was overwhelmed by how fast the transfer was. I don’t recall the exact time, but we’re talking seconds, not minutes...

The major selling point of this card is speed. It will put away images from (for example) a Nikon D850 camera way faster than what you can achieve with an SD card, and that's really the only reason to buy this card. Sure, it's overpriced, but if you want the ability to shoot on continuous high without waiting for the camera to store the images before you can shoot again, you pony up the bucks and get on with it. In a year or two when micro-SD cards are twice the speed of this card (and the hardware to use that speed is available), this may be an obsolete technology, but until then, this is the gold standard.

This is one impressive memory card. It will keep up with 46MP at 7fps for at least 100 frames. But WHY does Best Buy not carry the effing card readers? Why, Best Buy, WHY??? I had to get mine from a Japanese seller on That Auction Site. Exasperating.

This card was specked out by my camera manufacturer for its speed. I have never purchased this type of card but glad I did. It’s fast! My camera shoots 10 FPS with a 200 buffer, I would never use a 200 buffer but I tried it and the card keep up.

Been using SanDisk SD xtreme for the longest and having this XQD as a primary makes a huge difference in speed. 11fps on my Nikon is amazing with it. Uploading the RAW photos are even quicker!

Once you get past the cost of the card, The card works as advertised. It is fast and stable. The only unfortunate thing is there’s no competitors in the market, therefore so I can keep the cast-iron. Hopefully as there’s more competition of the format, prices will come down. If you own a Nikon Z series camera, unfortunately this is the only card you can use.

The XQD Card is fast and smaller than the older Nikon D800 series of cameras that used the CF Card. Love the XQD card ... HATE the Geek Squad Warranty Program ... Not Worth the Paper it is Written ON! The Customer is NEVER Right and IT IS NOT the Equipment it's the user.

Bought a few for my Z6's. Quality is great. Haven't had any issues with mine. Haven't actually tested the speed performance, but it's definitely far faster than my SD's. It's too bad these are so expensive..

But as avid wildlife photographers in possession of the new Nikon D500 with incredible buffering capabilities, we decided to try the card... and immediately went out and purchased a second one. The speed is nothing short of amazing - well worth the $$. The only challenge is that when one shoots that many frames, downloading through the camera creates a lot of unnecessary stress on the camera, and no computers currently have a built-in XQD drive, not even one that is custom-built from scratch... so, an external reader - about $30 - is also necessary. The external reader is a bit clunky, but I'm guessing that the built-in drives will be available this year.
